Bob Schieffer on Sunday blamed the internet for the growing number of Americans that think Barack Obama is a Muslim. Namelessly referring to last week's Pew Research Center poll finding that eighteen percent now believe this, the "Face the Nation" host concluded Sunday's program saying that "in the internet age, ignorance travels as rapidly as great ideas."

As Congressman Ted Poe elucidates in the video below the federal government has come up with unique solution to the problem of undocumented aliens crossing our border in undocumented ways with undocumented consequences for public safety, the rule of law and the economy: don’t go there — literally.

A federal court ruling throwing out key sections of Arizona's tough anti-illegal immigration law has apparently not stopped momentum for similar "crackdown" legislation in other states. A national lobby, Americans for Legal Immigration, said Wednesday 22 states are now considering versions of the Arizona legislation. They range from one other border state, Texas, to large northern states like Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Most recently, Colorado and Alabama went forward with legislation, according to the organization.

President Obama said Social Security is not in crisis and only modest changes are needed to keep it solvent. The president acknowledged at a small town hall gathering in Columbus, Ohio, Wednesday that the pension fund "has to be tweaked because the population is getting older" but said Republicans' plans to drastically overhaul the program are wrong.

First, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg stepped in it over the proposed Ground Zero mosque by sanctimoniously declaring his support for freedom of religion. That was a real profile in courage, since he knew very well the issue had nothing whatsoever to do with freedom of religion. No one was telling the mosque developers that they couldn’t build the mosque. We were asking politely for them not to build it where jihadists incinerated nearly 3000 Americans on September 11—in the name of Islam. That point was clearly lost on the Mayor, who was lost in his own arrogance, ignorance, and...

For the second time in only days, the Navy has fired a ship's commander in connection with allegations of improper behavior. Capt. David A. Schnell was removed from command of the amphibious assault ship Peleliu on Aug. 15 after Navy investigators concluded his behavior toward several crew members was "inappropriate, improper and unduly familiar," Navy officials said in an announcement.

Barack Obama this week extended his “best wishes to Muslims in America and around the world” and wished them a “Ramadan Kareem.” And he wrote, as he did in last year’s Ramadan message also, about “the principles that we hold in common, and Islam’s role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of all human beings.” Which principles do we hold in common? Death for apostates? The legitimacy of honor killing? I don’t begin to know what Obama is talking about here. Other religions are not tolerated in Muslim countries. Churches and synagogues do not exist in some Islamic...

A lesbian cadet asked to resign from the U.S. Military Academy because she said she can no longer lie about her sexuality and was troubled by the anti-gay attitudes of some around her. Katherine Miller of Findlay, Ohio, also said she wants to fight for repeal of the "don't ask, don't tell" law, a subject she was studying and writing about as a sociology major at West Point.

The usual rush to the exits from a sinking administration is now ongoing. The only difference this cycle is that – whereas in the case of the Bush departed who, we were lectured, were rightfully bitter that their genius was not appreciated (e.g., Paul O’Neil, Richard Clarke, Scott McClellan, etc) by the Bush Neanderthals, and were men of conscious who were “blowing the whistle” — we are now told by the New York Times that the Obama parachutists are burned out and “exhausted,” from “blackberrying” all day long!

California has long been a destination for those seeking a better place to live. For most of its history, the state enacted sensible policies that created one of the wealthiest and most innovative economies in human history....Recently, though, the dream has been evaporating. Between 2003 and 2007, California state and local government spending grew 31 percent, even as the state’s population grew just 5 percent. The overall tax burden as a percentage of state income, once middling among the states, has risen to the sixth-highest in the nation,

SNIP...I’ll reserve final judgment until I read the entire piece. But based on these excerpts — which presumably reflect the thrust of the 10,000-word article — what is striking is the degree of self-pity we find in Obama’s advisers, which is reflected in the president’s words and attitude as well. Team Obama sounds nothing so much as overmatched and overwhelmed, unable to understand what has gone wrong, and increasingly bitter toward the nation’s capital and the pace and nature of politics.

SNIP...Eventually, they drew attention to what was going on and more of us started speaking out. Then, God bless her, Sarah Palin jumped in. That's when it officially became okay for the GOP to get involved en masse -- and along with Joe Lieberman, the ADL, and other groups, they did. This made sense, because multiple polls show that the people of New York and the American people are against having this mosque. Still, the liberal elite in New York were wholeheartedly in favor of the idea and let's face it: They run things there. So, it still seemed entirely...

SNIP...After Arizona passed the law one Robert Sarver, the owner of the Phoenix Suns thug .. er ... basketball team spouted off in opposition of the bill. That ... according the legend ... prompted this response from Governor Jan Brewer: "What if the owners of the Suns discovered that hordes of people were sneaking into games without paying? What if they had a good idea just who the gate-crashers are, but the ushers and security personnel were not allowed to ask these folks to produce their ticket stubs, thus non-paying attendees couldn't be ejected. Furthermore; what if Suns' ownership was...

Arianna Huffington of the Huffington Post said the Mama Grizzlies video on You Tube is the most important political ad in the 2010 mid-term elections. I agree. In fact, Sarah Palin is the most important person in this election — eclipsing the president, who is forced to sit on the sidelines and hope the voters don’t beat his party too badly. This is her test. Her surrogates are on the ballot everywhere and their victories — or losses — will reflect on her viability as a presidential candidate.

President Obama averaged 47.3% job approval during his sixth quarter in office, spanning April 20-July 19 -- his lowest quarterly average to date. Americans' approval of Obama has declined at least slightly in each quarter of his presidency.
