This Wendy Nichols, from an article last week?

    http://www.al.com/news/birminghamnews/index.ssf?/base/news/115589281428240.xml&coll=2

"...Friends and classmates roundly described Karr as being extraordinarily bright, but some said he had a dark side as well.

Wendy Nichols, a Hamilton High classmate, said Karr seemed obsessed with children in the years after high school. She kept her own child away from him because he made her uncomfortable, she said.

"He's totally different from `Hickville, Alabama.' He's always been a dark person, a different bird," she said. "He's smart. He's bad smart."

Still, Nichols said many in the community doubt Karr is guilty, despite his confession, broadcast worldwide on CNN..."

Seems strange that she wouldn't have mentioned this last week. I smell a rat looking to extend her 15 minutes..like so many in this case it seems.

I agree this does not help us.

Hard line lefties will consider moving back to the Libs and/or Greens to punish Layton. To some degree, they will weigh their conscience versus stopping the Conservatives. Either way it helps the Libs more the us. More importantly, it reinforces the nonsense opinion of some voters, who may be swaying Conservatives that "they are all the same". So long as they hold on to that opinion, idiots like my in-laws, will convince themselves to vote Lib.

Walmart has done this in at least one of our stores when an employee innocently let them away with it. They scan the product and then key in the price. What I don't know is whether they get extra information such as how many of the product is on hand, expiry dates or any other details which they might use to learn more about, say how much you might sell in a given week which in turn they can use to target specific products to impact the competition.

I hate to compete with Walmart and we would normally ask them to leave but I must give them full credit for their innovation and use of technology.

Aruba murder? Even it just buys them a little time until they can get something a bit more local. Finding her alive would not only be a good thing for her and her family but it would shut the court jesters for a little while.

I hope this helps change the course to socialist ruin but I am not so confident.

Apart from simply tossing their hands up and letting a private care system develop, there are several courses of action it would seem for the governing powers. They can throw more money at it to claim they are fixing the waiting list issue, thus eliminating the need for private care raised in this suit. This would kick the issue down the road until all the 'studies are done'. They could simply delay doing anything by calling new first minister's meetings to discuss the issue and come up with 'creative solutions'. They could accept the ruling but introduce legislation making it possible for private care but put in additional taxes and regulations to leave it all but unprofitable to actually practice privately. They could also invoke the "notwithstanding clause", although that seems unlikely.

With liberals, socialists and unions basically calling the shots in most areas of our governance, the one thing I don't expect is for them to accept this ruling quietly and allow two tier to grow in any sort of a capitalistic sense.

Up in Toronto, we've had a Jack format station for about two years now. When it first came on, I quite enjoyed it but quickly learned that the "We play what we want" seems to mean "We play what we want from the limited selection we are allowed to play". Its little more than an old style mix station with a lot more emphasis on current chart toppers rather than the hundreds/thousands? of potential #1 hits from all genres of music I thought they would have played.

Funny that they would call him a "lawmaker." Our elected officials gave up making law after the Trudeau gave us his Charter. An unaccountable judiciary has been making law ever since.

Poor choice of words on my part. The reports on her current mental health are mixed but I will admit they haven;t labeled her any sort of 'path to my understanding. What the credentials of the individuals making the reports are is unknown. She has passed off BS before but I will accept their assessments.

Professional opinions aside, since I ain't no fancy doctor, but there is more than just an evil eye at play here. Raping her own sister, participating in the death of that sister for the purposes of rape, remaining silent about it, marrying the man who she helped rape and kill her sister, participating willingly in the violent rapes and torturous confinement and deaths of two teenage girls (and she had ample opportunity to turn the girls free during their days of torture as the tapes would later prove), allegedly participating in the rape of another, the now famed Jane Doe and now by media accounts in a relationship with another murderer, does not sound like the kind of person I want living next door to me and my two little girls regardless of any label applied to her. That the level of her participation in a number of these events came to light only after the deal was signed is enough for me to question whether the deal stands and the punishment was reasonable.

If it was reasonable and to be fair, let a jury of her peers evaluate the case with what we know now. If they find a punishment of 12 years or less is suitable, then let her go. If not, tack on any balance they see fit and let her rot.

I think the fact that she fudged a bit on her level of involvement by playing the victim, should they actually throw the deal out would in fact send a message to anyone else making a plea to put all the cards on table upfront and you won't have your deal dumped. That the AG is sticking to a bad deal with someone they now realize is a sociopath arguably tells future crooks that they should just say enough to get the minimum sentence and you can get away with murder.

I've not read the actual deal but many assessments by those that have seem to suggest there is evidence that she did not live up to her obligations in her disclosures and that it could and should be tossed out, i.e. try her and let a jury decide her fate.

That no prosecutor has even picked up the Jane Doe rape case to keep her locked up leaves me equally suspicious of what's driving this. For years politicians have been wringing their hands over the deal but not one of them has even tested it in the courts. Sure our courts are crap but for goodness sake put it to some sort of test.

It was the Daytona 500 and he made the apron move on Rusty Wallace. Ricky Rudd was limping around the track on the apron, 'just making laps'. JG forced a situation of either running over Rudd or running into Wallace with his move. Wallace backed off to avoid the crash and JG went on to win the race.

That move I believe was a catalyst to both the minimum speed rules being enforced and the no passing below the yellow line rule for Talledaga and Daytona. While I admire some of JG's accomplishments, it was incidents like this, which have left me in the 'not a fan' column.

I don't begrudge Labonte for giving into a sinful moment. None of us are completely free of our sins, although we might aspire to it. I am sure as a Christian he is not proud of his 'moment' now. In his further defense, I also understand apart from losing the race, he is frustrated with his total effort this year. A previous champion, he is mired way down in the points with a team that just isn't competitive for wins anymore. He knew he didn't have a car to win the race and it was only the timing of a caution when the leaders, including the eventually winner, got caught a lap down that gave him a chance to even be close to winning.

We've got a similar case in the safe socialist utopia of Toronto. The monster scalded and beat the six year old son of his girlfriend for 3 hours because the little boy wouldn't go to bed. The mother did nothing. She eventually took the boy on a bus where other riders noticed his injuries and called 911. (She claimed that was her plan because she feared her boyfriend.) The little guy was put into a medically induced coma and the good news today is he is out of the coma and improving.

Footnote: the monster had to be carried into court and was crying like a baby that the handcuffs were too tight. There is no earthly punishment sufficient for the likes of these guys.

No argument Ontario is to blame for the Libs current reign. My point relates only to Quebec separation. The Libs are the only national party that has anything going in Quebec right now. Their leadership (and recent Prime Ministers of any duration -Trudeau, Cretien, Martin) are almost entirely Quebec based. Every other party could kiss Quebec bye bye and be made stronger since it would eliminate all the Bloc votes and a significant number of Liberal votes. The Liberals can't and won't let Quebec go.

The Libs will be vulnerable in Ontario someday. The CPC needs some time to get its legs and Harper probably isn't the person to do it but the day will come. Most of those votes will come from rural Ontario. The Libs are also at risk for some seats at least in T.O. to the NDP. That crap hole is tilting so far left it's at risk of falling into the lake. The problem they will one day have is spending enough to keep the voters of T.O. without alienating the conservative vote in the rest of the province which hates the city's constant whining.

    Quebec isn't going anywhere.
#1 The Liberal Party needs Quebec to hold power and are more than happy to bribe them to stay.

#2 Quebec needs CDN$$ to maintain its socialist utopia. There might be much sabre rattling but once the real costs of separation are known, which is the trump card the Liberals would play under any real separation threat, Quebecors will stay put and continue to and count their money.

My hope is the Western separatist movement takes hold. Eastern snobbery (and a compliant MSM) will not allow anyone connected to the old Reform Party to hold power.

Not to throw too much cold water on the list but as the enemy will surely point out if true, are they any Republicans of note on record during this period, fighting for the filibuster? If not, this is golden. If so, the MSM will just show how hypocritical both sides are and call it a draw.

Don't know what to expect. With a compliant media and all the capital to bribe with, Martin might, as some speculate, orchestrate his own defeat and then spend the next month and a half demonizing the conservatives with the hope of increasing his minority edge. If he thought he could take Parrish out as a two-for by demonizing her in her riding, floating in a star candidate, whatever, he might relish the opportunity.

My guess. tonight is a big yawn. Budget passes. Nothing happens and everyone starts planning their summer vacation because there is too much risk over an election period for all involved. T'would be a shame but there aren't too many politicians with the stones to take a real risk.

I dislike Parrish but knowing her hatred for Martin, it would not surprise me to see her assist in the defeat of the government. She is safe in her riding as I understand it and should Martin lose an election it would be impossible for him to stay on as leader.

Someone may be able to give you more details but the switch is only part of the dynamic. There are independents who I believe supported the non-confidence votes last week but who are now wavering towards supporting the budget vote which would keep the Liberals in power. The Opposition needs to defeat at least one of the two budget votes tonight to force a "binding" non-confidence vote which even our media and PM couldn't ignore. If it ends up a tie, the Speaker votes and he is a Liberal so they win.
