We lost another WW11 vet today. My wife's Dad, August Niemann went to be with the Lord today . He was 94 years old. He flew as a ball-turret gunner out of England at the end of WW11. To his dying day he would never talk about the war. When he did, he would only tell us about the food drops at the end of the war. He said the people of Europe were so hungry, they would run out to get food as it was still falling. Sometimes there were so many people on the field, they would have to...

I just went and got a haircut. My barber is a very nice Thai lady whom I've been seeing for about ten years. Her son is in Iraq. He called to let her know he has been ordered to Mosul. Please put him on your prayer list. His name is PFC Peter T. Notkin, C Co 1/24 INF. He drives a Stryker armored vehicle. Please keep him and ALL our kids in prayer. His mother is very proud of him and terrified at the same time.

IRA's mockery of justice 06may01 THE human rights of IRA terrorists shot dead in an SAS ambush as they tried to blow up a police station and murder the officers inside were violated, a European court ruled yesterday. In a decision condemned as "astonishing and perverse", seven judges said Britain should pay the families of the eight men - among them some of the IRA's most notorious killers - $30,000 each because the cases were not properly investigated. The European Court of Human Rights also made similar awards to the families of two other IRA men and a Sinn ...

Asked how close she was to making her decision, Reno replied, "I hope to do it ...

Analysis: Rudy Drops Out By Jacob Weisberg Posted on Slate 5/19/00 2:14:07 PM PT At his press conference this afternoon, Rudy Giuliani said he was withdrawing from the New York Senate race because he had "decided to put my health first." Commentators were quick to note the other obvious, unstated reason: He's a Republican who just left his wife for another woman. But there's a third factor, which hasn't been much discussed. Rudy would almost certainly have lost to Hillary Clinton even if he were in good health and happily married. The reason is that New York is now firmly ...

Pristina, Yugoslavia: As President Clinton prepares to visit to Kosovo, it is common to see and hear things here that don't fit with the tidy fictions proffered by NATO and White House officials. For instance, when NATO's former top commander in Kosovo, Gen. Michael Jackson, turned over his post recently, he pronounced: "We have seen a return to normality" in ...

First We Modernize then We Abandon the Canal The United States started a $1 billion canal modernization program in 1997 that will be completed in 2005. To date our government has spent $450 million on this project. This information came from an article, "Passage to 2000" by John C. Gribar, P.E. & Jaime A. Bocanegra in the December, 1999 issue of the technical magazine "Civil Engineering" published by the American Society of Civil Engineers. This expenditure, solely by our government, is very interesting, since we will be abandoning this 85-year old project to the country of Panama in two ...
