Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Marcia Fudge says she will "break down the barriers that keep minorities from living in elite neighborhoods by using the power of eminent domain granted to the government by the Fifth Amendment to the US Constitution." "Since the integration of American society is an important public good, the government has the authority to seize private property for the purpose of achieving a better mix of colors and ethnicity in the nation's neighborhoods," Fudge contended. "All we have to do is pay just compensation for the property we take. No one has the right...

A demographic analysis of persons emigrating from New York City found that 16% of of richest taxpayers are leaving each year. The impact on the City's ability to fund government services is becoming severe. Mayor Eric Adams hasn't been idle, but his request for more federal aid doesn't seem likely to be fulfilled. "My recent phone conversation with President Biden was not encouraging," the Mayor lamented. "When I pointed out that we need a replacement for the lost tax revenues he suggested that we confiscate the property of everyone who moves out of the city. He said 'if that doesn't...

As Americans know, the surest way to create a tyrannical government is to ensure the general public has no means to resist authoritarian measures. The French used to understand this as well, considering that one of the country’s foremost scholars, Alexis de Tocqueville — author of “Democracy In America,” circa the late 1700s — was a seminal work in describing the benefits and advantages of a free, open society. That included a favorable analysis of the U.S. Constitution, a truly unique document written by our founders and ratified by the new states that empowered people over their government and guaranteed...

The CEO of an online ammo retailer said last week that thousands of rounds of ammunition have “gone missing” during transit, particularly when shipped through UPS. It is unclear where the remaining 12,000 rounds are. During an appearance on The Glenn Beck Program, Collins said UPS blames The Gun Food’s packaging for the missing ammo, despite the company having “met and exceeded” packaging expectations.

Sunday on MSNBC’s “The Mehdi Hasan Show,” Rep. Mondaire Jones (D-NY) addressed the Democrats’ chances in the upcoming midterm elections. Jones said the Democrats still had a chance of “keeping the majority in the House” but acknowledged his party had to “course correct.” “I think that we’ve still got a good chance of keeping the majority in the House, but we’ve got to course correct,” Jones emphasized. “We’ve got to make sure that we are having up or down votes on any number of broadly popular pieces of legislation, and that starts with the legislation passed out of the House...

During a campaign event on May 21, Texas Democrat gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke expressed his belief that Americans who own AR-15s should not be able to keep them. On May 31, FOX News highlighted the comments as part O’Rourke’s ongoing effort against the guns. In the comments, O’Rourke stressed his position that no one should be able “to purchase an AR-15 or AK-47,” and added, “I don’t think that the people who have them right now in civilian use should be able to keep them.”

When Deborah Foss, a 66-year-old grandmother in New Bedford, Mass., bought her home in 2015, she expected it would be where she would live the rest of her life in comfort and security. But by February of this year, she had been forced from her home and is now reduced to living in her car. What went wrong? With chronic health problems and living on a fixed income, Foss fell behind on her property taxes when she hit a rough financial patch. That’s when the city sold a $9,626 tax lien on her home to a private investment company. Under...

The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board estimates that just 3% of Washington’s cannabis shops are majority Black owned, while Seattle doesn’t have any that fit that description. While former Sonics star Shawn Kemp is the namesake of a recently-opened shop in Seattle, he only owns a 5% stake in the business. Mosqueda further pointed out that communities of color were disproportionately targeted for marijuana-related arrests prior to legalization, despite roughly equal levels of use among all racial demographics. After marijuana was legalized, “Black people were largely left out of ownership opportunities,” she noted. In San Francisco, newly-registered cannabis firms...

Most of the action we’ve been seeing in Canada as part of Justin Trudeau’s almost unbelievable “Emergencies Act” declaration has come from the Prime Minister himself. He’s been ordering financial institutions to freeze people’s assets and block their transactions (or at least trying to) and allowing the arrest and confinement of people who have committed no acts of violence or property damage. But Trudeau isn’t the only one getting in on the emergency power game. As our Redstate colleague Madeline Leesman reported today, the Mayor of Ottawa, Jim Watson, has clearly seen the benefits of exerting some totalitarian power of...

Ottawa's mayor says any vehicles seized during the police crackdown on the occupation of the downtown should be sold to cover costs incurred by the city. "We actually have the ability to confiscate those vehicles and sell them," Mayor Jim Watson said Saturday. "And I want to see them sold. I don't want the return to these people who've been causing such frustration and angst in our community." The mayor told CBC News that Ottawa has that power due to the Emergencies Act, which was invoked by the federal government last week. Watson said he's been pleased by the level...

Saule Omarova, President Biden's nominee to lead the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, is having her fitness for the office questioned by GOP Senators. On the one hand, there was her "we want them to go bankrupt" comment about the the oil and gas industry in the U.S. Or maybe it's her membership in the Facebook group "Marxist Analysis and Policy," which describes itself as "for socialism and against capitalism." Or perhaps it was her arrest for shoplifting in 1995. Presidential Press Secretary Jen Psaki defended Omarova, saying that "the President has full confidence in this nomination. Professor...

Guns, violence and political extremism are on the rise. And America risks disaster — sooner than later. That’s the view of a longtime University of California firearms researcher whose hard-hitting report was published recently in the journal Injury Epidemiology. “Upward trends in firearm purchasing, violence and political extremism are converging to put the USA at risk for disaster in the months ahead,” Garen Wintemute warned in introducing the report. “We have no time to waste if we are to prevent the loss of thousands of lives and emerge with our democracy intact.

Biden's ATF obtained more than 54 million gun owner records in 2021 alone The Biden administration in just the past year alone stockpiled the records of more than 54 million U.S. gun owners and is poised to drastically alter gun regulations to ensure that information on Americans who own firearms ultimately ends up in the federal government's hands, according to internal Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) documents obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. The ATF in fiscal year 2021 processed 54.7 million out-of-business records, according to an internal ATF document obtained by the Gun Owners of America, a firearms advocacy...
