A claim for intrusion of privacy by Hollywood super-couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones went to Britain's House of Lords, in a case which could set a landmark precedent. Just a few days after their sixth wedding anniversary, lawyers for the star pair joined forces with celebrity weekly OK! -- which bought the rights to cover their nuptials -- against rival star magazine Hello!. Hello! secretly took pictures of their New York wedding in November 2000, despite the deal under which OK! had paid one million dollars for exclusive pictures of the Plaza Hotel ceremony. Media lawyers say that if...

I am curious why none of the media covers the most important aspect of the Malvo shootings. If you look at Newspapers on the dates when the shootings are underway you discover something I find quite interesting. The shootings begin to dominate the news the day before the debate on the Iraq war starts and they catch them the day after the declaration of war??? If you ask most people "do you remember the debate about starting the second Iraq war", they will all answer "yes of course". But if you followup with the question "name one point in the...

I recently received a reply to a post that stated: "This should be beneath a "freeper". Sad." So I asked.. what is it that makes a FReeper? My reply (and I will admit was tasteless) was also questioning. It stirred controversy and was removed? Why Moderators? Can you not tell me? Did it not meet with your "FReeper" mentality? According to all posted guidelines it should be listed but no, you chose to delete it. Yes.. I'm the first one IBTZ, I'm sure you'll nick me for speaking up..

New York -- Watch out Brad, Michael Douglas is taking some shots regarding your divorce from Jen. At you and girlfriend Angelina Jolie. "I don't know about Brad Pitt, leaving that beautiful wife to go hold orphans for Angelina," Douglas snipes in GQ's April issue, hitting newsstands March 21. "I mean, how long is that going to last?" Pitt and ex-wife Jennifer Aniston divorced in October 2005. Since then, Pitt has adopted Jolie's children, Maddox and Zahara, and is expecting a child with the bombshell actress this summer. Calls by The Associated Press to Pitt's representative, Cindy Guagenti, and Jolie's...

Responding to Republican claims that she may be too angry to win national office, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton told an audience Monday to wear such criticism as "a badge of honor" and suggested that gender played a role in the attacks. "When you run as a Democrat, and in particular, when you run as a Democratic woman, whether you're running at the local, state or national level, it's likely you're going to draw some unfriendly fire," Clinton said at a breakfast fund-raiser hosted by black and Hispanic women supporters. "People will be attacking you instead of your ideas; they may...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Travis in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I'm glad you called, sir. Welcome. CALLER: Mega dittos, Rush. RUSH: Thank you, sir. CALLER: How are you? RUSH: Couldn't be better. CALLER: Great. RUSH: Actually, that's not true. If you want to know the truth I'm in a foul humor today. It's only my professionalism that makes you think I'm enjoying things today. CALLER: Well, maybe we can add a little more satire to your show now. RUSH: (Laughing.) Perhaps. CALLER: What I was calling for is I watched the David Gregory apology. RUSH: Yeah, that was on Meet the Depressed...

DEAR ABBY: Several of my friends and I were bemoaning our status as single women in our late 20s/early 30s, and discussing an article we had read in The New York Times about how smart women are less likely to get married. We'd all like to find Mr. Wonderful and be married. But if we have to curtail our professional success, financial wherewithal and IQ to do it, how can a person even begin to do such a thing? I have a feeling you'll say to be ourselves and it will all work out, but thus far it has NOT...

LOS ANGELES - No mother-in-law sleepovers. Only one football game per Sunday. Mandatory sexual positions. With celebrity marriages often shorter than Jessica Simpson's Daisy Dukes, the power of the prenuptial agreement cannot be denied. Simpson and soon-to-be-ex-husband Nick Lachey didn't have a "prenup" — he had more earning power than she did when they got married three years ago — so Simpson could have to part with half of the $30 million she earned last year. Other recent breakups include Valerie Bertinelli from Eddie Van Halen, and Christina Applegate from Jonathon Schaech. Prenups are the norm for most stars —...

When I entered college in 1969, women were bursting out of theirs 50's chrysalis, shedding girdles, padded bras and conventions. The Jazz Age spirit flared in the Age of Aquarius. Women were once again imitating men and acting all independent: smoking, drinking, wanting to earn money and thinking they had the right to be sexual, this time protected by the pill. I didn't fit in with the brazen new world of hard-charging feminists. I was more of a fun-loving (if chaste) type who would decades later come to life in Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw. I hated the grubby, unisex...

It took a while, but the president finally figured out a response to the destruction of New Orleans. Later this week (no point rushing things) W. is dispatching Dick Cheney to the rancid lake that was a romantic city. The vice president has at long last lumbered back from a Wyoming vacation, and, reportedly, from shopping for a $2.9 million waterfront estate in St. Michael's, a retreat in the Chesapeake Bay where Rummy has a weekend home, where "Wedding Crashers" was filmed and where rich lobbyists hunt. Maybe Mr. Cheney is going down to New Orleans to hunt looters. Or...

LOS ANGELES - A woman who pleaded no contest to stalking and threatening actress Catherine Zeta-Jones will be sentenced next month. A judge on Friday ordered Dawnette Knight, 33, to appear for sentencing on July 8. She faces up to five years in prison. Knight pleaded in February to one felony count of stalking and three felony counts of making criminal threats. She was accused of sending threatening and violent letters to acquaintances of the actress, including her agent and her husband, actor Michael Douglas. Knight, who was arrested June 3 at her Beverly Hills home, allegedly apologized in another...

Many argue that communism will never be possible because of "human nature". The essence of this false argument is the belief that a communist society would consist of an all-powerful central government that would tell everybody what to do--and would therefore undermine the creative initiative of individuals and the search for happiness. • This argument is based on two false assumptions: (1) It assumes that a communist society will look like the former Soviet Union, or the current China, North Korea, etc (ie: corrupt police states with a feudal-style ruling class) (2) It assumes that people will only work in...

For many men fatherhood is not quite the same unless they have shared the experience as far as possible. A survey has found that a third of modern fathers admit to tasting their wife’s or girlfriend’s breast milk. The researchers discovered that it is fairly common for fathers to drink breast milk several times, especially with subsequent children — even though they did not particularly like the taste. The fathers surveyed said the milk-tasting was part of an emotional urge to immerse themselves in the process of infant rearing — far removed from the “bitty, bitty” sketch in the BBC’s...

Why Men Prefer Pretty Faces So you think beauty is in the eye of the beholder? Think again. According to new research from the University of Exeter in Great Britain, the preference for pretty faces over ugly ones is embedded in our brains from the moment of birth and possibly prior to birth. Newborn babies come fully equipped with built-in preferences, including a preference for an attractive face, that help them make sense of their new environment, report the BBC News Online and Newsweek magazine. The Exeter researchers showed more than 100 infants two images that were placed side by...

In the movie The Terminal Tom Hanks plays an international traveler Viktor Navorski that gets stranded in John F. Travel documents we no longer valid, so Viktor could not get to his dream destination of New York City. So, Viktor is stuck in the Terminal. Viktor has experiences with a ladder-climbing bureaucrat that help to paint a clearer picture of who Viktor is and help to move the movie along. Of course along the way, Viktor...

Hoooo-rah! Rummy finally got called on the carpet. Not by the president, of course, but by troops fighting in Iraq. Some of them are finally fed up enough to rumble about his back-door draft and failure to provide them with the proper armor for their Humvees, leaving them scrambling to improvise with what they call "hillbilly armor." The defense secretary had been expected to go to Iraq on this trip but spent the day greeting troops in Kuwait instead. Even though Pentagon officials insist that security wasn't an issue, I bet they had to be worried not to travel the...

If I hear "Frosty the Snowman" one more time, I'll rip his frozen face off. It's a scientific fact, or should be, that Christmas music can turn you into a fruitcake. It either sends you into a Pavlovian shopping trance, buying stupid things like the Robosapien, or, if you hear repeated Clockwork-Orange choruses of "Ring, Christmas Bells" drilling into your brain with that slasher-movie staccato, makes you feel as possessed with Christmas spirit as Norman Bates. I've never said this out loud before, but I can't stand Christmas. Everyone in my family loves it except me, and they can't fathom...
