  • M4 does poorly in Army's own test

When the dust finally settled, Army officials sought to put the best face on a sandstorm test that humbled Colt Defense's vaunted M4 carbine. The tests were conducted at an Army laboratory in Maryland last fall. Ten M4s and 10 copies each of three other carbines - the SCAR from Belgium's FN Herstal, and the HK416 and the XM8 from Germany's Heckler & Koch - were coated in heavy layers of talcum-fine dust to simulate a sandstorm. Tens of thousands of rounds were fired through the rifles. The M4s malfunctioned 882 times. Bullets that didn't feed through the rifles properly...
  • Opinion on Colt AR-15 SP1? (shooter's vanity post)

    01/01/2008 8:32:26 PM PST · by Jonah Hex · 41 replies · 7,269+ views
I'm getting a hankering for a retro AR-15 (chrome-lined barrel, A1 stock and sights, slab side, triangular handguards, lightweight barrel, etc.). I found a number of used Colt Sporters chambered in .223 with a 1:12 twist, but I also found a slightly cheaper new retro reproduction non-Colt rifle with a 1:9 chromed barrel in 5.56 but with a round-assist and shell deflector. I suppose the question is, are there any Freepers with experience on the Colt SP1 who are willing to share their opinions on this rifle?
  • Giuliani Seeking Support From NRA (Pigs now fly, Satan buys parka, etc.)

Rudolph W. Giuliani will go before the rank and file of the National Rifle Association on Friday, seeking support for his Republican presidential campaign from a group he once likened to "extremists" for its efforts to repeal the ban on assault weapons. But even as the former New York mayor strives to burnish his Second Amendment credentials at the gathering in Washington, a panel of federal judges in his home town will be hearing arguments on the lawsuit that Giuliani filed seven years ago aimed at punishing the nation's gun manufacturers for violent crimes involving firearms. Announcing the lawsuit in...

Alright, I am going to set myself up here for flaming and such - especially by certain @$$wipes who enjoy making themselves feel superior - by I have a couple questions concerning firearms. Basic question one - what is the difference between a pistol and a revolver? Basic question two - what is the difference between single action and double action? Basic question three - which should a beginner go with - revolver, pistol, SA, or DA?

FREAK ANIMAL: Vets are running tests on a colt with a big head and long legs to confirm a theory that it was the result of a rare cross-species tryst AFP , MONTREAL Wednesday, Jul 26, 2006,Page 1 A rare mating of a wild moose and a mare likely resulted in the birth of a funny-looking colt with a big head and long legs, a rancher in Canada's Quebec province said yesterday. But veterinarians are conducting tests to confirm his claim. Bambi, born 11 weeks ago in the Gaspe Peninsula after a mysterious conception, has the head of a moose...
  • Choice of carry weapon (Vanity post, but soliciting opinions!)

I'm about to buy another handgun, primarily for concealed carry/personal protection. I live in Texas, have a concealed carry license and want a handgun I can keep on me pretty much all of the time, probably around my waist somewhere. There are some serious gun nuts that cruise these threads and I want to draw from your experience to make the best pick. For a little help, I've used the Colt 1911 in .45 and .38 Super and loved the gun. I also really like my Baby Eagle in .45. The primary reason I like these two is the single-action trigger...

Make no bones about it: I am a liberal who believes that guns in themselves are not evil. Are you shocked? You shouldn’t be. Some conservatives like to present the cliché counterargument that “guns don’t kill people; people kill people in debates about gun control. However, the question still remains: Exactly what argument do they think they are countering? It is not the “liberal stance” that guns in themselves have the ability to kill people and are evil. In fact, anyone who believes this nonsense, liberal or conservative, is just plain dumb. In fact, I – and most intelligent people...

I am looking for information on the Colt Pony and Colt Mustang. In looking at this page: http://www.colt.com/CMCI/pistols.asp I see no reference to either gun. Why is it missing, and where can I find side-by side comparisons of the two? Am I correct that they both are .380 ACP? Thanks.

In a sworn statement to be made public Tuesday, University of Colorado President Elizabeth Hoffman said a four-letter word used toward women can sometimes be used as a "term of endearment." The comment comes from Hoffman's latest sworn testimony in connection with a federal lawsuit against the university. The suit was filed by women who say they were sexually assaulted by CU football players and recruits. A lawyer for one of the women asked Hoffman about former CU kicker Katie Hnida being called the "c- word" by a teammate. That player was later disciplined by coach Gary Barnett for making...

TUESDAY JULY 9 2002 An Open Letter to Members of Congress © 2002 WorldNetDaily.com Dear Honorable Congresspersons: One of your vital tasks is to ensure that our warriors who hang it all out on the killing field are equipped with the right stuff. I don't see that happening anytime soon unless you get enough straight skinny to counteract lobbyist propaganda and other military-industrial-congressional-complex spin. So to help provide more fair and balanced input, I plan to occasionally pass along some of the most commonly recurring bitches that come my way weekly in e-mails, letters, phone calls, etc., from our warriors....
