Two vulnerable senators, two opposite paths on tea party

    My favorite “vulnerable senator”?
    Missouri’s Clair McCaskill.
She was such a prominent and early supporter of Obama.

I suspect when we voted 70% against Obamacare this year
    AND
then voted Roy Blunt to the US Senate over Robin Carnahan...
McCaskill got a major case of “the pucker factor”.

She’s been mostly “missing in action”. I suspect that she thinks that
if she lays low for about six months, folks might forget she’s an
    Obamite.

    Good luck on that Claire.

Prayers for the continued recovery for the good lady.

While I don’t even “play a doctor on TV”, I do think the MDs should
have been more restrained on Giffords’ pace of recovery. I fear people
think she’ll be back debating on the floor of the House very soon.
If she ever does stage such a magnificent recovery, I will stand and applaud.
    But I admit I’m am a born skeptic-in-the-heart.
Here’s hoping I’m proved wrong in a major way.

Maybe she’ll make a comeback like the soldier in the closing (IIRC)
episode of “Band of Brothers” that got a head wound from a drunken soldier
after killing a Brit and other soldier(s).
Seeing Spiers (sp?) push a German neurosurgeon to treat and save the soldier
is a lesson in how to save a comrade. Sometimes you’ve got to seriously
    compel a physician.
And you might need to use a 1911 .45 caliber pistol to compel the doctor a bit.

You make me want to visit Vancouver now. May be worth the customs line.

    I hope I’m not over-selling Vancouver BC.
But I was there during two conferences in Mid-August in two years.
I was suprised that there wasn’t a single bit of precipitation...
    YOUR RESULTS MAY VARY.

The view from that ship-like platform that overlooks the bay and
that major bridge (Lions? Lions Gate?) is just stunning.
PLUS there are single engine prop airplanes with pontoons sitting in the
bay waiting to take you to Victoria island (for a substantial fee
    I would suspect!).
And you can make a day-trip to the mountain resort of Whistler as well.
(D-mn, I’m telling about all the things I didn’t have time and money to do!!!)

But there is plenty else to see around Vancouver proper including their
aquarium. But I’d be careful around (IIRC) “Gastown” which is a sort
of dopers quarter where dope is freely sold and consumed in a number of shops
(well at least in the late 1990s and early 2000s.)

Still it’s an awesomely beautiful place.
Even the street beggers were polite and would request contributions
with a “Sir, could you spare some change?”
I was so charmed by their civility that I parted with a dollar or two
    on each encounter.

While I say the USA did a major screw-up by not seizing Vancouver,
I fear that that if we had taken it...it would just be a twin of Seattle.
(even though that is a fairly decent place).

PS: My naive understanding is that Vancouver was the filming site
for much of “The X-Files”. On one of my Vancouver visits, I was in a
resturant and the lights went our for one-or-two minutes. The locals started to say “Paging Mulder and Scully!” as though they
could restore utilities. I had to restrain myself from laughing out loud.

Even National Public Radio has had reports on the misery of this place

And this was a city as mentioned by Newt Gingrich once had the highest
average salary of any major American city.
Democrats and Unions sure fixed that d-mned good!!!

PS: Detroiters/Michiganders (understandably) invaded my home state of
Oklahoma during the “Oil Boom in the late 1970s-early 1980s.
Just like the Califorians invading Texas these days and the “Massholes”
that flee Taxachussets to Vermont and New Hamhaphsire to escape
    CONFISCATORY state income tax...
they bring their liberal pathology with them.
Then impose it on the inhabitants of the state (organism) that they have infected.

Too bad places like Texas, Vermont and New Hampshire didn’t study history.
and erected highway signs like the one at the eastern border of California
    during the Depression.

As whitetail predators, coyotes may be more destructive than ever.

Here in Mid-Missori (Columia, MO), the coyotes seem to be on the rise.
We livc on the southwest side of Columbia with an adjacent multi-acre
    undeveloped field.
Occassionally, maybe once every two weeks, we are treated to the howling
of a pack of what we can only presume to be a pack of coyotes.
We have local deer...but lately haven’t seen them much.
Given the harshness of our “global warming” winter (guffaw), the deer
    may be on the downturn.
Although I have some testosterone, I no longer walk my brother’s
Australian Cattle Dog in that area for fear of encountering a pack of coyotes
(no matter how generally timid coyotes are reputed to be).

A local talk-radio show host mentioned that while riding by
a park area about 3 miles from our home at about 5AM...
he was spooked by hearing the howling of a pack of what he presumed were coyotes.
I don’t worry that the local coyotes wil attack humans...but if hungry enough
    during an extreme winter...who knows?

    ...the so-called “castle doctrine”...

The castle doctrine became law in Missouri a couple of years ago.

A few months after that, two thugs broke into some guy’s apartment in
fairly liberal Columbia MO (home of U. of Missouri and the Journalism School,
alma mater of Uncle Walter Cronkite).
The two thugs left in body bags.

    NO CHARGES.

Missouri ain’t Texas. But it seems to be slowly moving that direction.
    Thank Gawd!

What the Bible Really Says About Sex . . . Really?

Uh, it’s a good thing and should be done in a moral/ethical fashion.
So that you don’t ever feel ashamed of how you treat the person willing
    to participate.

Actually, I was a bit shocked when hearing a reading from (IIRC) proceedings
from a Puritan church proceedings when a husband was being chastized for
not have “intimate relations” with his spouse as often as she desired.

And I grew up thinking Puritans were a bunch of prudes?
    Who knew???

Thai airline hires transsexual flight attendants

Despite semantics...this reminds me of (in so many words) by Woody Allen:

“There is an advantage to being bisexual. You double your chances
of a date on Saturday night.”

...the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif.,....

Anyone that makes it to Southern California MUST visit the RR Presidential Library.
Beautiful landscape. It was great when I visited but now has a lot
of upgrades, including the installation of Dutch’s Air Force One.

BUT...do pay attention to the signs that say (in so many words)
“Stay off the grass. There are rattlesnakes.”
I and my cousin chuckled at one of the most effective public warning
    signs in history.

    Reagan birth centennial stamp debuts

Thanks for the heads-up. My dear old mother needs some more stamps
(believes in actually writing letters...very old school).
Having them as “forever” stamps probably will clear them out in no time.
So I’ll be at the post office as early as possible. Gotta’ get some for
    my brother as well.

I was shocked that the local PBS station (Sedalia/Warrensburg) aired the rather fair
“American Experience” biography on “The Lifeguard” RR on Monday.
When I saw it on first airing in Los Angeles, I was stunned at
    how good...and balanced it was.

As for the stamp I’d have preferred RR with a cowboy hat or aboard a horse.
That would cause severe mental distress to Dems/Libs. (chuckle)

That’ll teach me to at least scan the thread before posting!!!

Heh, isn’t that the name of venerable British actor that appeared in
a number of creepy British horror films?

If so, “it’s a small world after all”.

Married GOP Congressman Sent Sexy Pictures to Craigslist Babe

I always love how the MSM is “shocked, shocked I tell you” to discover
    a Republic/conservative actually has a libido.

If he was a Democrat/Socialist, this report would increase his “street cred”.

(Myself, I disapprove of his actions as he is, apparently, still married.
And IMHO, he should have resigned and avoid the public eye for a while.
But that’s just me. I’m a old school sort and can’t evolve out of it.)
