The Democratic National Convention on Wednesday featured three speakers billed as “former employees of companies controlled by Bain Capital.” They each told compelling stories about jobs lost, allegedly because of the actions of Bain under Romney’s leadership. But it turns out one of those employees never actually worked for a company controlled by Bain Capital. David Foster was supposedly one of those former employees on the convention schedule. He told the story about 750 steelworkers who lost their jobs when the Bain-controlled company GST steel filed for bankruptcy in the early 1990s.

These monsters have messed with wrong family BY LEONARD PITTS It's my job to have something to say. They pay me to provide words that help make sense of that which troubles the American soul. But in this moment of airless shock when hot tears sting disbelieving eyes, the only thing I can find to say, the only words that seem to fit, must be addressed to the unknown author of this suffering. You monster. You beast. You unspeakable bastard. What lesson did you hope to teach us by your coward's attack on our World Trade Center, our Pentagon, us? ...

THE LUSKIN REPORT In Crisis, Opportunity Donald L. Luskin Wednesday, September 12, 2001 The destruction of life and property in yesterday's terrorist attack on New York and Washington was horrendous, and we will pay its emotional and financial costs for years to come. But if America's leadership and the American people respond constructively -- as they always have in the past -- then from this crisis could emerge significant opportunities that could propel the economy and the markets into an important new growth phase. In the past, terrifying crises like this have ended up bringing out the best in ...

On His Last Leg Posted: Tuesday May 29, 2001 5:52 PM Updated: Thursday May 31, 2001 10:29 AM The Supreme Court has just handed down its decision on PGA Tour, Inc. v. Casey Martin, so I wanted to update you on how Martin and his cart are ruining the game of golf. I caddied for Martin two weeks ago at the Richmond Open on the Buy.com tour and found out the cart is a huge competitive advantage for him. For instance, when he's in the cart, the pain in his diseased right leg stops for minutes at a time. Of ...

Measures Against Malaise How to keep the good times rolling. By Steve Forbes, editor in chief of Forbes magazine April 16, 2001 Issue A growing number of observers say that we're in for a prolonged period of tough economic sledding: The NASDAQ has wiped away $4 trillion of wealth, and the rest of the stock market is being hammered as well; consumers and corporations are up to their eyeballs in debt; the rest of the world looks blah or even bleak. We went on a binge — dot-coms, this time — and now we are suffering the inevitable, head-splitting hangover. ...

The Dark Side of the Rev. Jesse Jackson Memo To: Jesse Jackson From: Jude Wanniski Re: You’ve Been a Bad Boy! First of all, Rev. Jackson, I want to assure you that the good you have done in your life clearly outweighs your disgraceful behavior over the last several weeks. If you were to find yourself at the pearly gates today, St. Peter would ask you to spend several years in Purgatory, but I think he eventually would let you pass. Seriously, I have been an admirer of yours over the years, most of the time, and strenuously have defended ...

I apologize for the vanity but I have been away all day. Could I get a summary of what happened in Saul's courtroom today? What I have been able gather is that it did not go too well for Algore's team? Thought's, highlights, spin, talking head reactions would be apreciated.

My understanding is that neither Algore nor Bush challenged the results of the Broward County recount which netted Algore some 500 votes. My question revolves around the pending Supreme Court case regarding the Florida Supreme Court's rewriting the law after the fact thereby allowing Broward to complete this recount. If the SCOTUS reverses the FlaSC, thereby resetting the certification to November 14th, and since neither candidate contested Broward, would this mean that those votes are lost to Algore for good? Any help would be appreciated.
