Military Madness, Part II Gore attempts to deny military votes again. By Eric M. Johnson, a writer living in Washington, D.C. It is the definition of madness, Einstein said, to do the same thing over and over and expect a different result. The Gore campaign is doing just that with overseas absentee ballots. Considering the firestorm that erupted when it successfully challenged them the first time, one might think they wouldn't want to do it again. I am a sergeant with the 4th Civil Affairs Group in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. My unit is not a large one, but ...

Here is the beginning of wisdom on the electoral jam. 1) In competitions, somebody wins. That means that somebody loses. 2) Margins of victory can be interesting, suggestive; worth probing for a number of reasons. But they have nothing to do with the question of winning and losing. 3) In athletic contests it is nowadays not unusual for a skier or a runner to win by 1/100th of a second. Using round numbers, 100 million Americans voted, one half going to each of the two major candidates. Winning or losing by 300 votes in a political contest in which six ...

----- Original Message ----- From: spencepryor To: Juliet Zelkowitz Sent: Thursday, November 09, 2000 4:11 PM Subject: Recount Update Juliet: please forward to all of our addresses. RECOUNT UPDATE Democrats are leaking preliminary data from recounts in Florida. These numbers are not certified, and in many cases disputed. Networks should be cautious in how they report such uncertified numbers. Here are examples of just how questionable these numbers are in two important counties. Palm Beach County A precinct-by-precinct count found a change of only six otes, but when the ballots were rerun through computer abulation the change jumped to over ...

NATIONAL REVIEW August 14, 2000 The Racemonger Al Gore at his worst. By Linda Chavez, president, Center for Equal Opportunity Al Gore's mean streak is legendary — and it is never more in evidence than when the subject is race. He has called opponents of racial preferences (and this is just for starters) "hypocrites" and "modern apostles of apathy," who "call for the end of policies to promote equal opportunity." He claims that those who believe in color-blind justice "use their color blind the way duck hunters use their duck blind." Those who disagree with him on racial preferences ...

8/04/00 8:00 a.m. Stand and Deliver That's what W. did. A critique. By Jay Nordlinger, NR managing editor He did good, as the candidate himself would say. He did good. George W. Bush gave a speech that was superbly written and decently delivered. It was a speech that worked for his mouth. It wasn't too fancy, it wasn't too eloquent, but it was direct and powerful. Philosophically and rhetorically, it was more of a Reaganite speech than a Bushian one (which is a plus). And it was one that said just about everything that can be said — about why ...

George W. Bush said his "speech is done" and he is "ready" to address the nation on the last night of the GOP Convention (Fikac, San Antonio Express-News, 8/3). The "38-minute speech will arguably be the most important political appearance" Bush "has ever made." Campaign aides said Bush "will deliver a heartfelt tribute to his parents and stick to upbeat themes - even though" Dick Cheney, "last night fired harsh shots" at the Clinton-Gore administration (Miga and Battenfield, Boston Herald, 8/3). Bush's speech "will reiterate the core themes" of his campaign - "lower taxes, Social Security and education reform, ...

Bush Takes on Clinton, Calls President 'Desperate' By Patricia Wilson CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush (news - web sites) went head-to-head with Bill Clinton on Tuesday, interpreting his attacks as a good omen and accusing the president of being ``desperate to have his legacy intact.'' Less than 24 hours away from the party's determinedly upbeat convention in Philadelphia where he will accept the Republican nomination on Thursday, the Texas governor fired back at Clinton for asserting that he was, in effect, running for the White House simply because his ``daddy was president'' and espousing the ...

Just 22% say this is not true. ...

September 16, 1999 Remembering Ruby Ridge Memo To: Jack Danforth, Waco Investigator From: Jude Wanniski Re: Take a Look at Ruby Ridge Yes, you only are appointed to look into Waco. But unofficially, I think you should take a look at Ruby Ridge. The following is an excerpt from a remarkable book by Gerry Spence called: "From Freedom To Slavery, The Rebirth Of Tyranny In America." Spence is the trial lawyer who defended Randy Weaver, the "monster" targeted by our very own Uncle Sam. The importance of what you read here is in making it clear that Waco was not ...
