Believe it or not an lds person recommended freerepublic to me and I've enjoyed the discussions and posts. But the constant anti LDS stream is irritating. I challenge anyone to find a more patriotic, hard working, generous group of people. Of course I've found God fearing good people in all religions I've worked with. Why all the hate here? I'd venture to say that a large percentage of visitors here are LDS. I suggest that it is time for all of them to find another web page to support or make a new one. I know I'll be looking. Time to move on.

Too bad almost all the people Freepers keep talking about also lost ....to Romney. They are all damaged goods. We need some new energetic candidate that can win!

Well, the country did make a mistake in the last election. Lots of people here hated Romney so much they effectively cast a vote for barry. I’m pretty sure the same folks will find something wrong with the next republican candidate, something like they have a cat for a pet or maybe they will be Catholic, and end up putting Clinton in.

    Here's a good comparison for ya’ll.
Sunday on a flight from Salt Lake to Reno that had been delayed two hours a young white guy loudly asked for a food voucher from Delta. This obviously dangerous behavior got him hauled away within minutes by two cops. Maybe he had been drinking (did not seem intoxicated to me) but he was calmly sitting down when the cops came.
  • If tithes go to pastors, what about Deut 26:12 where tithes went to widows, etc, every 3rd year?

I would much rather willingly give tithes than have the government threaten me to get funds to redistribute.

I'm LDS and do believe in a tithe, but not to pay the pastor. Our Bishop or pastor serves as a volunteer and does not get paid. Our tithes and fast offerings go to our church and it is the Bishop who is responsible to help people in need with the available funds and supplies from the Bishop's storehouse.

Good luck - Now this thread will probably turn into a mormon bashing thread so rather than follow up I will go now and cling to my bible and shop for ammo online:)

I think many Freepers deserve Obama after watching literally years of anti-Romney ads and editorials on the Free Republic. Many probably didn’t even vote I imagine, out of some misplaced sense of righteous indignation. You couldn’t click on one topic without seeing a Romney bashing ad and statement. The only really bad thing about an Obama win for many Freepers is that they won’t be able to complain about Romney anymore.

I believe your numbers are incorrect. Check out

I would suggest a little statistical thinking. If you look at major earthquakes, say above 7 in magnitude, the number per year is quite stable. For now:)

BS - I think the dollar I earned in the year 2000 was only worth about 80% of the dollar I earned in 1990. I didn’t see much deflation. Show me numbers instead of throwing out generic statements :)

If any of you are worried about your Toyota four-wheel-drive suddenly accelerating I will happily trade you my 1999 Dodge Durango for any Toyota Tacoma, Four-Runner, etc. with similar miles. Don’t worry, I’ve replaced the defective factory ball joints that cause the front wheels to fall off, and it has the old 70s era 318 cubic inch V-8 in the truck, not the larger engine where the main computer chip somehow fails without warning and kills the engine on the freeway. I don’t seem to remember any factory recalls for those minor glitches in my Detroit product.
  • LDS Church exclusion of members access to their own records 2008

As an LDS membership clerk for a ward (about 500 people) I’m constantly having members correct their records. Anyone can see their records (not someone else’s) at any time. All members are supposed to be given the “Individual Ordinance Summary” whenever changes are made to their records. Pretty much all of the information on a member’s “official” record is contained on that document (at least they look the same to me but with a different heading). It’s just personal information such as when a person was baptized or married. We have had problems with some members (like the type that takes screen shots of databases of other people’s info) taking a copy of membership records and using it to mail out things like Christmas cards or wedding invitations.

I’m starting to question the general sanity of Freepers as well as the accuracy of most everything on the site given that every time I’ve seen something I have personal knowledge of it’s totally off-base.
