RUSH: I used to read The Economist. It’s a British magazine that focuses on economic matters. It’s also a journal of opinion disguised, and my memory is that The Economist — and I’m talking 20 years ago, now, 25 years. I haven’t read it in a long, long time. It used to be approved reading by the intellectual right. My memory was that it was valuable here and there. It had some decent insight. But they’re gone. Look at this: The Economist explains how Donald Trump may be making life easier for MS-13, the street gang. This is very long,...

A man described by neighbors as “quarrelsome” and who placed large anti-Trump signs in his yard is in police custody for the murder of his next-door neighbor – a GOP committeeman. Police in West Goshen Township, PA, charged Clayton Carter, 51, in the shooting death of his next-door neighbor, G. Brooks Jennings in the early morning hours on Tuesday, according to ABC Philadelphia. The conflict began on Monday evening when police officers responded to a dispute between Carter and Jennings that involved cursing and video recording in one of their backyards. Police de-escalated the conflict around 8 p.m. and left....

Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh announced a violent crime plan and appointed a new criminal justice director Wednesday, just days after the city failed to go 72 hours without a murder in the "nobody kill anybody" weekend campaign. ... Her policy plan addresses three areas she believes are the root cause of violent crime: poorly trained police, poor drug policy, and an under-educated populace. [Snip] Pugh’s plan also addresses a criminal justice reform topic that has enjoyed wide bipartisan support across the country, which is lowering sentences for drug crimes. Her plan calls for increased investment in drug treatment programs and...

The Los Angeles County Coroner has reported the death of Gemmel Moore, 26, of an accidental meth overdose at 7:22 p.m. on July 27 at the West Hollywood home of high-profile Democratic Party donor and political activist, Ed Buck. The youth’s death reportedly occurred just hours after he left his family in Texas in order to join Buck. While a case detail report filed by the medical examiner lists the manner of Gemmel Moore’s death as an “accident” and its cause as “methamphetamine use,” the deceased man’s mother told the WeHo Times that something more nefarious may have occurred in...

The last thing Keondrae Brown remembers before he blacked out is lying in shattered glass on Tampa Road, next to the burning wreckage of a stolen car, lucky to be alive after a high-speed crash that killed his brother and two of his friends. Now Keondrae and two other boys in a second stolen car could face murder charges in the deaths of Keontae Brown, 16; Jimmie Goshey, 14; and Dejarae Thomas, 16. Sheriff Bob Gualtieri suggested the more serious charges against the surviving teens at a news conference Monday, a day after the Palm Harbor crash once again highlighted...

Sade Alvarez-Gibson, 15, raps into a studio microphone in a makeshift booth made of blankets, while Oladele Kiambu, 17, records: “Keeping my mind focused / I’m controlling my reality / My grind’s an everyday thing / It’s something that I do casually,” she raps. Just feet away, Kamal Muhammad — wearing headphones and a face full of determination — sits in front of a computer monitor, rhythmically tapping on a keyboard, eliciting sounds of a synth and a drum kick. “This is my first time making a beat,” the 12-year-old said proudly. All three are hoping to break into the...

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein would not rule out the possibility that a reporter publishing classified information could be considered a crime. Speaking to “Fox News Sunday,” Rosenstein told host Chris Wallace that “generally speaking, reporters who publish information are not committing a crime, but there might be a circumstance where they do.” “You know, I haven’t seen any of those today, but I wouldn’t rule it out in the event that there were a case where a reporter was purposely violating the law, then they might be a suspect as well, but that’s not our goal here. Our goal...

A nationwide manhunt is underway for a Northwestern University professor and an Oxford University employee who are wanted as suspects after a man was found fatally stabbed inside a luxury Chicago apartment, police said. On Monday, first-degree murder warrants without bail were issued for Wyndham Lathem, 42, and Andrew Warren, 56, for their alleged involvement in the death of Trenton H. James Cornell-Duranleau, Cook County court records show. The documents say Cornell-Duranleau, 26, died after being stabbed multiple times. A community alert released by the Chicago Police Department says the body was discovered on July 27. Lathem has been an...

There are concerns that new US immigration laws will make it more difficult for undocumented Irish to secure visas. TDs and senators who have been campaigning on behalf of the undocumented Irish in America are worried by new restrictions announced by US President Donald Trump. While Mr Trump has consistently campaigned against illegal immigration and has pledged to build a wall on the border with Mexico, he has now moved to restrict the number of legal immigrants. The bill would cut legal immigration by half in the next 10 years and introduce a points-based system prioritising those who speak English,...

PHOENIX (AP) - A customer pulled a gun and shot a man who police say had jumped over the counter of a Phoenix pharmacy and pointed a gun at people while demanding opioids. Authorities didn't fault the customer, saying he was in the right place at the right time to stop the armed robbery attempt Tuesday night, police Sgt. Jonathan Howard said. The suspect has been identified as 30-year-old Stephen Holguin, but police didn't immediately release any other information on him. Howard said the customer has been interviewed and released pending further investigation, but has declined to be identified or...

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton attempted to bully tiny Bangladesh to force it to end a corruption investigation of Mohammad Yunus, a long-time Clinton family friend and Clinton Foundation donor, according to documents The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group obtained. The information comes from two Bangladeshi government documents generated as part of a request from the U.S. Congress. They shed new, disturbing light on Clinton’s use of hard-ball tactics against the poorest country in South Asia in order to help her millionaire friend and foundation donor. The documents show Clinton deployed an array of high-powered Department of State,...

(snip) The DOJ report, though, needs to be discussed right here. Attorney General Eric Holder of the Department of Justice first arrived in Ferguson eleven days after the shooting. He spoke with Michael Brown’s mother. He talked of his own experiences with prejudice. He stated publicly that his pledge included, as opposed to simple justice, “robust action,” and he stated that “long after the events of August 9 have receded from the headlines, the Justice Department will continue to stand with this community.” The things he said and did added up to a tacit confirmation of the public fear that...

PHOENIX, Arizona — As this city’s police department prepares to implement a soft approach to dealing with illegal immigrants during traffic stops and investigations, veteran law enforcement officials worry that the measure could provide a safe haven for Mexican drug cartels and lead to yet another explosion in gory crime scenes. City officials, as well as key leaders within the Phoenix Police Department, are pushing for the return of a restrictive policy that prevents law enforcement officials from contacting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement during traffic stops or during investigations, Breitbart Texas reported. The concern among veteran detectives is that...

Americans living in and around the area where DNC staffer Seth Rich was brutally murdered on July 10, 2016, have mixed feelings on whether speculation surrounding Rich’s slaying is the stuff of conspiracy theories or evidence that the unsolved crime warrants a federal investigation. Seth Rich (middle) with friends (Photo: Facebook)On June 12, WND visited Lou’s City Bar – a bar in the Columbia Heights area of northwest Washington, D.C., that Rich frequented and where he spent his final hours drinking before he was shot to death near his home. After requesting to speak to the manager of the bar...

This week, Imran Awan, one of a trio of brothers hired by the Democratic National Committee to handle the computers and other devices used by key Democrats on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence was arrested trying to flee the country. News of the arrest prompted former DNC chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (Fla) to fire Awan, but she warned investigators there would be "consequences" if the laptop seized from him by police was not promptly returned to her. "The lap top is mine. I am a member of congress. I have immunity from...

A "beloved local hip hop" artist was robbed of his $89,000 Red camera while making an anti-GOP music video in West Oakland. (Side note: This is the fourth known armed hold up of an Oakland film crew this month.) To illustrate the theme of "lack of opportunity," his actors were wearing Trump, Reagan, Nixon, and Lincoln masks. Sadly, all of the video was lost. No description of the criminals has been released. However, given the subject matter of the video, I suspect pro-Trump perpetrators are likely involved. There is a GoFundMe link if you want to help out.
