VATICAN CITY (RNS) Catholic activist Sister Simone Campbell has suggested that senior clergy at the Vatican are more preoccupied with power than confronting issues that affect the faithful, like clerical sexual abuse. The U.S. nun, leader of the “Nuns on the Bus” campaign that has toured America during recent election cycles, spoke frankly in an interview ahead of a conference being held at the Vatican on Wednesday (March 8) to celebrate women’s contributions to peace. “The institution and the structure is frightened of change,” Campbell told Religion News Service. “These men worry more about the form and the institution than...

Great news out of Louisiana tonight. With 80% of the vote in, John Kennedy (R) is blowing out Foster Campbell (D) by a 64-36% margin. Some insurance for the Republican majority and this virtually guarantees that President Elect Trump gets the Cabinet he wants.

Getting lucrative government contracts is easy – if you know the right people.  And in the case of former ambassador Joe Wilson, husband of former CIA officer Valerie Plame, it was Hillary Clinton who greased the skids so that government contracts could go to business associates and friends. Is this really in the job description of the secretary of state? Daily Caller: Wilson’s requests for help — on behalf of an American engineering contractor he consulted for called Symbion Power — is a recurring theme in each monthly Clinton email dump. The latest two batches of records are no different....

Fall of strategic province could be 'death blow' to Afghan government WASHINGTON – A U.S. general has quietly returned to Washington to brief the White House about a Taliban surge threatening the survival of the U.S.-backed government in Afghanistan as a result of the withdrawal of U.S. troops, especially from strategic Helmand province, a U.S. military intelligence source in Afghanistan told Joseph Farah’s G2Bulletin. Army Gen. John F. Campbell rushed back to Washington this week without publicity to warn the White House that the Taliban is on the verge of taking over the entire Helmand province, the source said. “I...
  • DEF LEPPARD's VIVIAN CAMPBELL Doesn't Want To Be Associated With 'Clown' DONALD TRUMP

DEF LEPPARD guitarist Vivian Campbell says that he hopes that reports of his band being introduced by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump at next month’s Iowa State Fair are untrue, because doesn’t want his name associated with “this clown.” CNN reported last Friday (July 17) that Trump will handle the introductory duties forDEF LEPPARD at August 15 concert at the State Fair Grandstand on the fairgrounds in Des Moines. But, according to Campbell, he has no knowledge of Trump making an appearance at DEF LEPPARD’s gig, which is also set to feature STYX and TESLA. “I really, really, really hope...

With his “aw shucks, ma’am” charm and velvety voice, Glen Campbell was a legendary country and pop-music singer, guitarist and Hollywood hot guy. But now, friends and relatives tell me, he languishes in a “mediocre” facility outside Nashville, Tenn., for patients afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease. He can spend only minimal time with his oldest children, say sources, who claim he is frequently alone except for the company of caregivers and TV crews recording his mental decline. He wants to go home, they say, and doesn’t understand that the facility is his residence, probably for the rest of his life.

No good deed goes unpunished; this must be what US Ambassador to China Gary Locke must have been thinking as a firestorm of criticism erupted over his embassy’s handling of the Chen Guangcheng case. Under great pressure, with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner arriving for high profile talks with China’s leadership, the embassy and colleagues in the State Department including Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian Affairs Kurt Campbell had negotiated a delicate deal with Chinese counterparts that Chen accepted. Negotiated with the involvement of top legal scholar Jerome Cohen, and based on a...

The town will pay Tim Kelemen, 37, for 335 accrued hours under an agreement negotiated by the chief’s lawyer and the town’s attorney and approved unanimously Thursday by the Campbell Town Board. “It’s not a good day for the town. It’s not a good day for Tim Kelemen,” town attorney Brent Smith said. “It’s not the way you want to end an employment relationship.” An attorney who...

The town of Campbell, Wis., is facing a federal lawsuit challenging ordinance 9.12, which bans the display of banners or flags on or near the town’s pedestrian overpass. Demonstrators began using the overpass in August 2013 to call for President Obama’s impeachment and to display patriotism. After a gathering in October angered local citizens and garnered media attention, the Town of Campbell passed the ordinance, which prohibits the display of signs, flags or banners within 100 feet of the overpass. On Oct. 24, Gregory Luce and a few supporters, wearing T-shirts that collectively spelled out “IMPEACH OBAMA,” were ordered by...

The Sierra Leone-based Campbell had been under surveillance since May 2012, when he responded to an ad on the site Alibaba.com by someone looking to buy uranium 308, or yellow cake. The buyer...

The indictment handed down Wednesday alleges James Robert Jones, 42, of Woodlawn, Tenn., used his position as an assistant inspector general at the Army post on the Kentucky-Tennessee line to obtain personal information on active-duty Army officers, some of whom were deployed to Afghanistan.
