After months of supposed hiding, the Capitol Hill cop who shot unarmed pro-Trump protestor Ashli Babbitt at the Capitol, Lt. Michael Byrd has come out of the woodwork to talk about his shooting, in a softball interview with NBC's Lester Holt. Which is weird stuff, given that for months his identity had been concealed, by investigators, Congress, and other supposed watchdogs, on the grounds that revealing it to angry Trump supporters was too dangerous, and whose investigative conclusions excused him from accountability. Now he's come out -- telling Lester Holt of his great heroics. He doesn't even need to, having...

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Well, this really backfired: according to sources, the new and totally constitutional eviction moratorium handed down by President Joe Biden means that Capitol rioters are able to camp out in Nancy Pelosi's office indefinitely. Not good! Pelosi asked them to leave, but she was powerless to do so, as the eviction moratorium had taken effect. Sad! "Shoo, peasant! Shoo!" she said, waving her arms and trying to get the man sitting at her desk to leave. "It's 3 p.m. -- ice cream-eating time for Auntie Pelosi!" Womp womp! At publishing time, Pelosi had asked for the attorney general to...

[H/T Combat Boots]Dozens of Americans held in a Washington D.C. jail have been incarcerated for months awaiting trials that aren’t scheduled to begin until next year. Joe Biden’s Justice Department has repeatedly sought pre-trial detention for Americans who, on January 6, protested Biden’s election.SNIPThe defendants have been transported to a special portion of the D.C. prison system used to house those charged with offenses related to January 6. Most were held in solitary confinement conditions, only allowed one hour out of a single-man cell one hour a day, for months until restrictions were recently loosened somewhat. SNIPEvery night at 9...

The Epoch Times is no stranger to censorship from China, but the publication has recently been forced to grapple with censorship here in the United States. Founded in 2000 by Chinese immigrants to the United States who hoped to expose the truth of their birth country’s repressions, the paper quickly grew in popularity. The publication’s website now receives nine million unique visitors and 30 million page-views per month. The Epoch Times has been a consistent voice for freedom, and has helped inform the world of the human rights atrocities in China. The newspaper has seen firsthand the consequences of pursuing...

When I was first elected to Congress in 1994 to represent the great people of Tennessee’s 3rd district, our U.S. Capitol building pierced the skyline of our nation’s capital as a shining beacon of democracy that so many brave men and women from different walks of life, parts of the country, and political beliefs have fought to protect. These days, my heart is heavy seeing this symbol of freedom transformed into a militarized fortress. You see, I vividly remember how easy it was for the public to access the Capitol during those early years when I was still learning my...

Today If Democratic lawmakers support defunding the police, perhaps they can start by defunding the police state established around the People’s House. In the nation’s capital, people walking through Capitol Hill on a warm pre-spring day Wednesday could find multiple signs like this: The signs show sentiment among Washingtonians against the creeping police state that sprung up in the wake of the January 6 riot at the Capitol—a police state that security authorities want to make permanent.Thankfully, Congress has just such an opportunity to weigh in on the matter this week. The “vote-a-rama” process on Congress’ latest $1.9 trillion “stimulus” bill...

The coordinated Big Tech deplatforming of Parler is looking more and more suspect. Last month, I reviewed every arrest report the DOJ had made available at that time, and the overwhelming number of social media posts cited in these reports were those posted on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. There was barely any mention of Parler.Georgetown University’s Program on Extremism collated not just those arrest reports made available via the DOJ press releases but the more than 200 arrest reports otherwise available.According to this assessment of DOJ arrest reports related to the events at the Capitol on January 6th, Facebook is...

If the Capitol Hill "Insurrection" was truly an attempted coup, as the Democrats insist it was, then there should have been a significant and authoritative response that caused it to fail. There ought to have been a military response, or a major political leader ought to have come forward to condemn the coup and rally the country to his side. In fact, President Trump did tell the rioters to behave peacefully, and could be given credit for his steady and pacific leadership during a moment of crisis—though the opposite narrative has been promulgated. But there was otherwise no real response...

CNN has some explaining to do. On Thursday night, damning new footage showed CNN’s Jade Sacker inside of the Capitol with John Sullivan, the BLM member who was charged by federal prosecutors for inciting chaos on January 6th. Sacker co-conspired with the liberal activist in order to cause chaos and make Trump supporters look bad. The shocking video shows her and Sullivan celebrating and shouting “We did it!” when they got the footage they were looking for. When she asked Sullivan if he was filming, he said was going to delete it. He never did.

In my last column, I described how I have come to better understand the moral problem of the "'good German,' the term used to describe the average, presumably decent German, who did nothing to hurt Jews but also did nothing to help them and did nothing to undermine the Nazi regime." Watching America accept the rationally and morally indefensible physical and economic lockdown of the country, I concluded: "Apathy in the face of tyranny turns out not to be a German or Russian characteristic. I just never thought it could happen in America." In one week, it has gotten worse....

Warning: Story contains graphic content.WASHINGTON, D.C. — The pro-Trump rally near the White House on Wednesday turned into a riot on the steps and inside the halls of the Capitol building. I made my way over to the Capitol building, the site of many protests, in the afternoon after I was told large numbers of people were starting to go there since members of Congress were getting ready to certify President-elect Joe Biden as the winner of the November election. Wanting to save time, and my legs, I took the Metro to the Capitol South station. I walked towards the...

A little over a decade ago, I was tear-gassed for the first time. It was the first day of September in the Twin Cities, and the anti-globalist, anti-war protesters were milling about with giant papier-mache heads of the people they hated. Mark Hemingway was there. My future wife and mother of my child was inside. It was painful. Afterward, I left and set up my laptop at a nearby rooftop bar and had the best Guinness I’ve ever ordered in my life. The reports about the protesters were overwhelmingly sympathetic. These were justified because of the wars. The New York...

On today's Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough went on an impassioned speech about yesterday's events. In the course of his broadside, Scarborough said, "He should be arrested today. He should be sent to jail today for insurrection against the United States of America." Here are the highlights: Called for President Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and Donald Trump, Jr. to be arrested, jailed, and charged with insurrection. Demanded an investigation of the Capitol Hill police, suggesting some were members of a Trump "cult" who abetted the invasion of the Capitol. At one point, Scarborough accused police of opening the "f'ing doors" for the...

The Department of Justice is looking into whether federal charges can be brought against Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan over her failure to crack down on a so-called “autonomous zone” controlled for weeks by rioters. Attorney General William Barr has tasked the DOJ’s civil rights division with investigating whether charges can be brought against Durkan, The New York Times reported on Wednesday evening citing two people familiar with the discussions. Barr has also asked federal prosecutors to consider charging rioters with sedition and insurrection against the United States government, according to The Wall Street Journal. Rioters took over several city blocks...

Washington -- Dare we call it the Trump Revolution? We call the presidency of Ronald Reagan the Reagan Revolution. Well, consider what President Donald Trump has achieved in but three years. He has revived the economy with ample growth, historically low levels of unemployment and efficiencies in the economy thanks to the removal of unnecessary stultifying regulations. He promises more if reelected. He has assured international peace and stability. Becoming a prominent terrorist is no longer a smart career choice. Longevity can be problematic. And the president has assured a judicial system stocked with men and women who really believe...

A former IT aide to New Hampshire Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan mounted an “extraordinarily extensive data-theft scheme” against the office, the culprit’s plea agreement states. The plot included the installation of tiny “keylogging” devices that picked up every keystroke. Between July and October 2018, former IT aide Jackson Cosko worked with an unnamed accomplice, a then-current Hassan employee, who repeatedly lent him a key that he used to enter the office at night and who allegedly tried to destroy evidence for him. Cosko accepted responsibility for the events revealed by federal prosecutors in court Friday. A statement of facts that...
