Parkland shooting survivor Cameron Kasky ignited Twitter this week with what appeared to be an inaccurate claim regarding the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. In the wake of last month’s Parkland school shooting that left 17 people dead, Kasky and some of his classmates have emerged as vocal proponents of stricter gun control measures. As part of that push for more gun control, Kasky tweeted Tuesday that the “second amendment has no restrictions,” a claim that was quickly debunked on Twitter and elsewhere.

President Trump said the Second Amendment will never be repealed, despite a call for this by liberal activists and most recently, former United States Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens. “THE SECOND AMENDMENT WILL NEVER BE REPEALED! As much as Democrats would like to see this happen, and despite the words yesterday of former Supreme Court Justice Stevens, NO WAY. We need more Republicans in 2018 and must ALWAYS hold the Supreme Court!” the president wrote on Twitter early Monday morning. Stevens penned an op-ed in The New York Times arguing that the level of civic engagement by young people...

In what may be deemed another non-solution from lawmakers on gun-control, some Florida students will now be required to use clear backpacks when on school grounds. Last week, Broward County public school superintendent Robert Runcie announced that the district planned to implement a “solution” to avoid gun violence and that, after Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s spring break ended, students would be required to use clear backpacks if they wanted to be admitted on school grounds. According to The Blaze, however, student David Hogg has spoken out about the requirement and argued that district officials’ “solution” is rather an infringement...

“On Wednesday March 7, 2018, I was asked to address a group in West Asheville and relay information as it pertains to current gun legislation in NC.,” Buncombe County Sheriff candidate R. Daryl Fisher told visitors to his campaign Facebook page. “I took this opportunity to relay proposals on what I believe to be sensible gun legislation. “A group”? Why not just come out and say it was Michaels Bloomberg’s Moms Demand Action? “As a candidate for Sheriff, I cannot enact legislation,” Fisher goes on to deflect. “If elected Sheriff I cannot enact legislation. But as a candidate for Sheriff,...

Thanks to the 17th Amendment, which slowly neutered the senate and eventually the entire congress, an administrative state performs legislative, executive and judicial functions. Congress goes far out of its way to avoid lawmaking and oversight of the agencies it created. The final straw should have been Obama’s Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and Obamacare Death Panels. These agencies were set up to operate beyond the reach of the institution that created them. As such, they are even further displaced from the electorate than previous executive branch agencies. As an additional outrage, the fees and penalties the administrative state inflicts...

“The progressive Republicans have won. The progressive Democrats have won.” “Where’s Mitch McConnell?” LevinTV host Mark Levin asked on his radio program after President Trump signed Congress’ $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill on Friday. “Has anybody seen or heard from Mitch McConnell? I mean, he’s the guy behind the scenes. He’s the Svengali who put all this together. He’s the good-for-nothing, big-spending, deal-cutting, self-serving phony politician who put this all together behind closed doors and threatens his colleagues in the Senate should they dare to challenge him or question him.” Levin criticized McConnell, the rest of Congress, and the president...

Brenda Arthur received an unexpected visit on March 8 that, one week later, leaves her feeling more than a little uneasy. At her door that day was an officer with the West Virginia State Police. He wanted to know about her involvement in a Freedom of Information request regarding a local mosque. Arthur, who will turn 67 this summer, is leader of the West Virginia chapter of ACT For America, whose mission is to educate Americans about the advancement of Islamic principles in Western societies.

An attorney from a New Jersey gun organization association announced that a lawsuit may be pending after a school disciplined two students for going to a gun range outside of school hours. Patch.com reported that attorney Daniel Schmutter, with the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs, sent a letter to Lacey Township School District officials after two students posted pictures on Snapchat showing them at a gun range. There was no threatening context to the pictures or anything that would otherwise cause alarm. In the letter, Schmutter stated that suspending the two students for posting photos off school...

Saturday, Rep. Ted Deutch (D-FL) discussed the bill Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed Friday to raise the purchase of long firearms from the age of 18 to 21, calling it “merely the beginning” of the response to last month’s Parkland, FL, shooting. The National Rifle Association (NRA) sued the state of Florida over the provision, saying it violates the Second Amendment. “This provision that requires someone to be 21 to buy a gun would have prevented the 19-year-old shooter, who bought an AR-15 and used it to kill 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas — that’s what the provision would...

“GOV. RICK SCOTT CAVES: SIGNS $400 MILLION GUN CONTROL BILL: by Dr. Michael J. Hurd Exactly why do we have Republican governors again? Of course, he felt compelled to “do something”. To not “do something” would seem like a failure to honor the victims of the Florida government school slaughter last month. At least if you think the government has the power to stop such shootings by disarming the innocent and doing nothing whatsoever to protect them, such as arming teachers or privatizing schools. “Doing something” is often worse than doing nothing. The Republican Governor’s bill includes provisions to prevent...

To cleanse the palate, I’m not even going to scold him for making a mockery of the legislative process. We elected a game-show host president, for fark’s sake. Besides, as a matter of self-promotion, this stunt isn’t half bad. Drew Christensen is all of 24 years old and has been a state representative since he was 22(!). He’s not just a backbencher, he’s a freakishly young backbencher. His influence in the statehouse is about as small as it can possibly be. What do you do with your time when the odds of one of your bills becoming law is essentially...

No, Mr. Attorney-General, secession and nullification are not settled law. Laws against nullification and secession are the illegitimate offspring of the War of Independence. The Founders were secessionists, no, Mr. Sessions? Were you asleep during your 6th grade history class as much you are today? Every government that exceeds its constitutionally mandated powers is illegitimate. As such, the states are free to go. Haven’t you noticed that the federal government has completely trashed the Tenth Amendment guaranteeing the states and the people the power of authority over those powers not granted the federal government under Article 1, Section 8? When...

Subtitle: Continuing the March of Folly. The eight Obama years felt something like a sequel to Barbara Tuchman’s The March of Folly. Didn’t you scream inside every time he usurped or ignored the law and congress did nothing about it? His election and reelection lent credence to the sorry fact that nations often disregard the lessons of history. This wasn’t so with our Framing generation. From history’s offerings they embraced the good and shunned the bad. By a large measure our Constitution is a compilation of dos and don’ts, of lessons learned from England’s Stuart Age (1603-1714). Without a written...

HB 2951 has been introduced in the Oklahoma House. It is an interesting version of Constitutional Carry. The bill adds self-defense to the list of activities that are exceptions to the general prohibition on carrying weapons that exist in Oklahoma law. It includes knives as well as guns. From koco.com: Coody said House Bill 2951 is about law-abiding citizens protecting themselves in worst-case situations. The proposed legislation says anyone 21 or older, or at least 18 years old and a veteran or enlisted military member, would be able to carry a gun or rifle without a license. Here is the...

....Dick’s Sporting Goods made headlines with their decision to cut some guns from their catalog... Griffin McCullar, an employee, penned this resignation letter. “I am putting in my two weeks notice. I greatly apologize as my job here has been great; the staff is phenomenal and very easy to work with, the management is full of great people, and the pay is good. I do not have one bad thing to say about this store. However I cannot be the face of these new gun policies in affect. I find them morally and constitutionally wrong. I refuse to be part...

Without guns: We would not have won the Revolutionary War against the British Empire, the biggest empire in the world. They fought fiercely to retain their colony, no empire wants to give up anything! Without guns the Constitution would have meant nothing! The British would have taken the Constitution and wiped their a$$es with it while laughing in our faces. Without guns there would be no land of opportunity. The British would have continued to grind us down until we became serfs. They didn't care about reason or philosophy, they cared about retaining their power and their wealth at others...

Courts are faulting the search, but allowing the information, as case law lags behind technology Emilio Jean won his appeal, but he might as well have lost. Arizona law-enforcement officers violated Mr. JeanÂ’s privacy rights when they rigged a GPS device to a tractor-trailer he was co-piloting and tracked it for three days without a warrant, the stateÂ’s highest court ruled in January. But the Arizona court declined to throw out the illegally obtained evidence, a move that likely would have set Mr. Jean free. Instead, he is serving the rest of his 10-year prison sentence for attempting to haul...
