Gov. Glenn Youngkin vows to stop 'ridiculous' state ban on gas vehicles

Republican Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin is working to dismantle Virginia's push toward electric vehicles, calling the move "ridiculous" in a Sunday statement. Virginia's former governor, Democrat Ralph Northam, signed legislation in 2021 tying the state's emissions policies to the California Air Resources Board. The board has imposed a regimen to eliminate the sale of gas and diesel vehicles by 2035, forcing Virginia to do the same thanks to the 2021 law.

"In an effort to turn Virginia into California, liberal politicians who previously ran our government sold Virginia out by subjecting Virginia drivers to California vehicle laws," Youngkin wrote in a statement on Twitter. "Now, under that pact, Virginians will be forced to adopt the California law that prohibits the sale of gas and diesel-fueled vehicles."

All “government bans” should be banned.

Do any Dumb-O-Crat governors have any ORIGINAL ideas on how to help the environment, or do they all just follow along with Kalifornia in the hopes that the entire country will eventually be forced to adopt the standards of Kalifornia, with its urban s-holes, rampant crime and unreliable EVs?

You have got to LOVE any Governor who calls a communist wet dream “Ridiculous”! That’s telling it like it is. So few speak plainly like that.

No need. No-one will be selling gas or diesel by 2035, anyway. Not in Virginia, at least. Maybe Minnesota or Idaho.

I keep showing this to liberals on Twitter and I get no sane response. If the earths temperature is rising, why were most record high temperatures in US states set 90 years ago? We even got one set 127 years ago in Utah!! Well how is that possible? I would think 127 years ago the earths temperature must have been near freezing using the same logic the left always pushes.

Does the environment really need to be "helped"? Is government of any sort competent to do such helping (assuming it's actually needed)?

Democrat Ralph Northam, signed legislation in 2021 tying the state's emissions policies to the California Air Resources Board.

Wow...that is extraordinary. The legislature and the governor enacted a law to make their own state be regulated by another state's regulatory agency.

Unreal.

California is going to commit “suicide by EV”, and they want to take all of us with them. Like the heathen kings of old, who had their wives and children killed and buried (or burned) with them when they died.

Young king was in thick with Carlyle which is inside the Bush camp.

This is a safe calculated issue for him.

The facts against banning gas engine cars are they tons more efficient than electric cars.

Here’s why:

Electric cars are charged by local power plants that burn gas, coal; are carbon heavy.

Plus ..... the local power plants distribute power through the grid, that lose 70% to heat. This is known as 70% line loss.

Think of your stove top grid elements that lose heat to the kitchen air. Your stove top is twice more efficient than your local power plant.

Plus ..... the power grid can’t handle bringing on millions of energy wasting EVs.

To get around this local power plant increased pollution and gris loss, nuclear power plants will need to be built. That takes 10 to 15 years to completion, very, very expensive, and require safety systems and constant safety training, plus disposal of radioactive waste that will be around for thousands upon thousands of years.

The smart play is gas-NG-solar-EV tribrids.

If that happens it will be because the climate nazis have collapsed our economy altogether. Then only the Amish will be able to move about at will.

I love this guy. He recently announced that VA’s budget surplus (400 mil?) would be given back to the citizen’s. “It’s not the government’s money. It belongs to the citizens of Virginia.”

Does this ban on gasoline powered vehicles include antique ones? If it does, the collectors will be seriously ticked off.

Unfortunately this is correct. There won’t be much left to buy anyway as so many of the major manufacturers have already caved in

What is the legislation # for the removal of this dictate that Youngkin has proposed?

Certainly, something of this importance must have been in the works since he was elected...
