I think this is very true, over the course of a season, you can really only be at your top-level 3 or 4 games in a year. If you go all out for every game, eventually you’ll burn out. That was probably the case with Bama. They had the talent to survive the off weeks, but had everything in the tank for Florida, which obviously they had been pointing to all year.

To some extent, the case was the same for the Gators, Arkansas almost caught us on our off week.

The difference this year, simply came down to playmakers. Florida didn’t have them this season, they have nice players, Hernandez and Cooper are nice receivers, but they are not gamebreakers like Ingram and Jones.

The other difference was McElroy, he played the game of his life.

Bama was a blocked field goal from not playing in the big game...Texas was one second and 2 yards from not going...both had an off day, which sometimes happens.

That is NOT to discount the Nebraska defense which is the real deal. Tennessee likewise has a top twenty rated defense.

Previous football posts this year contained statements that Florida was NOT as good as last year...Harvin and other receivers were sorely missed...too much on Tebow’s shoulders alone.

Bama, as I have stated in many posts, in my view has the best overall talent on one team in the nation this year...BUT, I said again and again that the offensive coordinator is an idiot and could cost them a game sooner or later. He almost did against Tennessee with those STUPID passes to Jones in the corner of the end zone (the home crowd booed)....they called that play 12 times this year and it didn’t work 1 time....he also wasted downs attempting Jones on fly patterns...Jones is NOT a fly pattern receiver.

However, in the last two games, the coordinator made some changes that showed up mostly in the Florida game.....

Florida, Texas, and Alabama have shared the TOP THREE ratings on defense for most of the year...I belive that, even though Florida was not as good this year as last, these are the three best teams in the nation.

I agree that no system is perfect. If we stick with the BCS then I only wish it would be based on records and stats and eliminate the popularity polls from the ratings.

I also saw an interview with a BCS rep and he stated that three certain conferences get preferential treatment simply because they started and control the BCS system. That is why you still have a pathetic 2009 USC team unfairly ranked at the end of regular season despite several losses, but you won’t see the same advantage given to other division teams with fewer losses.

I didn’t mention the Texas schedule because it was already mentioned by the person that I was responding to. I was only comparing his listing of the TX schedule to the schedule of the other top 2 teams. Unfortunately, none of the conferences were dominant this year.

Also, I agree about the TX A&M game, but that doesn’t prove much. Look at my previous posts. All of the top three schools had ups & downs throughout the season:

Florida barely got by unranked Arkansas with a 3-point win, but Arkansas out-played Florida the whole game. Not counting the Arkansas game, Florida won 4 games by 10 points or less. Both the Arkansas and unranked Mississippi State (29-19) games had several incorrect calls that favored Florida and helped Florida win. Without the ref help, Florida would not have been unbeaten. The refs were even suspended for their poor calls.

Alabama barely got past unranked Tennessee 12-10, due to a last minute blocked field goal. However, Tennessee out-played Alabama the whole game. Alabama also barely beat unranked Auburn 26-21 and Ingram was held to under 40 yards rushing. In addition to these two games, Alabama won two games by 10 points or less, including the controversial win by 9 points over LSU.

I personally think Florida has been over-rated all year, much like USC, and the Alabama game proved it.
