T’was the day before Christmas, when all through the House Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The Senate were huddled in Chambers with care, In hopes that health care soon would be there. The sickly were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of coverage danced in their heads. And Obama in his kitchen, and I in my bed, Had just sold our future for a long , long, long debt. When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. Away to the TV...

We all sicken at the thought of the trillions of dollars being wasted by the Obama administration under the pretext of economic stimulus (18 million dollar websites, etc.) And we all have to restrain ourselves from throwing our shoes through the television as we watch the openly defiant nefarious dealings by the arrogant corrupt mental midgets in congress rush passage of their ill fated health care plan. But we should take a moment to regress a little. Two months prior to the 2008 election President Bush, under the reprehensible misguided advice of Hank Paulson (Secretary of the Treasury), rushed to...

I’ve argued before, and I will continue to argue, that there is nothing terribly unique about Sarah Palin as a politician other than the way in which her opponents and the media play right into her hands by treating her as if she is somehow uniquely important and/or devious. Today, Dave Weigel documents another set of examples of this, demonstrating the ways in which the media’s (and, for that matter, Palin’s opponents’) insistence on paying attention to her Facebook and Twitter ramblings, making them into major stories, even if with the intention of disproving those ramblings. The entire post is...

Allahpundit: Via Weasel Zippers. The money line: “Are you going to keep building your party with Dixiecrats, ex-Democrats, who think the Democratic party is too mainstream?” Savor that last word, as it suggests that a party pushing a signature bill that’s now -20 in net approval in some polls is the one that speaks for the great “mainstream.” The idea of a liberal silent majority goes hand in hand with the idea of the GOP as a radical collective, which is where the confederacy meme comes in here. Nothing new for “Hardball”: Kathleen Parker pushed that smear herself back in...

Time magazine may think U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is 2009’s “Person of the Year,” but Time is wrong: 2009 was dominated by Barack Obama, even though it wasn’t a great year for him. Obama’s human frailties surfaced. Words, not deeds, are his forte. Critics and fans tended to agree that, so far, his presidency is one of great intentions (if not great expectations). He’s good at saying what he’d like to do, but has difficulty doing (or being able to do) very much. Cheerleaders confuse rhetoric with results. Obama is the most accessible president in recent times. He’s...

Amid the furor over how Sens. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., and Ben Nelson, D-Neb., would vote on the health bill, there was little talk regarding Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter. Since switching from Republican to Democrat in April, Specter has been a reliable vote for his new party’s health plans. His main objections to the final Senate health bill were its lack of a public option and its restrictions on abortion funding. Now maybe he would have voted yes even if he were still a Republican. But party-switchers tend to shift their voting patterns significantly. After all of the left-liberal gnashing of...

14-TERM CONGRESSMAN ENDS SPECULATION OVER RETIREMENT Congressman John Spratt has ended months of speculation over whether he will resign or run to retain his seat next year. On Monday, the 14-term Democrat officially filed for re-election with the Federal Election Commission (FEC). The FEC filing showed Spratt, 67, with nearly $600,000 cash-on-hand. He is currently South Carolina’s longest-serving Congressman. A number of media outlets had been probing Spratt’s intentions of late, which likely pressured him into making a decisive move before he lost the support of his 5th district base. “Washington is sort of like an echo chamber,” Spratt told...

GOP candidate needed to run against Henry Cuellar in Texas 28. This Dem will get automatically re-elected unless someone files by Jan. 4. This district runs southwest from San Antonio to McAllen. There must be someone who could run! See the Texas GOP website for a list of candidates who have filed.

Senior White House adviser David Axelrod on Sunday brushed aside expert predictions that Democrats will suffer steep losses in next year’s midterm congressional elections. “I think we're gonna have a good result next – next November,” Axelrod told David Gregory, host of NBC’s “Meet the Press.” Though Axelrod quickly added “I'm not gonna predict where we are,” he roundly dismissed suggestions that Democrats will pay the price at the ballot box for their efforts to push through health care reform legislation, and suggested that President Obama’s sub-50-percent approval rating in most polls is unrelated to his heavy investment in the...

In a late night posting on her Twitter feed, Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin continued to blast climate change believers Friday, calling the talks in Copenhagen, Denmark a representation of man's "arrogance," for believing people have an impact on nature. "Arrogant&Naive2say man overpwers nature," Palin tweeted. "Earth saw clmate chnge4 ions;will cont 2 c chnges.R duty2responsbly devlop resorces4humankind/not pollute&destroy;but cant alter naturl chng," the former Republican vice presidential nominee wrote. Palin's latest comments come after weeks of tangling over climate change with California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, former vice president Al Gore, and President Obama. In an op-ed in the Washington...

We hear the same old story time after time “the republican party has gotten away from its core principles”. Another favorite line by republican leaders “we are going to take the country back’. My question is what the hell are we going to do if the country is taken back by republicans? The republican party is full of renegades and RINO’s. If you think for one minute these renegades and RINO’s will make the acute change in direction the country needs – guess again. If the Republican Party is going to get back to its core principles and make the...

The Republican field of contenders in the 3rd district U.S. House race became a little bit clearer Monday morning. State Sen. Jeff Colyer, R-Overland Park, sent out an announcement that he won't run, and he strongly endorsed former state Sen. Nick Jordan, a Shawnee Republican who lost a bid for the seat in 2008 to Rep. Dennis Moore, the Lenexa Democrat who will retire after this term. “I am grateful for the support and encouragement of so many friends regarding this race. I love public service and enjoy campaigning, but now is not the right time for me to be...

Bickering between Republican 1st Congressional District hopeful Rep. Raul Labrador and GOP Sen. Mike Jorgenson continued Wednesday after Jorgenson accused Labrador of using personal attacks to avoid a discussion of the issues. Jorgenson, a Hayden Republican, called for Labrador, of Eagle, to drop out of the race shortly after he launched his campaign. The Associated Press reported the two have clashed numerous times in the past. In a Wednesday e-mail, Jorgenson cited instances he claimed show conflict between Labrador's stated position on immigration issues and his actions. Labrador dismissed Jorgenson's criticism, calling him ill-informed on immigration issues and said his...

Just amazing how the news media (fox cable included) is so politically correct it refuses to call a spade a spade. Take the current nefarious dealings going on in Congress. Vote buying like you’ve never seen before. These career politicians are selling their votes, along with their morals, for promised pork in their districts. Only the corrupt and shameless human beings would ever consider being a party to the openly defiant corruption going on in the world's largest Congressional Cesspool. The news media refers to these criminal activities as sausage making. They claim this is how legislation is made. And...

looks like Jeff McGeary may be tossing his hat into the conservative candidates for congress pool for the 8th District of PA. Jeff announced at the Thomas Jefferson Club Holiday party tonite that he's setting up an exploratory committee. So, now we have Jeffery Shcott, Dean Malik, Judith Algeo, Rob Mitchell and Jeff McGeary. Stay tuned this could get interesting.

Now you’re catching on (for those thicker than thick). It will take votes from the Republicans. It will take votes from Democrats. It will take vote from Independents. It will get votes from those who never vote because they are disgusted with career politics. Most of all – it will take enough votes to win. Thomas Littlefella Link To Support Real Change .

Recent Poll – in the 2010 election who would you vote for in Congress? Democrat 36% Tea Party 23% Republican 18% Not Sure 22% Last night a Third Party was discussed by Bill O’Reilly and Greta Van Susteren. Today Glenn Beck touched on the issue. People are very angry with Obama and Congress. Over 60% of Americans want to throw all the bums in Congress out of office. But O’Reilly, Van Susteren, and Beck still don’t get it – A Political Third Party Will Never Win – It Will Take a NON POLITICAL Third Party to win. You have to...

Freshman Rep. Dina Titus (D-Nev.) is tied with Republican challenger Joe Heck in a new poll of 3rd district voters conducted by Mason Dixon Polling for the Las Vegas Review-Journal Nov. 30 through Dec. 2. The poll's 300-person sample was small, however, while it had a 6 percent margin of error. Titus and Heck, a Henderson, Nev. physician who switched from the governor's race to the congressional field in October, each received 40 percent of the vote in the hypothetical match-up, while 20 percent of the electorate remained undecided. While Heck received the support of 80 percent of GOP voters,...

Sarah Palin may have some ‘splainin’ to do with the conservative fans on her book tour as word spreads of her partying Saturday night with the elites of the dread Mainstream Media. In her featured “roast,” the media types even got off easier than her former associates on the McCain campaign. Sometimes you’ve got “to trust your instincts,” she told the group. “And when you don’t, you end up in a place like this.” The former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate stopped in Washington to be the Republican speaker at the annual black-tie winter dinner of the Gridiron Club,...

“This is the opportunity that pretty much all of these people have labored in the vineyards for years to bring to fruition,” Kensinger said. “And the spirit around them is pretty good.” Former state Sen. Nick Jordan, who lost to Moore by 16 points in 2008, was in a good position to hit the ground running after Moore’s announcement. He said he had been actively considering another run against Moore for the past two months and was boosted by a poll paid for by some of his donors that showed him with a strong name identification in the 3rd District...

New Jersey Governor-elect Chris Christie, last night, at back-to-back fundraisers praised the character and other attributes of Pat Meehan who is the GOP nominee to represent Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District which is being vacated by Joe "Chicken Little" Sestak who is seeking Arlen "Henny Penny" Specter's senate seat.

Doylestown Township lawyer and Air Force veteran, whose political interest was steeped in Bucks County's Tea Party movement, Tuesday announced he will seek the Republican nomination for Congress for PA's 8th District. At the Elkins Gallery in the Mercer Museum, Rob Mitchell told family and supporters that if elected he would bring common sense to Congress and support allowing business to solve national problems. "I am running for congress because I trust the wisdom of the American people more than I trust the judgment of the Washington elites," he said, a theme repeated several times during his 15 minute speech....

Washington Examiner reports on the demo proposed health care bill. "Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius would be awarded unprecedented new powers under the proposal, including the authority to decide what medical care should be covered by insurers as well as the terms and conditions of coverage and who should receive it...The HHS secretary would also have the power to decide where abortion is allowed under a government-run plan." The end result would be the federal government having direct control over the insurance market as opposed to the current system where the states have the discretionary power to regulate...

Calling himself not the most likely candidate to unseat U.S. Senator Chris Dodd, State Sen. Sam Caligiuri withdrew from that race Tuesday and entered the Fifth Congressional District race. His move came about one week after Connecticut Republican Party chairman Chris Healy encouraged him to switch. In so doing, Caligiuri runs against fellow Republicans Justin Bernier and Mark Greenberg, and Democratic incumbent Chris Murphy. State Sen. Andrew Roraback, R-30, endorsed Caligiuri, with whom he has worked for years. Calling Caligiuri a person of integrity, Roraback does not believe Caligiuri hurts himself by switching races. “I think he is helped because...

Trevor Francis, communications director of the Republican National Committee, abruptly resigned Monday, and two Republican strategists familiar with the situation said he was pushed out because Chairman Michael Steele didn’t feel he was getting enough credit for the GOP’s electoral success earlier this month. Francis had only been in the job since March, and neither he nor the RNC veered from the sort of vague explanations that typically suggest a less-than-amicable political breakup. RNC spokeswoman Gail Gitcho would only say that Francis was “pursuing other opportunities,” and Francis allowed just that he was “returning to my career in the private...

State Rep. Kevin Yoder (R) wasted little time acting on Rep. Dennis Moore's (D-Kan.) retirement announcement, opening an exploratory committee this morning. Yoder, an attorney, made the announcement in a press release. He is currently in his fourth term in the state House, where he serves as chairman of the Appropriations Committee. "As our nation faces unprecedented challenges, we must have new energy and a fresh response" Yoder said. "Wasteful overspending in Washington threatens to bankrupt our nation's future. Government must learn to live within its means and we must endeavor to reduce bureaucracy and barriers to success."

The Pat Meehan fundraiser featuring New Jersey Gov-Elect Chris Christie will be in the 7th District after all. The event had been reported as taking place in Philadelphia. Well, it's 7-9 p.m., Dec. 2 at the Concordville Inn in Concord, Delaware County. Meehan, the former United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, is the GOP's pick to fill the seat being vacated by Joe "I Want To Impoverish Your Children" Sestak who is trying to replace fellow Democrat Arlen "I Want To Impoverish Your Children, Too" Specter as one of Pennsylvania's senators.

Former Marine Nick Popaditch, aka the Cigar Marine, is running for the Republican nomination to challange the incumbent Democrat in the California 51st Congressional race for 2010. He needs your support. The district is heavily Democratic and he faces an uphill struggle but this Marine is one tough opponent. This man is a true war hero, not some "Swift Boat" wannabe. His slogan, "A Marines word is his bond", says it all. He gained national popularity when he was photographed atop his tank turret smoking a cigar at the fall of Baghdad. Later in the war he was seriously wounded...

Will the man who questioned Sen. Arlen Specter and Health and Human Services Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius...run for Congress? Rob Mitchell, seen in this video posed this question...Rob, a grass-roots, concerned citizen, Air Force ROTC, served in the Air Force, small-business owner and former military medical law attorney wants to run for Congress to unseat Patrick Murphy, a self-proclaimed, Blue Dog Democrat who takes marching orders from Nancy Pelosi. http://www.rob4congress.com/

Despite already having seven candidates who have filed to run against U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, the Republican Party continues to hunt for a prominent challenger for the controversial Orlando Democrat. And state Rep. Kurt Kelly is ready to assume the mantle - if no other big-name Republican is willing to do so. The Ocala Republican said in an interview Wednesday that he's waiting to see how the GOP search for a candidate in Grayson's 8th District shakes out before deciding to enter the race. But he would "seriously consider" challenging Grayson under the right circumstances.

New Jersey Governer-elect Chris Christie will headline a Dec. 2 fundraiser for congressional candidate Pat Meehan who is seeking to swing the Pennsylvania 7th seat now held by Joe Sestak back to the GOP. With Sestak running for senate, the front-runner to represent the Dems in the race is State Rep. Bryan Lentz (D-161) albeit it State Rep. Greg Vitali (D-166), environmental lawyer Gail Conner, and political consultant Teresa Touey have also expressed interest in the seat.

Looking for a scapegoat for her poor showing in New York’s 23rd Congressional race, Dede Scozzafava has chosen every liberals favorite, Sarah Palin. Scozzafava in an interview slammed Sarah Palin for “attacking” her, when in reality Palin only endorsed her opponent Doug Hoffman. But then again to liberals if you don’t support them you’re attacking them. I love the way the media is describing Dede Scozzafava even now; they say she’s a “moderate” Republican. CNN describes her as the “face of moderate republicanism”; refusing to call Scozzafava what she is, a liberal. Sarah Palin simply chose principle over party; Dede...

One of the two Republicans challenging freshman Rep. Walt Minnick (D-Idaho) is ending his 2010 campaign in the 1st district. State Rep. Ken Roberts (R) said in a statement Tuesday that he was withdrawing “with great reluctance” because of an unspecified and “unexpected health issue that has affected my candidacy and hampered my ability to make this run.” “I feel that it is my responsibility to my family to step out of the race at this time and concentrate on my health,” Roberts said. Roberts’ withdrawal leaves Vaughn Ward, a former Senate aide and CIA employee who served in Iraq...

"Rob is running to restore economic common sense in Washington and bring growth and prosperity to Kansas," said Senator John McCain. "He embodies the spirit and values of Kansas, and will bring those values with him to Washington. He has always worked hard for Kansas and I know he will serve the citizens of Kansas well in Congress. Rob Wasinger has the right experience, vision, and values to lead Kansas into an era of economic growth and prosperity. He is an exemplary public servant we can trust."

Not only was Congressman Joe "Grandma Doesn't Need That Pacemaker, And We Don't Like Children Anyhow" Sestak (D-7Pa.) among the 220 votes last night for socializing American medicine, he was also among the 194 opposing the Stupak Amendment that would have kept the public tax-supported plan from covering abortions. Approval of the Stupak Amendment was required for the socialism to proceed. I guess we know where Joe's priorities lie -- socialism is good but abortion is better.

In the strange world of politics, where up is down and down is up, Republicans tout as a victory David Harmer's 10-point loss to Democrat John Garamendi in Tuesday's special congressional race. With an 18-point party registration advantage, off-the-charts name identification and double the cash of his opponent, Republicans say Garamendi should have won with a far bigger margin. "Harmer winning 43 percent of the vote in an overwhelmingly Democratic district in the Bay Area does not speak well for the Democrats," California GOP Chairman Ron Nehring said the morning after Tuesday's election. Yes, this is largely spin. Harmer outperformed...

Since this goes to the Congress member's of the sender, it is especially effective for those that live in...

Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats in the House are about to pass possibly the worst piece of legislation ever to come out of Washington and force it on the general public of America. The 2009 House version of Health Care Reform for the country. Take note of the word reform, because it actually means takeover, as in government takeover of the health care industry. This is the bill from Hell! Almost 2000 pages of legislative language that glosses over, covers up, and side steps every major issue and concern that has been brought out in the debate....

Until now, the healthcare debate has included very little in the way of specifics. The President, Speaker Pelosi, and Senator Reid all preferred to speak of healthcare in a broad sense. Even the Senate bill was not a true bill, but rather an outline of what should be in a bill. With the House releasing its 1990 page juggernaut document on health reform, we can finally look at some specifics; and with specifics we can judge the veracity of the preceding debate. Throughout the last three months, Barack Obama has repeatedly shown up on our TV screens and told the...

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- Like the song goes, "something going on over there". What's happening in the New York 23rd Congressional District may have national significance. It's looking like a political earthquake in progress, and it has a San Francisco flavor to it....In San Francisco style, a Republican abandoned her own party's candidate and chose a liberal Democrat, saying it was the best choice for her district. (Recall the hundreds of San Francisco republicans who were strong early financial supporters of Democrat Mayor Gavin Newsom and his defunct run for California governor over the Republican candidate.) Didn't make much difference....
