DEBATE MODERATOR ELAINE QUIJANO IS ADVOCATE FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS This election's presidential debates have their Candy Crowley. In the form of CBS' Elaine Quijano. Elaine Quijano was a very odd choice by CBS to moderate presidential debates. While other networks put forward major personalities with some level of respect, CBS put forward Elaine Quijano, who is on CBSN, is relatively young and known to fairly few people until today. Why did CBS decide to shake things up with Elaine Quijano? A look at her reporting makes that apparent. She's done a lot of pieces advocating for illegal aliens.

[Huge SNIP] Thus, by 2003, President George W. Bush had correctly calculated that Saddam's WMD arsenal, after at least five years of no inspections, was an intolerable, unacceptable risk in the wake of 9/11. This was a fully legitimate fear, with Bush's suspicion of Saddam's stockpiles first informed not by his advisers but, instead, by the media that informed all of us in the 1990s, years before Bush became president. In short, all of that very recent history was forgotten by an emotional, angry, childish political left after our troops didn't find the WMD stockpiles we all expected. Of course,...

The first broadcast network presidential debate this year, which ended its national telecast and switched to a choppy livestream feed two-thirds of the way through the event, produced a storm of complaints from viewers across the country and two of the candidates on the no-frills debate stage in Spartanburg, S.C. CBS’s foreign policy debate, co-sponsored by National Journal, offered unusually detailed discussion of policy and a format that was free of many of the literal bells and whistles of more slickly-produced face-offs. But the confusing format — the televised portion for most of the nation ended after an hour and...

...Yes, this is really happening. 8 p.m. ET on CBS. As a concession to how low public interest is likely to be, especially head to head with Oregon/Stanford, CBS won’t carry the whole debate. It’ll run for 90 minutes but they’re cutting out at 9 p.m. for … a re-run of “NCIS.” If you want to watch the last half hour, switch over to CBSNews.com or National Journal. Perfectly fitting treatment for a key policy subject that’s been mostly an afterthought this year.
