Err 155 in a 71 Montego on I-20 between Abilene and Weatherford was inspiring, as in I haven’t been that fast in a car I was driving, since posted speed was err, 55 I was aiming at triple posted limit but got err, in to traffic that was a bit slower. The road was usually pretty deserted after 10pm I call that one Devine intervention me and my lonesome would have just kept hauling, can’t risk innocent spectators though.
Montego had a 351 Cleveland, c6 and a Holley 4barrel nice, very nice on the highway
Really confused by the gripes on Sellier & Belloit it is expensive but when necessary I use it as diagnostic on recalcitrant weapons for function and accuracy S&B have been making ammo literally since ammo was invented
Really like it other than $$$$
Additional thought, as you go get GI bolt and operating handle also get a GI trigger group if you can find one some what better heat treatment and milled vs cast
Recommend Desert Publications M1 CARBINE Owners Manual
You can find it online or at gun shows
Disassemble and clean it get about 10 or 12 magazines and a box of milsurplus ammo go shooting this gun is accurate and fun
Plus is really reliable I have run 100’s of rounds through mine at a set and it just keeps humming mine is an early universal with mainly GI parts
Again have fun get the right web gear and you can tote a couple of hundred rounds with out breaking a sweat (I am 5’10” 170lbs and this gun fits me like a glove) And don’t listen to any abuse of this platform My Dad used it in three war zones. It kept him alive.
