Weather Channel Meteorologist Jen Delgado is facing sharp criticism and some are asking for her to be fired after she blamed Haiti's deforestation in part to hungry children eating trees. In a weather report as Hurricane Matthew prepared to make landfall in Haiti, Delgado noted that Haiti suffers from a deforestation problem. "They take all the trees down, they burn the trees," and she continued with a curious claim, "Even the kids there, they're so hungry, they actually eat the trees."

Although Stephen Stills never became a Monkee, despite auditioning for the band and their kickass TV show (and then telling his buddy Peter Tork to join the band), he did wind up playing on a handful of Monkees sessions. His guitar can even be heard on one of the band's most smokin' tunes, Tork's "Long Title: Do I Have to Do This All Over Again?” from the Head soundtrack album (1968). However, a lot of people don't know that Neil Young—Stills' Buffalo Springfield and CSNY bandmate—appears on more Monkees' tracks than Stills. You can hear his guitar on "As We...

The woman who struggles with confusion in everything she attempts addressed the House members. She said, “It is important as this Congress begins to deal with the confusion of the continuing resolution that it be noted that we have not addressed the question of gun violence, ending gun violence, closing the loop hole that is so important in a background check.” She complains that those who are on the terror watch list have random access to buying guns. The vast majority of those are foreigners, and since she thinks that terrorists will purchase their guns legally and obey all gun...

Hillary Clinton “did not have a good performance,” according to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, and Donald Trump had “the strongest debate performance he’s had in this election cycle.” Cruz, who recently endorsed the man who beat him in the Republican primary after months of refusing to do so, embraced his new role as a Trump surrogate in an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, dinging Clinton as “tired” and “formulaic” while praising Trump for drawing “strong contrast.”

When a band that has been around for more than 40 years goes on the road, fans have to be prepared for the possibility that this go-round may be the last. While AC/DC isn’t officially calling this a farewell tour, the fact that singer Brian Johnson had to leave the tour after a doctor said he was risking total hearing loss means it’s unlikely he’ll take the stage with the band again. Johnson’s departure follows co-founder Malcolm Young departure in 2014 because he is suffering from dementia. That same year, drummer Phil Rudd was arrested for threatening to kill someone...

From zebra stripes to a honeycomb lattice, nature features breathtaking patterns. Now, physicists based in China have found a way to recreate these natural motifs in 3-D — using just a little electricity. Their new device discharges plasma — air and argon gas charged with electricity — or the same stuff found in neon lights. Using different voltages, the researchers were able to create various 3-D shapes in the plasma. “To experts, this work could advance the development of plasma physics,” co-inventor Lifang Dong of Hebei University told the NewsHour. “But to non-experts, it could explain a whole range of...

LEXINGTON, KY - A report of a car full of men in body armor with semi-automatic weapons brought Lexington police to the Walmart on Richmond Road on Saturday night. Officers found two men, one in body armor, a 20-year-old woman and a six-month old baby. Lt. Jackie Newman said that when Lexington police officers got the three people out of the car about 11:15 p.m., they said they were preparing for doomsday and needed supplies. A 26-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were in the car with their 6-month-old baby and a 19-year-old man, police spokeswoman Brenna Angel said Monday....

The "Hawaii Mars II", one of two remaining Martin Mars, performs flybys and drops 7,200 gallons of water for the crowd at the 2016 EAA AirVenture airshow in Oshkosh, WI. This massive flying boat is the world's largest warbird, and an exceptionally rare sight. It was delivered to the US Navy in 1946 and later converted for civilian use as a fire fighting aircraft. During AirVenture, the Mars is flying off of Lake Winnebago just a couple miles east of Oshkosh.

Jorge Ramos' latest column clarifies and brightens a formerly blurry line between journalism and advocacy; between neutrality and partisanship, tacitly endorsing Hillary Clinton for President in the process. To my knowledge, the Univision/Fusion star is the only national network anchor with a binational weekly column, running first in Mexico city's Reforma before publication across Univision's platforms. To be clear, Ramos has been anti-Trump from the outset of his candidacy, but any reasonable analyst could have attributed that to nothing more than a business-interest bias towards immigration policy. Recall that it was MRC Latino that broke news of his speech at Harvard,...

A 51-foot joint will make an appearance in Philly for the Democratic National Convention next week. No, it doesn’t actually contain marijuana – just a lot of air. The giant joint has circulated at past events in New York City and Washington, D.C. DCMJ, an organization pushing for marijuana legalization, will lead the joint-centered march. It’s expected to start sometime after noon on July 25th, according to PhillyVoice. Volunteers will help carry the joint to the convention, and activists will support it on the return journey. According to the Associated Press, the Secret Service flagged and restricted the whereabouts of...

The man holding the door presumably thought Kerry was going to stay outside and shut the door, just as Kerry turned to step inside. Kerry then smacked into the door to the sound of the crowd audibly gasping. Whoops!

What to know about the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, which officially kicked off Monday morning: • Live streaming will resume here at 4:50 p.m. PT. • Multiple state delegations walked off the floor after the rules were passed twice by voice vote and anti-Trump delegates protested on the floor. • Big protests are planned, and protests outside Donald Trump events have turned violent throughout the primary season. Many extremist groups are expected to show up. • Melania Trump will headline the first night of the convention, as well as speakers such as actors Scott Baio and Antonio Sabato Jr.,...

“The difference between a hunting rifle and an assault rifle is, frankly, the scope that one puts on it. Scopes can be purchased online.” “Double shot weapons” “They can do it very easily with something you could purchase at a grocery store.”

IRANA, Albania (AP) — Albania's main opposition Democratic Party made a criminal complaint against Prime Minister Edi Rama Monday, accusing him of illegally funneling $80,000 to U.S. President Barack Obama's re-election campaign in 2012 in return for a photograph of the two men together. The Democrats brought the case to the Prosecutor General's office, saying Rama — who was then the opposition leader — paid the money in violation of U.S. and Albanian laws to gain access to a campaign event in San Francisco in October 2012. Last week Bilal Shehu, 48, a U.S. citizen of Albanian origin, pleaded guilty...

On Sunday, a peaceful Maine afternoon turned into a scene like something from an action movie, when gunfire erupted in a Walmart parking lot. According to Augusta police, the occupants of two vehicles parked alongside one another were arguing over money when they suddenly began exchanging a barrage of bullets. However, it wasn’t long before — as WGME reports — a pair of bystanders stepped in, ending the chaotic situation before it could turn into something far more tragic.

Bet the traditional media won’t show you these. In anticipation of Monday’s Supreme Court decision in Whole Woman's Health v. Hellerstedt, activists from both sides assembled en masse around the highest court’s front steps. The abortion case out of Texas challenged HB 2, which required abortionists to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals and mandated that those clinics adhere to the same standards as ambulatory surgical centers. The media will no doubt cover the court’s decision in favor of abortion supporters (in other words, against the safety regulations that would force abortion clinics to close). But it’s unlikely that the...

A new group in the LGBT community has formed to spread awareness about gun violence. Gays Against Guns formed in the aftermath of the Orlando shooting and met on June 17 to officially organize and make plans to be in the NYC Pride March, according to a press release. The group, comprised of LGBT New Yorkers and allies, marched during the Pride parade on Sunday to help remember the 49 victims of the Orlando shooting and to spread awareness of their message. However, its main goal is to advocate working through peaceful actions to prevent another massacre like the Orlando...
