YouTube Originals on Tuesday announced "Get Curious with Vice President Harris," a special that aims to get children more interested in space. The special, which debuts Thursday at 9 a.m. Eastern, will have children visit the Naval Observatory, where the vice president lives, to meet with her and participate in a scavenger hunt with clues given out by NASA astronaut Shane Kimbrough. "My mom was a scientist. She would take us to the lab with her on the weekends and after school because she had to work long hours," Harris, who is also head of the National Space Council, tells...

Donald Trump's super-charged return to the political stage over the weekend was a ratings smash for Newsmax, which trounced Fox News in key ratings. According to Nielsen, 1.9 million cable viewers tuned into Newsmax to watch the network's coverage of the former president's rally Saturday in Wellington, Ohio. Newsmax estimates another 1.3 million viewers watched through free streaming devices, bringing Newsmax's total viewership over 3 million. Fox News did not air the President's rally live. Newsmax's Nielsen ratings success is even more astounding considering Newsmax is carried in about 30 million less U.S. cable homes than Fox. Still, in a...

The iconic American children's book character Curious George is celebrating Ramadan in one of the latest books from the 75-year-old series. It's Ramadan, Curious George was written by Pakistani-American Muslim author Hena Khan who stated she was glad the book was released during this contentious election season, particularly with Donald Trump's call for a ban on Muslim immigration. "There's a very dangerous narrative being spread about Muslims and inaccurate things being said," Khan said. "[The book] comes at the right time in terms of trying to promote understanding and tolerance." Khan has already written two children's books about Islam, according to...
  • Is Donald Trump shifting to a "General Election" stance? Seems to take more shots at HRC, Obama

Asking fellow FREEPers...I follow Trump on twitter, and see the stories here on FR. I seem to sense that DT thinks he is in a good enough position NOW on the primary front that he can now aim at the Demon Rats. I see more criticism of Shrillary and the Narcissist than I did in the beginning of his campaign, when he seemed more obsessed with taking down his fellow Republicans. Opinions?

A curious 4-year-old in Monroe, Conn., is going to have to get his doughnuts elsewhere after asking a Doughnut Inn customer the wrong question. Justin Otero's mother says the boy asked the customer if she had a baby in her belly and was told no. "My response was, 'Oh my goodness, I'm so embarrassed, I'm so sorry,'" the mom tells WFSB. But she says that while the customer was forgiving, managers refused to allow her in the store with her son, saying, "'He's not allowed in here, he's rude.'" The mom says she plans to get doughnuts somewhere else with...

A Washington truism: to conservatives, potentially troublesome judicial appointments justify immediate action no matter how injurious to the smooth functioning of a legislative body. It's been this way since Roe, as Republicans have grasped how the subtle formalism of American life can be influenced by judicial rulings. And so Senate Republicans are holding up the nomination of Goodwin Liu, .. Liu presents a classic dilemma for intellectually honest conservatives: he is undeniably brilliant, undeniably qualified to serve, has a great story behind him (son of immigrants ..) , was a Rhodes scholar, went to Stanford, Yale Law) respected by colleagues...

For the politically correct Bay Area parent, the "Curious George" children's books are a minefield of cultural horrors through which to tiptoe. Imperialism. Animal abuse. Bad parenting. Puh-leeeeze, George's defenders say. They're children's books, whose charm has not dimmed -- 25 million books and countless swag sold -- even if ideas about political correctness have evolved since the first George adventure was published in 1941. Sometimes a speechless, mischievous monkey is just that -- a monkey, not a metaphor. Besides, George's tales are no more un-PC than those of that royalist warmonger, Babar. Both camps are wondering how "Curious...

HOVANEC -- MONROE (Aug. 5, 2005) With about three hours left in the municipal filing period, the races keep getting more interesting. 'No war on Iraq," the protesters chant, across the United States and around the world. As ever, their anger is misdirected. It is not the United States that is making war on Iraq. It is Saddam Hussein. While the Americans go to extreme lengths to avoid civilian casualties, Saddam goes to even greater lengths to produce them. American forces rely almost exclusively on precision-guided weapons, designed and produced at enormous expense; attacks are timed for night, when targeted buildings are likely to be unoccupied; military lawyers must sign off on every bombing run. Meanwhile, Saddam's forces are lining up civilians...
