New York state is banning the sale of new gasoline-powered vehicles by 2035, in a move officials say is aimed at cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions and getting more electric vehicles on the road. Gov. Kathy Hochul, a Democrat, said Thursday that she was directing the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation to implement the regulations. Those regulations will be filed by the end of the year, a spokeswoman for the governor said.
