The organization planning to build an Islamic community center near the World Trade Center said the imam who has been the public face of the project, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, will be playing a reduced role in the facility. The nonprofit group Park51 announced Friday that it had named a new imam to help lead religious programing so that Rauf could focus on other initiatives. Rauf announced late this fall that he would be starting a global movement that would fight extremism and promote better relations between people of different faiths and cultures. He is set to start a national...

Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer Spencer and I are speaking at Temple University next week (where the craven quislings tried to silence Geert Wilders after trying to ban him). Thought you might like a look at the open minded "Democratic Socialists" at Temple. Here is the note from the brave organizers: At a State of the Campus Address in which at least 280 leaders from all student organizations were present, the Democratic Socialists announced that they were organizing a protest against TU Purpose's Islamophobic event next week. They concluded by calling TU Purpose and me Bigots. Atlas readers heads up....

(CNN) -- Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the religious leader behind plans to erect an Islamic center and mosque a few blocks from New York's ground zero, said Wednesday night that moving it to another location would embolden Islamic radicals and help them incite violence against Americans. "If we move from that location, the story will be the radicals have taken over the discourse," Rauf told CNN's Soledad O'Brien on "Larry King Live." Rauf said he was speaking about "radicals" on both sides of the debate on the Islamic center. "Our national security now hinges on how we negotiate this, how...

OK, so I've been going around with a few friends about the Ground Zero mosque. They've bought into the entire "community Center" thing as if the Muslims are well known for their good works. Off the top of my head, I can think of dozens of community services or good works started by Christians or others with Christian attitudes, but I'm hard pressed to come up with anything the muslims are known for. Any ideas? And, if it's a "Community Center" is the general community welcome to enter.

In his fiercest defense yet of the mosque proposed near Ground Zero, Mayor Bloomberg declared yesterday that it must be allowed to proceed because the government "shouldn't be in the business of picking" one religion over another. "I think it's fair to say if somebody was going to try, on that piece of property, to build a church or a synagogue, nobody would be yelling and screaming," the mayor said. "And the fact of the matter is that Muslims have a right to do it, too."

The area around the former World Trade Center is a sacred space. It is a place where thousands of Americans' lives were taken by the purveyors of a hostile ideology based on Islam. The Cordoba House, a 13-story mosque and Islamic cultural center planned for a site near Ground Zero, is at best inappropriate, and at worst an attempt to hijack the memory of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.... The United States should ban any overseas funding for construction of religious sites originating in countries that do not allow religious freedom and end the one-way relationship that allows those promoting...

Political Correctness: While New York City OKs construction of a "monster mosque" at ground zero, the feds pay rent to a D.C. mosque tied to the Pentagon attack. Have we gone totally soft? Imagine on the 10th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, we let the Japanese erect a cultural center at the site of that attack. Exactly. It would never happen. So why are Manhattan officials bowing to demands by a group called the American Society for Muslim Advancement to open — on of all days, Sept. 11, 2011 — a 13-story shrine to Islam in the shadow of the beautiful...

Hello New Yorkers and all Americans out there. Save the date, June 6, 2010 and come to Ground Zero for a rally to stop the spread of Islam in the US. It is time that this little known news item gets blasted into the public arena. This story has had a very low profile, in spite of the fact that the NY Times had it on their front page on the December 8th. Since then, there has been very little publicity or follow up stories. (Link: www.nytimes.com/2009/12/09/nyregion/09mosque.html?_r=1&pagewanted=1&ref=nyregion) The background information begins on 9/11 at 45 Park Place, the Burlington Building,...

Mysterious Group Buys Building Next to Ground Zero For Mosque Wednesday, December 16, 2009 Jim Hoft A mysterous Muslim group with unknown sponsors has purchased a building steps away from Ground Zero. Hudson New York reported: An identified group with unknown sponsors has purchased building steps away from where the WorldTrade Center once stood — to turn it into potentially one of the largest New York City mosques. At the moment the building, the old Burlington Coat Factory, already serves as a mini-mosque: an iron grill lifts every Friday afternoon for a little known Imam leading prayers a few yards...
