Two people are dead – and two others critically wounded – after a spate of shootings across the city Saturday night, authorities said. The bloodshed began in Brooklyn at about 5:40 p.m. when a 36-year-old man was fatally shot in front of a dry cleaning business on Church Avenue near Ocean Avenue in Flatbush-Ditmas Park. Just over two hours later in the Bronx, gunfire erupted outside of 724 East Tremont Avenue, leaving a 25-year-old man dead and a 34-year-old woman in critical condition.

Two convicted murderers made a daring escape from a maximum-security prison by drilling through cell walls,stealing through plumbing tunnels and then climbing out a manhole, authorities said Saturday. A massive search is underway.

I have read what is happening in New York with frustration. Already a progressive haven from way DL, Gov. Cuomo seems to be on a liberal legislative frenzy. New York's restrictive gun law was put into place so quickly that it will have to be amended for police. Abortion law changes that will fly in the face of a significant Catholic population, some of which actually pay attention. What else is next? (as if that is not enough!) Ambushing Andy Cuomo's gaffe? He dares to criticize a Latina official. The N.Y. Times recently published a three-part series on neglect in N.Y. state's homes for mentally ill adults. (No, I couldn't bring myself to read it either!) In response, Andrew Cuomo, running for N.Y. governor, called for the resignation of the official whose department oversees the homes, state health commissioner Dr. Antonia Novello.
