Obese people eat more food because it simply tastes better, a new study has found. Researchers at the University of Iowa gave chocolate to a group of obese and non-obese women and found that as the obese group kept eating the food continued to taste almost as good to them as the first bite. The findings suggest that understanding taste perceptions may be crucial to preventing obesity when combined with targeting nutritional awareness. “If people with obesity have different taste perceptions than nonobese people, it could lead to better understanding of obesity,” lead investigator Linnea Polgreen noted, according to News...

Mike Conaway of Texas confirmed reports about his retirement on Wednesday, citing his desire to spend more time with family as one reason for his decision. Joe Biden, 76, repeatedly stumbled over numbers and phrases throughout his second Democratic presidential primary appearance Wednesday night, at one point accidentally endorsing one of his primary rivals. Biden told viewers that if they agree with him, "go to Joe 3-0-3-3-0." He likely meant to tell them to text the number 30330, which subscribes supporters to text message Biden campaign updates. Near the beginning of the Detroit debate, Biden said that California Sen. Kamala Harris' plan on "Medicare for all" single-payer healthcare "in 10 years will cost $3 trillion," misstating estimates that find "Medicare for all" would cost $32 trillion...

Terminally ill New Jersey adults will be able to decide when it’s time to die starting Thursday, when the state begins allowing patients to self-administer lethal drugs. The “Medical Aid in Dying for the Terminally Ill Act” lets mentally sound Garden State residents with six months or fewer left to live request a cocktail of drugs to end their lives. “This law provides incredible peace of mind to people in my situation, knowing they have this option within reach,” said Susan Boyce, an advocate for the law and potentially one of its beneficiaries, according to NJ.com. “It does a lot...

The cages for kids were built by the Obama Administration in 2014. He had the policy of child separation. I ended it even as I realized that more families would then come to the Border!

Asked why @BernieSanders is so angry, the answer is simple: 28 years in Congress and never able to pass even a scintilla of his socialist agenda. All hat, no cattle.I'm angry because multi-millionaires like you and Trump have rigged our economy at the middle class' expense. https://twitter.com/MittRomney/status/1156565822850129925 I'm angry because millions are living paycheck to paycheck. I'm angry because 34 million Americans are uninsured. Why doesn't that anger you? https://twitter.com/BernieSanders/status/1156594006421385216 Nice try, but socialism isn’t the answer. If it was, maybe Bernie would have something to show for his 3 decades in Congress. #AllHatNoCattle

The National Archives released tape of a controversial 1971 phone call between then-California Gov. Ronald Reagan and President Richard Nixon. “To see those monkeys from those African countries — damn them, they’re still uncomfortable wearing shoes!” the future two-term POTUS said, at which Nixon laughed. The conversation came the day after the United Nations — including delegates from African countries — voted to recognize the People’s Republic of China over Taiwan.

CNN’s Don Lemon, the dumbest man on television, insinuated last night while asking a debate “question” that I was a racist, when in fact I am “the least racist person in the world.” Perhaps someone should explain to Don that he is supposed to be neutral, unbiased & fair,..... ....or is he too dumb (stupid} to understand that. No wonder CNN’s ratings (MSNBC’s also) have gone down the tubes - and will stay there until they bring credibility back to the newsroom. Don’t hold your breath!

Ryan was the only one of the 10 candidates on stage in Detroit not to put his hand over his heart during the national anthem. "The View" co-host Meghan McCain quickly pointed out the incident on Twitter. “Put your hand over your heart for the star spangled banner Tim Ryan!!!” she wrote.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill Tuesday requiring all presidential candidates, including President Donald Trump, to fork over their tax returns if they wish to appear on the state's primary election ballot. “As one of the largest economies in the world and home to one in nine Americans eligible to vote, California has a special responsibility to require this information of presidential and gubernatorial candidates,” Newsom said in a statement. While the law is expected to be challenged, Trump could sidestep its requirement by not competing in the California primary. With little competition for the Republican Party nomination, Trump...

President Trump issued a sharp message Tuesday to House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md.: the real oversight is needed in the congressman’s home district. Speaking to reporters on the White House lawn, Trump was asked about the ongoing feud between him and Cummings since Trump made derogatory remarks about Baltimore, which Cummings represents. “Take your Oversight Committee and go to Baltimore, you’ll learn a lot,” Trump said. This was after the president doubled down on his past criticism by calling Baltimore “the most unsafe city” in the U.S., despite receiving $15 billion in federal funding. The district received...

President Trump on Tuesday said his ongoing barrage of attacks on Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and the city of Baltimore are not part of a larger political strategy, telling reporters he's "pointing out facts" in repeatedly criticizing the city's conditions. "There’s no strategy. I have no strategy. There’s zero strategy," Trump said upon returning to the White House from a trip to Jamestown, Va. "All it is is I’m pointing out facts," he added. "The most unsafe city in our country is Baltimore." He repeated his assertion that Cummings, who represents parts of Baltimore, should use his power as House...

Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson pushed back against what she described as a false narrative surrounding her, insisting that she is not a “wacky new-age nutcase.” “The establishment media sees me as a real threat to the status quo,” Williamson told Hill.TV during an interview that aired on Tuesday. “People are so invested in creating this false narrative about me as the ‘crystal lady,’ ‘wacky new-age nutcase.’ If you really think about it, I must be doing something right that they’re so scared,” she added. Williamson, a self-help author and spiritual advisor to Oprah Winfrey, insisted that the U.S. doesn’t...

Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson on Monday night defended President Trump's scathing comments about Baltimore, where Carson worked for years as a neurosurgeon. Carson, the only black member of Trump's Cabinet, told Fox News host Tucker Carlson that while at Johns Hopkins Hospital he would sometimes find ways to keep young patients for an extra day or two to keep them from returning to squalid conditions. "As a pediatric neurosurgeon, I spent many hours, sometimes operating all night long, trying to give children of Baltimore and other places around the world a second chance at life. And usually...
