Slovenia sees end to EU as leaders fail on migrant plan. The best thing that could happen would be the end of the EU.European nations need to take back their sovereignty. The EU was and is a dangerous collective that is anti-freedom and anti-individualism. In the hope of garnering a few crumbs of influence, the EU privileged a massive Muslim immigration into Europe, paid billions to the Mediterranean Union and Palestinian Authority, weakened the European states, undermined their unity, and wrapped itself in the flag of Palestinian justice, as though this would supply some protective system against the global jihad,...

Tensions are building among thousands of migrants heading north through Balkan states as their route to Western Europe is stalled by new controls. Croatia had asked its northern neighbor Slovenia to accept 5,000 migrants daily, but Slovenia said it would only take half that number..... An official told the BBC that Croatia could run out of room in its transit camps within days. Buses crammed with people were backed up in Serbia on Sunday, and tempers flared between frustrated migrants and overstretched police officers..... Tovarnik, Croatia (dpa) - Slovenia deployed its military to its border with Croatia on Saturday to help police handle an influx of refugees who re-routed their course across the Balkans after Hungary refused to let them through. Prime Minister Miro Cerar said the army deployment does not mean that Slovenia is in a state of emergency but that the government would like to control the refugee situation at the border, Slovenian news agency STA reported. Cerar's announcement came after a meeting of his national security council. Slovenia can only take in a maximum of 2,500 refugees per day, Interior Ministry...

Slovenia stopped all passenger traffic on the main railway line from Croatia, after finding 150 refugees on a Zurich-bound train. Croatian officials put the army on alert as thousands of people entered the country. A group of 150 refugees arrived across the Croatian border late Thursday, Slovenian police officials said. It was the largest group to try to enter the country since the start of the refugee crisis, according to the police statistics. "We will return them to Croatia in the shortest time possible," Anton Stubljar, from Novo Mesto police administration, told reporters. Slovenia is likely to be the next...

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Hungary's prime minister lambasted his Croatian counterpart Friday, accusing him of being the envoy of a global left-wing organization with the job of attacking Hungary — some the strongest statements yet in neighborhood disputes caused by the migrant crisis. Meanwhile, officials in the Czech Republic said they were willing to send more than 100 police and soldiers to help Hungary defend its European Union borders, which could include the border with Croatia. That could create the awkward situation of EU members guarding the borders of a fellow member country with troops. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban...

hen last we checked in on Europe’s worsening migrant crisis, Brussels had just approved a plan which aims to settle some 120,000 asylum seekers by way of a mandatory quota system. Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania were opposed which, as WSJ noted, “sets the stage for intensified friction within the bloc over the contentious issue.” To be sure, calling the crisis a “contentious issue” is something of an understatement. The massive people flows stemming from Syria’s protracted civil war threaten to tear the EU apart just months after fraught negotiations with Greece over the country’s third bailout program...

BATROVCI, Serbia/OPATOVAC, Croatia (Reuters) - Serbia threatened to retaliate on Tuesday after Croatia halted all cargo traffic from its eastern neighbor, with relations between the ex-Yugoslav republics starting to fray over the flow of migrants across their joint border. More than 30,000 migrants, many of them Syrian refugees, have entered European Union member Croatia from Serbia since Tuesday last week, when Hungary barred their entry to the EU over its southern border with Serbia with a metal fence. They are being bussed by Serbia direct to the Croatian border, having entered Serbia from Macedonia. Croatia says it cannot cope with...

"Hungary is violating the human rights of refugees by blocking their access to a meaningful asylum procedure on its territory."Hungry’s parliament has authorised its army to shoot rubber bullets, pyrotechnical devices, (flashbangs), net guns and tear gas grenades at migrants. They say that the use of the so-called non-lethal weapons will help Hungary’s military handle the migrant crisis. As Hungary rushes to finish building a fence along its border with Croatia, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the police needed the army’s help to secure Hungary’s borders with Serbia and Croatia. “The migrants are not only banging on our doors...

Shouldn't their national flag carrier be doing the job the (rich) Germans are dumping on Hungary, Croatia, et. al.? Or was she just 'posing', making disingenuous offers the Islamists were never expected to exploit quite like this... _______________________________________________________ As Ma Merkel and the German left force their Nazi-guilt-driven policy down the rest of Europe's throats, they already have other EU states openly fighting each other and sending tanks to their internal EU borders in attempts to deal with the (75% military-age male) Muslim mobs now invading their lands. As the German (and EU's effective) leader has so recklessly drawn 1000s of people to German cities through...

It was like a scene from an army homecoming. Yet it was a show of military might from a country unable to deal with Europe’s worsening migrants crisis.

I witnessed a convoy of tanks and armoured vehicles transporting several hundred soldiers waved and cheered on by locals in Hungary today.

Hungary has confiscated a Croatian train that tried to transport 1,000 migrants into the country - describing its arrival as a breach of EU law. Budapest said 40 police officers accompanying the 1,000 migrants were disarmed and sent back to their homeland during the "major, major incident" - though Croatia denied weapons had been taken. The migrants are being transferred from the town of Magyarboly to a reception camp, while Hungary claimed it had arrested the train driver. Hungary has stated repeatedly that it will charge such migrants with illegal entry and expel them back to the country from which...

ZAGREB, Croatia — European nations once friendly to refugees abruptly yanked their welcome mats Thursday, as Germany considered slashing its benefits and Croatia announced it was closing most of its road links with Serbia “until further notice.” The German measures would overhaul asylum codes to stem the massive flow of migrants into Europe, scaling back the generous policies that have made Germany a beacon for desperate war refugees and economic migrants pouring out of the Middle East, Africa and beyond. In a 128-page draft law produced by the German Interior Ministry and obtained by The Washington Post, the government would...

Croatia staggered Thursday as thousands of asylum seekers poured in from Serbia. Dozens were injured or trampled in a mad rush to get on the few buses and trains authorities could provide, and some police even stood behind trees to protect themselves from the melee. The Balkan nation has suddenly become the latest hotspot in the 1,000-mile plus exodus toward Western Europe after Hungary sealed off its border Tuesday with a razor-wire fence and then used tear gas, batons and water cannons to keep the migrants out. Croatia represents a longer and more arduous route into Europe but those fleeing...

Chief of General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Drago Lovric has already taken the necessary steps to carry out the Croatian president’s order, the Hina news agency said. Earlier in the day, hundreds of migrants broke through police cordons after waiting in a long line to take buses to transit centers at a checkpoint on the Croatian-Serbian border. The closure of the Serbian-Hungarian border and the penalties introduced on Tuesday by the Hungarian government for border infringements have forced thousands of migrants from Serbia to reroute through Croatia and Slovenia, in their journey to wealthier EU states.

Explanation: Have you watched the Perseid meteor shower? Though the annual shower's predicted peak was last night, meteor activity should continue tonight (August 13/14), best enjoyed by just looking up in clear, dark skies after midnight. Of course, this year's Perseid shower has the advantage of being active near the August 14 New Moon. Since the nearly New Moon doesn't rise before the morning twilight many fainter meteors are easier to spot until then, with no interference from bright moonlight. The Perseid meteor shower last occurred near a New Moon in 2013. That's when the exposures used to construct this...
