Climate Change: A startling claim has been made by the European Space Agency. It says that loss of ice in the West Antarctic has caused a shift in Earth's gravity. So are polar bears about to drown or fly off into space? To the list of things caused by global warming, including rising seas, fiercer and more frequent storms, forest fires and widespread disease, we can now add a weakening of gravity due to melting ice. Based on measurements from a European Space Agency's satellite, researchers have said that so much ice loss has occurred in West Antarctica that there's...

**SNIP** The climate march on Sunday with 400,000 people on the streets of New York along with demonstrations around the country and the world marked a new stage in the political radicalization of big sections of American society, particularly a big section of young people. Despite the lack of a clear program or way forward for the movement being articulated by its organizers, there was an enormous thirst for answers and evidence of a widespread anti-corporate and even anti-capitalist consciousness. This was reflected, for example, in the thousands of homemade signs against corporate domination. In recent months, we’ve seen determined...

Environmental activist Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. opined that those skeptical of the dangers of climate change ought to be silenced. "I'm really tired of arguing with these people," Kennedy complained. "It's a drain on my energy. It takes time away from restructuring society along more socially beneficial lines." Kennedy suggested that "climate skeptics should be put on trial at the Hague as 'war criminals.' Whether people realize it or not, we are at war for the planet's future. On one side are those who want to save the planet. On the other are people who want to stop us from...

A goofy guy named Adam Weinstein writing for a goofy website called Gawker has called for the jailing of those who deny global warming. Weinstein says, “there is the body of purulent pundits, paid sponsors, and corporate grifters who exploit the smallest uncertainty at the edges of a settled science.” Those who disagree with Weinstein on a scientific and political point are criminally negligent and should face not just fines but even prison. As goofy as he is, he’s not the only one.Just this past weekend serial adulterer Robert Kennedy Jr., who may have driven his second wife to suicide—and...

An Associated Press fact-check on President Obama’s climate change speech to the United Nations Tuesday accused the president of clearly spinning the facts and distorting the truth about America’s response to global warming. The AP fact-checker faulted Obama “gloss[ing] over some inconvenient truths” in his global warming lecture Tuesday, particularly in regard to his claims about America’s attempts to clean up emissions at home and his insistence that emissions reductions do not have an impact on the economy. The fact-check says that not only did Obama distort the numbers to claim that in the last eight years the U.S. reduced...

Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt used an appearance on NPR on Monday to announce his company was cutting ties with the American Legislative Exchange Council, a conservative organization composed of private companies and state legislators, over the group’s position on “climate change.” “Everyone understands climate change is occurring, and the people who oppose it are really hurting our children and our grandchildren and making the world a much worse place," Schmidt told NPR’s Diane Rehm. "And so we should not be aligned with such people – they're just, they're just literally lying.” As Schmidt might find out to his misfortune,...

Junk Science: Those trying to save the planet leave trash-filled streets in advance of a U.N. climate confab that's a solution in search of a problem. Even a former administration official thinks the Earth is fine. Colorfully costumed zealots marched in New York and other cities Sunday in advance of Tuesday's U.N. Climate Summit. Once again they claimed, "The science is settled," and blamed capitalism for non-existent weather change. They barely noticed, as British climate-change skeptic Lord Christopher Monckton points out at Marc Morano's Climate Depot, the "Great Pause" in global temperatures now stands at 17 years and 11 months.

Naturally occurring changes in winds, not human-caused climate change, are responsible for most of the warming on land and in the sea along the West Coast of North America over the last century, a study has found. The analysis challenges assumptions that the buildup of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has been a significant driver of the increase in temperatures observed over many decades in the ocean and along the coastline from Alaska to California. Changes in ocean circulation as a result of weaker winds were the main cause of about 1 degree Fahrenheit of warming in the northeast Pacific...

RUSH: There was a giant climate march in New York (well, it was all over the country) over the weekend, and it was clear that anti-capitalism was really the objective here. That's all the military environmental movement is, is a home for displaced communists, once the Berlin Wall fell. It would have been anyway. It's made to order for deception. It's made to order for campaigns of deceit. Environmentalism allows practitioners to claim to have the best interests of everybody at heart. They want to save something -- in this case the planet -- and they want everybody to be...

Dozens of former world leaders are expected to converge on Minneapolis in October 2015 for an international summit on climate change and democracy, organizers announced Monday. The conference, called “Minnesota 2015: Democracy for a Sustainable Future,” is designed to draw people from around the globe to explore ways that democratic nations can reduce greenhouse emissions. “It takes it beyond ‘here’s the challenge, here’s the problem,’ ” said Orlyn Kringstad, executive director of the U.S. branch of Partnership for Change, one of the cosponsors. “It’s [about] what needs to be done and how governments around the world can support those efforts.” The...

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., says he wants a law to punish politicians who dissent from man-made climate change theory - and calls them "contemptible human beings." Kennedy made the remarks in an interview with Climate Depot at a climate march in New York on Sunday: Kennedy Jr. accused skeptical politicians of "selling out the public trust." "Those guys are doing the Koch Brothers bidding and are against all the evidence of the rational mind, saying global warming does not exit. They are contemptible human beings. I wish there were a law you could punish them with. I don't think there...

Hundreds of protesters plan to risk arrest on Monday during an unsanctioned blockade in New York City's financial district to call attention to what organizers say is Wall Street's contribution to climate change. The Flood Wall Street demonstration comes on the heels of Sunday's international day of action that brought some 310,000 people to the streets of New York City in the largest single protest ever held on over climate change

On Sunday, tens of thousands of committed leftists held “climate change†world rallies. Thousands descended on New York City, marching through the heart of Manhattan with a message of alarm for world leaders. The far left activists are worried about the effects of global warming despite the fact that the US just went through its coldest winter in a century and Antarctic sea ice is at record levels. The alarmists are worried about global warming. But, they let others worry about their trash. From the climate rally in London Sunday. This doesn’t seem eco friendly, does it?More trash in New York City....

Barack Obama applied the brakes to the most critical component of his climate change plan on Tuesday, slowing the process of setting new rules cutting carbon pollution from power plants, and casting a shadow over a landmark United Nations’ summit on global warming. In a conference call with reporters, the Environmental Protection Agency said it was extending the public comment period on the power plant rules for an additional 45 days, until 1 December. The delay follows heavy lobby by Republicans and industry lobby groups to delay the rule – or withdraw it outright.—Suzanne Goldenberg, The Guardian, 16 September 2014
