That's when it officially became okay for the GOP to get involved en masse -- and along with Joe Lieberman, the ADL, and other groups, they did. This made sense, because multiple polls show that the people of New York and the American people are against having this mosque. Still, the liberal elite in New York were wholeheartedly in favor of the idea and let's face it: They run things there. So, it still seemed entirely possible that despite all of the public pressure, the mosque was fated to go forward anyway.

Ah, surely you don’t think that the New York elites were bribed to ya...?
I know that people in NY are out of work and hurting like everyone else, but will the union rank and file actually build it?
I hope that Bloomberg’s waterloo is in the making!

I don’t think they would need to be bribed.
Sure, the mosque/”cultural center” will be tax exempt and they will lose that. But they will gain the other business that will be had by bringing about 5000-10,000 more Mooses to the city.
Also as liberals, they somehow feel a need to show the Mooses that they have nothing to be sorry for as far as 9/11 involvement is concerned.

Of course, that just might be promises of future tax revenue for New York, or maybe other non-prosecution things...

I really do not so much care that they build a mosque, just not there. (I’m thinking farther east and south—MUCH farther).
The first undersea mosque would be cool.

It just recently turns out that Con Edison owns some of that property.
Wouldn’t anyone/everyone in their right mind check land titles before committing funds for an architect, PR, lawyers, etc, etc, and attempt to get financing?
Why would the Mayor’s office come out in such vehement support of this project, while no-one did any due diligence as to the ownership of this property??
I believe that something is seriously lurking under the surface of this project that the public doesn’t know yet, and may never know!
Is Bloomberg setting up Con Ed to be forced to donate their land rights to the muzzies for the PC interests of diversity, of an already City approved project?? What backhanded money may be involved??
