November 12, 2004 DEATH OF ARAFAT: 'HEROIC DEEDS,' BUT MANY 'SHORTCOMINGS' KEY FINDINGS ** Arafat was a "symbol" of Palestinian hopes but an "obstacle" to an independent Palestine. ** Optimists describe Arafat's death as "yet another chance" for a "new opening" for peace. ** Pessimists see a "dangerous void" in the PA, with "conflict verging on civil war." ** The U.S. must "initiate mediation efforts" given this "opportunity to revive" dialogue. MAJOR THEMES The 'architect of modern terrorism'-- Global papers noted Arafat's mixed legacy. Several Muslim writers joined conservative and Israeli critics in decrying Arafat's "shortcomings," including "incompetence and corruption"...

I waited for him in my car and of the 15 or 20 that went in only one accepted a light blue Kerry sample ballot before going in. I witnessed Blacks, Whites, Hispanics and Moms turning down the Kerry flyer for BUSH flyers. Inside: I didn't go in, but when my brother came back out he said of about 75 people inside that he saw only ONE person with Kerry sample....

Semtex: Semtex is clearly the explosive of choice by international terrorist groups for two reasons. First it is easily available and cost effective. It is considered by many to the best plastic explosive in the world. Semtex uses a crystalline high explosive, combined with a binder of a synthetic styrene-butadiene rubber binder which produces an odorless consistency of Silly Putty or Play Dough. Semtex was invented by Stanislav Brebera who studied at the Prague Technical University and Prague’s Military Technical Institute and in 1950 at the Synthesia chemical company. Although plastic explosives were initially developed in 1887 by Alfred Nobel...

Deficit declines $100 billion Jack Kemp (archive) October 18, 2004 | Print | Send The media and all too many political elites, it seems, never learn. For at least 20 of the past 25 years, there has been constant hand-wringing over the federal budget deficit. Well, they're at it again. Headlines around the world last week decried the $413 billion fiscal 2004 deficit as a historic record. The International Monetary Fund, once again interfering in U.S. economic policy, has called on the United States to raise taxes. All of this is exacerbated by political demagoguery of the Kerry campaign saying...

Today, lawyer Tulio Alvarez presented his final report on the fraud in the recall referendum, the evidence is truly remarkable once the analysis of the telecommunications is included. You can find Alvarez’ full report here, it is quite long and dense, but it has a lot of stuff in it. I am translating a shorter version to post on it and link to it. But let’s start at the beginning. Alvarez had hired a room at a local hotel (Eurobuilding) to hold his press conference. When the management of the hotel found out what the press conference was going to...

London 16 Oct. 04 – The much expected report of Tulio Alvarez was finally released yesterday. It is a meticulous and comprehensive piece of work that lays bare the fraud perpetrated by the regime of Hugo Chavez in connivance with the three partisan directors of the Electoral Council (CNE), namely Francisco Carrasquero, Jorge Rodriguez and Oscar Battaglini. It shows peculiar and outright illegal characteristics of the voting machines such as bidirectional communication capacity; it reveals three additional hubs of electronic communications manned by foreigners and the army that were interconnected with the CNE-CANTV web, which altered electronic data in its...

Ossetians Vow Revenge for Beslan The traditional Orthodox 40 days of mourning comes to an end on Wednesday for the relatives of the Beslan school siege victims. The North Caucasus holds its breath, waiting to see if Ossetian vows of revenge against their Ingush neighbors will spark another bloody war in the region Last week, Tanik Kuizev buried a niece who was among hundreds of those who died after a North Ossetian school was seized by raiders, among whom were members of a rival Ingush ethnic group. After Wednesday, he vows, he will bury an Ingush to be killed in...

Moscow is preparing to welcome Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. His upcoming talks with his Russian colleague, Vladimir Putin, have already evoked much interest in the world. Venezuela and Russia are rich in hydrocarbons and pursue independent oil policies because they are not members of OPEC. Venezuela, the 5th largest oil exporter, produces 3.1 million barrels a day and Russia, the 2nd largest oil exporter, produces 9.33 million barrels a day. The approaches the two leaders, who are popular in their countries, have taken to reinforce the state's role in the energy sector have some similarities. Chavez said that a recent...

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan says its security forces have “broken the back” of Al Qaeda’s network in the country by killing a key Al Qaeda operative during a weekend raid on a home in southern Pakistan, a claim it has made before only to witness more terror activity. Amjad Hussain Farooqi, who was wanted for his alleged role in the 2002 kidnapping and beheading of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl and in two failed assassination attempts on President Gen. Pervez Musharraf, died Sunday when security forces opened fire after he refused to surrender. Since his death, authorities have tagged Farooqi...

news.com.au Indon bombers 'gaining confidence' By Rob Taylor in Jakarta September 30, 2004 THE masterminds behind the Australian embassy bombing are building new extremist networks close to Jakarta to launch fresh attacks, Indonesia's top counter-terrorism official has warned. As elite police continue their hunt for the bombers, arresting a man named Uyok Saefuloh in the village of Kebon Pedes, counter-terror chief Ansyaad Mbai said there was evidence the blast may not have been the work of Jemaah Islamiah as such. Ansyaad, who heads the anti-terrorism office in Indonesia's security ministry, said Malaysian bombmaker Azahari Husin and suicide bomb recruiter Noordin...

Saudi militant funded Beslan raid: Russia By Vladimir Radyuhin MOSCOW, SEPT. 29. The school hostage-taking raid in Beslan, southern Russia, earlier this month was financed by a Saudi militant, the Russian military has said. Abu Hafs, a Saudi national, funded the siege in North Ossetia and a foiled terror strike in Dagestan, another region neighbouring Chechnya. Abu Hafs has replaced Abu al-Walid, a Saudi killed earlier this year, as the foreign fund-raiser for Chechen rebels. Russian sources said the two Saudis and Omar Ibn al-Khattab, a warlord killed in Chechnya in 2002 met Osama bin Laden. In the early 1990s,...

LABOR candidate Ivan Molloy posed with a machine gun supplied by Muslim extremists and has said Australia should be turning its military on both itself and the US. Dr Molloy has also claimed Muslim guerilla groups should not be labelled terrorists. The group he posed with in the Philippines in 1983 has recently been linked by Washington to Osama Bin Laden's al-Qaeda network. Dr Molloy yesterday denied he was a supporter of the group known as the Moro Liberation Front. In the early 1980s the group was trying to violently separate the Mindanao Islands from the Philippines and establish a...
