Tired of waiting for the city of Tacoma, Wash. to paint crosswalks on its reputably hazardous streets, a group of anonymous Tacoma residents – including some city employees – has taken to painting crosswalks themselves. The group calls itself “Citizens for a Safer Tacoma,” – and Tacoma’s city government is determined to crack down on its “rogue crosswalks” and prosecute anyone caught painting them. “In Tacoma, the law is the law,” KING 5 news reports. The city spends up to $1000 removing each illegal crosswalk. Incidentally, this is also the price of painting a legal crosswalk.

The national Food Safety Summit was attended by 1,300 food safety officials, including agents of the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control as well as a number of large businesses. Police had been called in to quell a student riot in Arizona after the Wildcats lost their game to Wisconsin. The girl in the video did not appear to be rioting or causing a scene, but the officer can be clearly viewed charging her and knocking her over for apparently no reason.
