On December 1, Texas state representative Matthew Krause (R-Ft. Worth) introduced legislation barring the in-state enforcement of nearly any federal gun control measure "past, present or future." The legislation, HB422, "requires the state to refuse to enforce" federal gun control measures which infringe on the exercise of the Second Amendment.

Gun control advocates used plight of iconic California condor to push legislation. A pro-hunting group is up in arms after obtaining emails that it says indicate that a federal official withheld critical data on lead blood levels in the California condor until after gun control advocates in the California state legislature used the iconic bird’s plight to help push through a law last year to ban lead ammunition. ... Lawrence Keane, NSSF senior vice president and general counsel, accused the Fish and Wildlife Service of deliberately sitting on the report in order to bolster the chances of passage of Assembly...

A “coalition” of local police departments, municipalities and clergy members are pushing for a “form of gun control without legislation” by pressuring gun manufacturers to start utilizing controversial “smart” gun technology, CBS New York reports. The advocacy coalition believes smart gun technology — which makes it so only the owner can fire the gun — and inventory tracking can help reduce gun violence. So far, 59 different jurisdictions have called on Glock and six other gun makers to “produce distribution records,” the report adds. “We want to use the power of the marketplace, the power of the free market,” New...

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania state legislator exchanged gunfire with a would-be robber near the state Capitol in Harrisburg, city police said Wednesday. Rep. Marty Flynn and another lawmaker were walking to their residence after a late dinner with other legislators when two males accosted them and demanded their wallets just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, police said. Flynn is a former Lackawanna County prison guard who is licensed to carry a handgun. He drew his pistol and fired during the attempted holdup. At least one of the two would-be robbers was armed, police said, but neither Flynn nor the...

So now the federal health bureaucrats in charge of controlling diseases and pandemics want more money to do their jobs. Hmph. Maybe if they hadn't been so busy squandering their massive government subsidies on everything but their core mission, we taxpayers might actually feel a twinge of sympathy. At $7 billion, the Centers for Disease Control 2014 budget is nearly 200 percent bigger now than it was in 2000. Those evil, stingy Republicans actually approved CDC funding increases in January larger than what President Obama requested. What are we getting for this ever-increasing amount of money? Answer: A power-hungry busybody...

Likud Central Committee Chairman Danny Danon on Monday weighed in on the spat between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and US President Barack Obama's administration, warning that Israel cannot be bought. The falling out focuses on a construction project to build 2,610 new homes in the Jewish Jerusalem neighborhood of Givat Hamatos, which while slated for construction since 2012 was only given final approval last week, opening the path for bids sometime in the future. "President Obama is mistaken if he thinks American military aid, which is given for reasons of American strategic interests, buys him the right to dictate to...

Last May, I covered the work of Defense Distributed with regard to its building of tools for individuals to 3D-print their own firearms in the post. Meet “The Liberator”: The World’s First Fully 3D-Printed Firearm, In it, I noted: 3D-printing, like decentralized crypto currencies, have the potential to change the world in which we live in extraordinary ways. Ways that are almost inconceivable at this point given we are so early in the game. More than anything else, these technologies can empower the individual like never before, and I think that is generally a very good thing. While all sixteen...

Top White House officials on Friday worked to reassure the American public that the national response to Ebola is under control. Leaders of the country’s health, defense and military branches stressed that they are taking the right steps to contain the spread of the deadly virus, which was first diagnosed in the U.S. on Tuesday. “We know how to do this, and we will do it again,” Lisa Monaco, assistant to the president for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, said at a press briefing. “It’s very important to remind the American people that U.S. has the most capable healthcare system and...

Back in March, the U.S. government announced that it would relinquish control over ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. [snip] One group, seizing on the Commerce Department’s assurances that ICANN would be moving towards a model of private management, were hopeful that the lack of government involvement could lead to a better, more efficient internet. Just as a government run post office will never outperform a privately run one, they reasoned, it was right for government to relax its hold on internet domains. [snip]The second group, while still recognizing the benefits of privatization, smelled a rat. They...

We are seeing how easy it is for government, with the collusion and connivance of the media and the education establishment, to spiral out of the control of the people Oh, Well… Constitution Day has come and gone and not surprisingly, hardly anyone noticed. The Constitution has become irrelevant to all but a few endangered Republicans on Capitol Hill, and is totally ignored or twisted beyond recognition by all - repeat, all – Democrats. This, of course, includes all the members, young and old, of the Ministry of Leftist Propaganda, aka, the “mainstream” media.

First off, besides the content of the article (which we’ll get to), I can almost write an entire article on the image that was included with the post. The image is accompanied by a caption that reads “These guns can be purchased anywhere in Georgia and carried into a church,...

The supermarket ‘talking’ shopping cart Michelle Obama will use to push her over-the-top approved food list is a power push over unsuspecting masses, but would serve as the perfect replacement for her husband’s omnipresent rising sun logo. Six years ago, Barack Hussein Obama arrogantly made himself the rising sun in a logo by putting the sun under his stylized ‘O’, but his wife may have inadvertently come up with a better logo symbol to represent the empty life Barack Obama is bequeathing Americans: Michelle’s government-controlled supermarket shopping cart.

  • Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Grants Itself Authority to Shut Down Any Busine

Last week the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, through the power of Dodd-Frank, passed a rule giving the agency unprecedented power to shut down businesses, no matter what the reason, at any time it wishes through a cease-and-desist order. Further, the rule puts businesses at the mercy of the CFPB and they cannot go back into operation until government approval or a court ruling is made over an issue. Subsequently because bureaucratic decisions and court rulings take a substantial amount of time to happen, businesses cannot survive during those waiting periods. Here are the details (bolding is mine):
