My grandparents, both sides, were farmers in the Midwest (central Iowa and central Illinois). I’m sure they all qualified for Bernie’s classification of poverty. Yet, I doubt they would ever have considered themselves poor.
Nonetheless, they raised 11 children between them, 6 served in WWII and all went on to success as it’s defined in the Midwest. Most all the grandchildren have done well.
Still, people like Bernie who choose a political life on one of the two coasts feel that if they aren’t rich, then they are poor, victims of poverty. To them, I say Tango Sierra. It’s up to you to change it!
