She read every political thread from beginning to end.She knew many of you in depth even though you didn't know she was there. You gave her great delight, intellectual stimulation and hope for the future. That such fine people had a gathering place was a delight to her. She was an avid Tea Partier and participated in person locally through the whole health care debacle. She was a Renaissance woman, artist, pianist,...

I'm asking for prayer for my Sister Suzanne. Suz has been successfully fighting Cancer. The day after Thanksgiving she had the mother of all nose bleeds. She was admitted to the hospital, her nose was packed several times unsuccessfully. After 4 major bleeds she had an embolization. A surgical procedure that clots off the artery feeding the bleeding areas. She had 6 units of blood. She essentially lost half her circulation blood volume. She was in the hospital for almost 3 weeks from a non-cancer related freak occurrence. She has been frail since then but yesterday she was readmitted to...

For the second time in as many weeks I have been pushed polled by DCI. Gary being the name of the automaton. 1) Do you think 6 US ports should be purchased by an Arab firm? 2)Is the execution of Morales by lethal injection cruel and unusual? 3)??????? 4)Are you concerned about rising health care costs? 5) Have I changed driving habits as a result of rising gasoline costs? Question number one reflects a falsehood. I was polled on if I had assimilated a lie. Since I know the Dubai firm was purchasing operating facilities that represented only a tiny...

.............snip...... Although the effects of international terrorism are the subject of much discussion, its origins remain murky. However, most of the major terrorist groups in the world today, including parts of al Qaeda, can trace their origins to Soviet covert operations during the Cold War. Throughout the Cold War, the Soviets pursued a strategy of indirect attack against the U.S. and American allies around the world. Many infamous terrorist or “liberation” movements were an essential part of this strategy. Although the Soviets found plenty of willing allies in countries around the world, it was Moscow that provided the means to...

When Saddam Hussein threatened to terminate massive imports of Australian wheat in 2002, Australian Wheat Board (AWB) executives rushed to Iraq in a panic. Reuters reported that Iraq’s Minister wished “to resume and increase future business with AWB on the basis that the Australian government supports diplomatic solutions to the current situation in Iraq.” Then a peculiar thing happened. Australia did not change its foreign policy but after the meeting with Iraqi officials, the AWB emerged with a new deal. Iraq had agreed not only to continue buying Australian wheat but also to pay more for it. Australian Prime Minister...

My phone lines were laying in the backyard yesterday as the repairman took his old sweet time repairing them. I listened to Rush . For the first time I was actually tempted to pick up the phone and try to get on the air. With no phone service, I was reduced to yelling at the Radio. It's time to push back on the language of the left. Israel lost public opinion when it lost the PROPAGANDA war to the Palestinians. If you watch "Exodus" from 1960 you will see that "Palestinian was synonymous with Israeli" . That was until the...

Buying gifts for men is not nearly as complicated as it is for women. Follow these simple rules and you should have no problem. 1. When in doubt - buy him a cordless drill. It does not matter if he already has one. I have a friend who owns 17 and he has yet to complain. As a man, you can never have too many cordless drills. No one knows why. 2. If you cannot afford a cordless drill, buy him anything with the word ratchet or socket in it. Men love saying those two words, "Hey George, can I...

In the gambling art of poker, the cards are the cards. The art is the ability to bluff and to read other peoples “tell” and to suppress your own. A successful poker player has the proverbial poker face and the ability to read what other players give away. The analogy can be made to the Democrat party. They have a habit of yelling loud and long and slinging every type of salacious remark at both President Bush and Conservatives (particularly Conservative Christians), hoping to defame and control the spin cycle. The Democrat “tell” however is to call for Congressional hearings....

Starvation Symptoms The Effects Of Starvation On Behavior: Implications for Eating Disorders by David M. Garner, Ph.D. The following is an adaptation of a portion of a book chapter: Garner, D.M. (1997). Psychoeducational principles in the treatment of eating disorders. In: Handbook for Treatment of Eating Disorders. (145-177). D.M. Garner & P.E. Garfinkel (Eds). New York, NY: Guilford Press. One of the most important advancements in the understanding of eating disorders is the recognition that severe and prolonged dietary restriction can lead to serious physical and psychological complications (Garner, 1997). Many of the symptoms once thought to be primary features...

I have the consent of Salamander to post this. In the interest of clarity for those undecided about Terri's quality of life and her potential for recovery, I post Salamanders story. A fascinating take on the nature of brain injury and its effects on consciousness.I have no frontal lobe. It was destroyed in an accident in 1981. All that's filling up the space is scar tissue and spinal fluid. Apparently I'm still functioning and "thinking" to some extent. I won't bore you with the details of the damage I also sustained in my temporal and parietal lobes and cerebellum. Suffice...

The following is a pre-approved posting whose purpose is to offer insight and advice to Northerners moving South. 1. Save all manner of bacon grease. You will be instructed on how to use it shortly. 2. Just because you can drive on snow and ice does not mean Southerners can. Stay home the two days of the year it snows. 3. If you do run your car into a ditch, don't panic. Four men in the cab of a four-wheel pick-up with a 12-pack of beer and a tow chain will be along shortly. Don't try to help them. Just...

In case you needed further proof that the human race is doomed through stupidity, here are some actual label instructions on consumer goods. On some Swanson frozen dinners -- "Serving suggestion: Defrost." (but,it's "just" a suggestion). On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom) -- "Do not turn upside down." (well...duh, a bit late, huh!) On Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding -- "Product will be hot after heating." (...and you thought????...) On packaging for a Rowenta iron -- "Do not iron clothes on body." (but wouldn't this save me more time)? On Boot's Children Cough Medicine -- "Do not drive a...

I have about had it with all the attacks on Christmas, Christmas Trees, Nativity Scenes, Christmas Carols on and on. Do you think we could get them to shut up if we gave Atheists their own day to raise their self esteem. Maybe with their own day they won't be so offended that there are Christians that hold December 25th precious. Give them February 11. It doesn't seem to belong to anyone else. They can give each other bags of hot air. They can have a meal of grouse, sour grapes and toast each other with pickle juice. They can...
