A MUTANT cow has been born with two heads, baffling local farmers. Video footage shows the farm animal being bottle-fed by local workers as a second identical face emerges next to the first. The calf shares two pairs of eyes and heads between one skull and was found in Brazilian town Caiponia by the farm owner's wife. The woman, Zica Soares, said: "I never imagined something like that would be born here, we are surprised. "The vet says that we need to either put the calf down or look after him until the end. "He is very bad, really weak,...

If we had an actual, physical folder of evidence that the food labeling system in the United States is broken, it'd be full to bursting. And we'd be adding "skim milk????" to the list right about now. Maryland dairy farmers Randy and Karen Sowers are, with the help of the Institute for Justice (a non-profit libertarian-leaning law firm), suing the Food and Drug Administration for essentially doubling down on a very silly law. The gist: South Mountain Creamery, the dairy producer owned by the Sowerses, want to sell milk without the addition of any synthetic chemicals. To do this, they...

Scientists at San Francisco-based biotech start-up Muufri -- (get it, moo free?) -- have developed a formula to re-create cow milk: six proteins for structure and function and eight fatty acids for flavor and richness, according to Muufri’s website. The milk product is also free of lactose and cholesterol and because it’s created in a lab, its seen as a sustainable alternative to traditional dairy cattle operations. According to Muufri, lactose is “partially indigestible by 75 percent of adults,” so the decision to leave it out creates a healthier product. Founders of Muufri, Ryan Pandya, Perumal Gandhi and Isha Datar,...

A runaway cow that avoided captivity for weeks died Thursday after it was caught and put on a truck to be taken to a farm, a local official said. The red Limousin beef cow fled Jan. 23 as it was to be transported to a slaughterhouse. It gained celebrity status as it defended its life and freedom, tricking searchers, swimming from island to island and roaming a lake-filled region near Nysa, in southwestern Poland.

COMMANDMENT I: If You Choose To Carry, Always Carry As Much As Possible Hollywood actors get to see the script beforehand, and nothing is fired at them but blanks. You don’t have either luxury. Criminals attack people in times and places where they don’t think the victims will be prepared for them. It’s what they do. The only way to be prepared to ward off such predators is to always be prepared: i.e., to be routinely armed and constantly ready to respond to deadly threats against you and those who count on you for protection. It’s not about convenience; it’s...

A new New Jersey ice cream shop called “Dairy Air” has shocked locals with its sexy cartoon cow logo — a bawdy beret-wearing bovine flaunting her curvy, branded derriere that one resident slammed as “offensive and sickening.” “This kind of marketing scheme is the reason we currently have a sexual predator in the White House,” Tingle continued, pleading in the note for the ice cream parlor to “reconsider” the logo design.

Since leaving the White House in January, Michelle Obama has stayed relatively quiet and deprived us of her almost daily power-dressing inspiration. However, the former FLOTUS stepped out in N.Y.C. on Thursday in a vibrant summer sundress that we’re seriously hoping to copy for our next warm-weather event. For a day out in Manhattan, Obama chose a knee-length frock with vertical stripes of shades of blue and green that elongated her frame. She paired the vibrant dress with cat-eye sunglasses, hoop earrings, and nude pointy-toe pumps, keeping her accessories minimal to let her dress take center stage. ADVERTISING Michelle Obama...

Michelle Obama went as low-key as Melania Trump had gone high-style, choosing to deliver her convention speech in a cobalt-blue silk crepe A-line dress with cap sleeves. The dress, custom-made by New York-based designer Christian Siriano, who shot to fame after winning the fourth season of “Project Runway” in 2008, fell to just below the knee and was paired with a pair of metallic heels that industry trade publication Footwear News identifies as Jimmy Choo pumps.

Donald Trump’s coronation as the GOP nominee will present plenty of opportunities for Republican amnesia and short-sightedness. The easiest thing to do, if you’re a conservative Republican, is to dismiss Trump as an aberration, as if his candidacy emerged out of a whirlwind. But that’s the work of revisionist historians, not honest observers of the last decade of Republican politics. Consider this recent tweet by Meghan McCain, the daughter of John McCain and now a commentator for Fox News: I hope history remembers those who gave up their conservative principles for the cult of personality and celebrity. And those who...

A small-town Alabama high school cheerleading coach was arrested on Tuesday on charges that she had a sexual relationship with a male student. The teacher is Katherine Nelson, reports The Birmingham News. Nelson, 29, is an English teacher at Brookwood High School in Brookwood, Ala. (pop: 1,828), just east of Tuscaloosa. She also coaches cheerleading and golf, and directs musical theater. The charge against the married teacher is engaging in a sex act with a student under the age of 19 (while also a school employee). Investigators say the sex occurred back during the 2012-2013 school year. The age of...

Firefighters in Britain said two crews responded to a report of a cow with its head stuck in a garden chair. Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue tweeted a picture showing the cow with its head trapped in a plastic lawn chair about 7:50 a.m. Thursday. The tweet said crews from Mounts and Wellingborough responded to the address in Boughton, England, to attempt to assist the boggled bovine. The fire department said the cow managed to "self-release" from its predicament, but not before firefighters snapped a picture of the cow wearing its unusual headgear.

DEKALB, TX (KSLA) - Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moo: A DeKalb, TX cow has managed the extremely rare feat of giving birth to 4 live calves. The black calves, 3 bulls and a heifer, were born to the cow owned by Dora Rumsey-Barling and her husband, Jimmy. The cow, described by Dora as "just a run of the mill red cow," had been bred to an Angus bull, so all 4 of the calves are black. “We didn't think she was due, even for one calf,” Dora says. Buzzards spotted circling over their 100-acre property in the Hubbard community south of...

Okay. Doesn't fall under "Breaking News" but, I don't post articles very often. So, I drop off my Alki friend so he can do some walk in/walk out bail thing at the Sheriffs Department. I'm bored and spy a Thai restaurant across the street. At first my thoughts were just about some delish lemongrass soup. So I walk in and order their lemongrass soup. But, they offered a twist I hadn't been offered at othe Thai restaurants "You want regular or spicy?". "Huh? Why I'll take spicy. I love spicy anything" I responded Well, they tried to talk me out...

So, I'm flipping through channels on the 80" tele and I see these bikers roll up on a house and unload their .45's into a house. Looking like they are merely sauntering as the homies in the house come chasing after them in Impala's. I yell at the TV "Thatz juzt stoopit. You go any slower and a blacktop machine is gonna speed past you. So they let the homies crawl after them, into a modern valley and death trap, using industrial buildings to box them in and a cavalry of other bikers suddenly surround the Impala ridin Homies. Short...

State transportation officials are refuting rancher Cliven Bundy’s claim that they are ultimately responsible for keeping his cattle off Interstate 15 in northeastern Clark County. In a statement Thursday, Mary Martini, district engineer for the Nevada Department of Transportation in Las Vegas, said that while the state maintains the fences along I-15 to “designate the right of way” and control access, “it is always the responsibility and liability of the owners to control their animals.” The dispute could be headed for court. Bundy was sued for negligence this week by a 34-year-old Las Vegas woman injured when her car hit...

Animals, especially cows, have been traditionally considered sacred in the Hindu culture and have symbolic significance as the vehicle of gods. They are believed to have great connection with the gods and occupy great importance in Indian myths, with some temples devoted just for their worship. Cows have always remained at the top of the holy animal hierarchy and are respected as "Go matha" or mother cow, who fulfills all the needs of her children; a gift of the gods. 'Gopujas' are also performed in various parts of India during festival seasons to worship cows. Recently, with an additional eye...

The 21st-century back-to-the-farm movement stems from our yearning to escape the artificiality of modern urban life. Yet the domesticated plants and animals now found in most gardens and farms are themselves artificial, the results of extensive human meddling, cross-breeding and genetic manipulation. Mankind began engineering what we now call “farm animals,” including cattle, all the way back in the Neolithic period, between 10,000 and 5,000 B.C. Try as you might, you won’t find an untamed Jersey cow that originated naturally in the wild, because no such thing exists — just like there’s no such thing as a wild labradoodle. Cattle...
