Did the State Department ban Marines from carrying ammo at the U.S. embassy in Cairo? That's what some are reporting, as well as claiming our Ambassador to Egypt, Anne Patterson, had forbidden it. The September 11 murder of U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens, a mob's sacking of the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, and the attack on the U.S. embassy in Cairo demonstrate the war against terrorism is far from over. Disturbingly, 11 years after al Qaida's devastating attack on New York and Washington, neither the White House nor the State Department appears to recognize what the fight is about. As protests erupted outside the U.S. embassy in Cairo, embassy public affairs officer Larry Schwartz tweeted — and then re-tweeted — a condemnation of the controversial film which initial reports suggested motivated the rioters. "We...

A timeline of yesterday's events shows that it took the Obama administration 16 hours to disavow a statement posted on the US Embassy in Cairo website. It appears that the administration's failure to correct the embassy and the doubling down by embassy staff 13 hours after the statement was published prompted Mitt Romney's curt comments about the administration's response. Here is a partial timeline of events. All times are Eastern Standard Time (EST), 6 hours earlier than Cairo time. 5:50AM - Cairo Embassy publishes a statement on its website which rejects those who "abuse" free speech. This is a reference...

Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Egypt's ruling Muslim Brotherhood Wednesday angrily denounced a U.S.-produced film harshly critical of the Prophet Muhammad, raising fears that a new wave of violent protests will follow Tuesday's attacks on U.S. diplomatic installations in Cairo and Benghazi, Libya. Shortly after news emerged that the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other American diplomats were killed in Benghazi, the Afghan presidential palace released a statement condemning the "desecrating act" by the makers of the film, saying that its release "stoked interfaith enmity and confrontation, and badly impacted the peaceful coexistence between human beings."

Egyptian security forces have used tear gas on a raging crowd of demonstrators near the US Embassy in Cairo. Several dozen people have reportedly been injured as the police dispersed the stone-throwing demonstrators. Riot police have managed to push a group of several hundred protesters back in Cairo's side streets near the embassy. Some of the protesters have been injured, state news agency MENA reported, giving no further details. Witnesses reporting the incident on Twitter said as many as several dozen people may have been injured. The incident comes just a day after some 2,000 demonstrators gathered around the US...

US officials are increasingly suspicious that the murder Tuesday of the US ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and three other American officials was not the result of a protest against an anti-Islam film, but instead was a coordinated terror strike timed for the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. A senior administration official told Fox News they are exhaustively investigating every angle of the attack in Benghazi, and an earlier assault on the US Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, but there are early signs the Benghazi assault may have been planned. The official cautioned, though, that the administration has not...

Hundreds of protesters upset over a movie mocking Islam demonstrated outside the American embassy in Sudan on Wednesday, an embassy official said, after attacks on US missions in Libya and Egypt. "I do believe it was a few hundred," the official said, asking for anonymity. "Our compound was not breached." He said the demonstrators were upset by the same film which prompted a mob attack late Tuesday on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya, which killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans. The amateur American-made Internet video film at the centre of the controversy, "Innocence of Muslims", portrays Muslims...

U.S. Embassy Condemns Religious Incitement September 11, 2012 The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free...

The White House is disavowing a statement from their own Cairo embassy that apologized for anti-Muslim activity in the United States. "The statement by Embassy Cairo was not cleared by Washington and does not reflect the views of the United States government," a senior administration official told POLITICO. The U.S. embassy in Cairo put out a statement early Tuesday that apologized for an anti-Muslim film being circulated by an Israeli-American real estate developer. "The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts...

As near as I can tell, the original statement released by the U.S. embassy in Cairo, " U.S. Embassy Condemns Religious Encitement", wasn't disclaimed for at least 5hrs. Why??? Maybe they were sympathetic to the feelings expressed. I think it was dangled out as bait and Romney and others took it. If the White House had wanted to correct the story, they could have done so within 20 mins of it being posted. The phoney outrage against Romney & others now is what Obama's handlers were hoping would happen. IMHO

Anti-US protests against an American-produced film which allegedly insults the Prophet Mohammed, took a violent turn in the Middle East as the US Embassy in Cairo was attacked and its consulate at Benghazi in Libya was set on fire reportedly killing one American consular official. US officials were however were reluctant to establish any link between the two incidents yesterday in Cairo, the Egyptian capital, and Benghazi, the Libyan city. "We cannot confirm any connection between these incidents," a senior State Department official said in response to questions linking the two incidents. Multiple American media outlets said that one US...

Today was another 9/11, literally. Several things happened today that when put in perspective should scare the hell out of any American and westerner.

In a pair of attacks more than 650 miles apart, Islamists stormed and seized two US embassies. In Cairo, Egypt, Islamists scaled the wall, tore down and desecrated the American flag, and hoisted their own Islamic flag which reads: “There is no God but Allah and Mohammad is his messenger.” In Benghazi, Libya, Islamists stormed the US consolae and nearly burned it to the ground. One American has reportedly been killed. While Egypt has long enjoyed friendly relations with the United States, Libya and the US have been enemies since that country sponsored terrorist attacks on the West in the...

Nina is exactly right that the appalling statement issued by the Obama State Department, apparently prior to the storming of the U.S. embassy in Cairo today, betrays the president’s agenda to impose on Americans sharia speech suppression standards in blatant violation of the First Amendment. That, however, is far from the most egregious part of today’s episode in Egypt. To attack another country’s embassy is an act of war. Now, some will be quick to point out that our embassy was not attacked by the Egyptian regime. That is no defense. Everybody was on notice that there might be rioting...

The number of protesters outside the US embassy in Cairo began to decrease Tuesday night after thousands had gathered earlier to protest a film they said was being produced in the United States that insults the Prophet Mohamed. Ultras, hardcore football fans, have joined the protest, banging drums, setting off fireworks and insulting the Central Security Forces soldiers stationed around the embassy. Earlier, around 5,000 people chanted against the US and President Barack Obama, declaring that they are willing to give their lives to avenge the dignity of their prophet.

CAIRO (Reuters) - Egyptian protesters scaled the walls of the U.S. embassy on Tuesday, tore down the American flag and burned it during a protest over what they said was a film being produced in the United States that insulted Prophet Mohammad. In place of the U.S. flag, the protesters tried to raise a black flag with the words "There is no God but God, and Mohammad is his messenger", a Reuters witness said. Once the U.S. flag was hauled down, some protesters tore it up and showed off pieces to television cameras. Others burned the remains outside the fortress-like...
