DES MOINES - Iowa’s caucus-reporting meltdown was painful. But another grenade from Monday night, just beyond the line of sight, may be just as consequential. For more than a year, Democrats have been preparing for high turnout in 2020, powered by an electorate juiced by rage against President Donald Trump. But in their first test of the year, early data suggested Tuesday that turnout was “on pace for 2016,” the Iowa Democratic Party said, far below levels many observers predicted. In other words: Democrats were counting on Barack Obama-levels of enthusiasm. They got Hillary Clinton numbers, instead. Looking at the...

Daniel, the Jeremiah of political commentary, dives deep with his guest on this episode. Seriously the most eye-opening education of how screwed Constitution-loving patriots really are dejure. It's rigged, in a legal sense, by the Democrats. We are out of our league posting on Twitter or FR or even the NY Post which is carrying the video of the Broward polling place with civilians leaving bags of ballots on the pavement unattended. The Dems are ahead of us at every step. We Are Doomed. But before the society burns, give a listen.

Back when my father introduced me to Free Republic in the mid-90's, The Clinton Body Count was a popular topic of discussion. Of course, back in those days, the Clinton Body Count was still only in the double-digit range and the details on the number of mysterious suicides, house fires, and car crashes were limited at best, or in some hard to search newspaper archive. To get nostalgic for the 90's, following Alamo Girls' indexing and research efforts, and occasionally making a contribution to those efforts, meant I probably spent more time on Free Republic than was healthy. Nevertheless, it...

Former Colorado state Republican party chairman Ryan Call talked to Laura Ingraham today to explain the delegation-selection process works and how it "cuts out any semblance of democracy or the popular will." Call said the statewide convention that chooses the delegates reinforces all the worst stereotypes of the party. "The very time we should be opening up our doors and being more open and transparent, and welcoming people into our Party, we’ve essentially made the decision to close it off and make it more cumbersome and more difficult. And, to prevent the ability of people to have their voice heard...

Microsoft volunteered to provide the technology to help tally up the results of Iowa's caucus, free of charge. Now it will be put to the test Monday night. The contests in both parties are expected to go down to the wire. And the spotlight will be on precinct officials who have been trained on a new Microsoft app, which is meant to cut down on human error and speed up the reporting process. Both the Republican and Democratic parties in Iowa have expressed strong confidence in Microsoft, dismissing late suspicion of corporate influence from the campaign of Sen. Bernie Sanders...

At least 5,177 people are known to have died in the world's worst recorded Ebola outbreak, the World Health Organization said on Friday, an increase of 17 since its last update on Wednesday. The total of 14,413 cases in eight countries includes 1,187 deaths in Sierra Leone, 1,166 in Guinea and 2,812 in Liberia. The Liberian toll has been revised downwards from 2,836 because of reclassification, the WHO said.

Granite Staters are repeatedly told — by Democratic politicians and the activist left — that voter fraud is a “myth” and that the only effect of voter ID laws is to “suppress” the vote. They repeat that spin even as instances of actual fraud pile up. The latest involves Lorin C. Schneider Jr. of Carver, Mass. It is a fact, documented by records in Hillsborough County Superior Court North, that Schneider has pled guilty to one felony and two misdemeanor charges of wrongful voting. According to the state Attorney General’s office, Schneider voted in Manchester’s Ward 9 in the presidential...

Here's what my lying eyes are telling me here in occupied Massachusetts. Four years ago every tenth car had an Obama sticker. Today, I see one or two Obama stickers a day. (And one or two Romney stickers.) I spend 2 hours commuting each day. So the Obama bumper sticker count in Massachusetts is down by AT LEAST 90%. That's telling. Enthusiasm is WAY down. What is the bumper sticker count like elsewhere?

Jerry Nelson, puppeteer and voice of The Count on Sesame Street, passed away today at age 78. Nelson voiced the Count von Count, along with other puppets, including Snuffleupagus for nearly 40 years on the children's program, and continued to voice the famed vampire until his death. Nelson passed away due to unknown causes, according to CBC Radio Canada. The following message was shared on Sesame Street's website regarding Nelson's passing: The cast and crew of Sesame Street and the staff of Sesame Workshop deeply mourn the loss of cast member and creator of dozens of Muppet characters, Jerry Nelson....

Jerry Nelson, a master of voices and puppetering who voiced Muppets including Count von Count during more than 40 years with "Sesame Street," has died. He was 78. Also a musician and actor, he took part in dozens of Muppet projects, from the 1971 TV movie "Tales From Muppetland: The Frog Prince," to 1979's "The Muppet Movie," to the 1980s series "Fraggle Rock," to last year's "The Muppets." Nelson joined "Sesame Street," which debuted in 1969, early in the show's run. He soon took on major characters including The Count, Mr. Snuffleupagus, and Sherlock Hemlock. "The cast and crew of...

Now, Romney’s foes are eying a different goal — keeping the front-runner from amassing the 1,144 needed to clinch the nomination by the time the last votes are cast on June 26 in Utah, a winner-take-all state that is all-but-certain to be in Romney’s win column. It’s a play that would, they hope, set up a potential fight at the convention.

The hot topic in DC these days is cutting spending. Everybody is talking about it, but Rep. Cynthia Lummis from Wyoming is doing something about it. She has introduced a bill (HR1996) to end wasteful spending that should have been stopped years ago. The Government Litigation Savings Act will put an end to some of the ridiculous payments made to GAGs (Green Advocacy Groups) for far too many years. Here is a summary of legal fees paid to GAGs from your tax dollars: (source) 2003 – 10,595 individual payments totaling $1,081,328,420.00 2004 – 8,161 individual payments totaling $800,450,029.00 2005 –...

A conservative incumbent surged to a commanding lead in Wisconsin's hotly contested Supreme Court election Thursday, after a predominantly GOP county's clerk announced she had incorrectly entered vote totals in the race seen as a referendum on Republican Gov. Scott Walker's divisive union rights law. Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus said more than 14,000 votes weren't reported to The Associated Press on Tuesday due to "human error." Nickolaus previously worked for a GOP caucus that was under the control of Justice David Prosser, who was speaker of the Assembly at the time and who now stands to benefit

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports: The latest vote count in the state Supreme Court race in Winnebago County indicates incumbent David Prosser is leading Assistant Attorney General JoAnne Kloppenburg in votes. A tally compiled by The Associated Press Wednesday and used by news organizations statewide, including the Journal Sentinel, indicated Kloppenburg was leading the race by 204 votes. Figures on Winnebago County's website are now different from those collected by the AP. Winnebago County's numbers say Prosser received 20,701 votes to Kloppenburg's 18,887.

The Minnesota governor's race is so close it has come to this: another recount appears almost certain. With 99 percent of precincts reporting, DFLer Mark Dayton leads Republican Tom Emmer by less than one half of 1 percent -- 43.67% to 43.24%. For any race where the margin is less than one half of 1 percent, there is an automatic recount, as happened two years ago in Minnesota's U.S. Senate race. "It looks like it's recount part II: And this time it's personal," said state Republican Party Chair Tony Sutton.
