  • Rep. Gowdy:CIA director Morell wasn't telling the truth about no political pressure in Benghazi

Former acting Deputy Director of the CIA Michael Morell testified before the House Intelligence Committee last month, saying the Benghazi CIA station chief e-mailed three possibilities for what had motivated the 2012 attack:... Morell also denied any kind of cover-up or political influence ... "...why you took out the word terrorist and put in the word extremist, why you sanitized and washed out all the criticism of the State Department, why you changed the word attack to demonstration," said Gowdy. "Every single change that Mike Morell made was calculated to cast the administration in a more favorable light."

NEW YORK, May 7, 2014 — The announcement of a select committee to investigate Benghazi has liberals panicked. The walls are closing in as the truth slowly comes out. Top Obama assistant Ben Rhodes was recently caught advising Democrats on how to blame Benghazi on an internet video rather than a policy failure. Covering President Obama’s hindquarters weeks before his reelection took precedence over the truth. With dogged prosecutor Congressman Trey Gowdy leading the select committee, Democrats are expected to get meaner, nastier and more defiant in an attempt to discredit the committee and save Obama and Hillary Clinton. The...

Capitol Hill police are investigating emailed threats to Rep. Trey Gowdy, the South Carolina congressman tabbed to head a special panel to probe the White House’s response to the Benghazi terrorist attacks. Politico reporters and journalists at other news outlets say they’ve received at least two emails that threaten harm to Mr. Gowdy due directly to his leading role on the panel. Capitol Police refused to comment on the actual threats, except to say that “an active, open investigation” has been launched, Politico reported.

With Lois Lerner facing a contempt of Congress vote Wednesday, and coming up on the one-year anniversary of the IRS conservative-targeting scandal (this Saturday all cocktails consumed in America will be a tax write-off, The Daily Caller has decided), it’s time to take a look at the pro-IRS case. What have we found? There isn’t one. Every defense put forth by the Obama administration and its allies in the Democratic Party and the media has now been disproved and discredited. No, we’re not talking about Jay Carney’s “fake scandal” line or Obama’s “not even a smidgen of corruption” talking points....

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) has unveiled the latest desperation tactic of the Democrats as the Benghazi scandal cover-up comes into clearer focus. Interviewed on Fox News Sunday, he suggested that Democrats should boycott the Select Committee hearings under Rep. Trey Gowdy’s chairmanship. Fox News: The call for a boycott was made earlier by Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., during an interview on "Fox News Sunday." He was responding to House Speaker John Boehner's announcement Friday that the House would vote on a select committee to investigate Benghazi. The congressman said Democrats should not give the select committee more "credibility" by joining,...

  • Donald Sterling Reportedly Will Sue NBA If Forced to Sell Clippers

Like with any other situation that has arisen over the past several decades, Donald Sterling plans to do everything he can to keep his team. After having the hammer slammed on him Tuesday, the current Los Angeles Clippers owner is set to fight the judgement from Adam Silver. The penalties handed down included Sterling receiving a lifetime ban from the NBA and being fined $2.5 million, and Silver said he will try to force the controversial owner to sell his franchise. Sterling plans to sue the NBA if the owners do ultimately vote to force him to sell the Clippers,...

While Silver said he had not polled the owners, he expressed confidence there will be sufficient support to oust Sterlin. Silver's bold prediction suggests he has the necessary votes. That said, expect there to be some debate among owners. No owner will defend Sterling's racism... 1. Neither the Clippers nor Sterling is in financial trouble. Article 13 was designed as an extraordinary remedy for such a problem -- not other problems. While sponsors have dropped their deals with the Clippers and players have contemplated boycotts, the team appears to be in strong financial shape with a deep-pocketed, if reviled, owner....
  • Poll: Even as Obama’s Approval Recovers, Democrats Are Doomed

The NBC/WSJ poll is the first in a little while that's found any glimmer of optimism for the Obama administration. Unlike this week's Washington Post poll, it finds a marginal improvement in the president's approval rating (to 44 percent) and slightly less anger at the ACA (down to 46 percent disapproval). But like every poll, it finds the largely white, somewhat older Republican vote far more likely to turn out this year. Among all voters, there's a 45/45 split on which party is preferred to win the election. Among likely voters, there's a 53–38 advantage for the Republicans. It gets...

First lady Michelle Obama announced Wednesday the launch of a nationwide philanthropic effort to raise millions of dollars to help military families receive the support they need. Under the Philanthropy-Joining Forces Impact Pledge, more than 30 organizations are promising to raise $102 million for military families to help with things such as improving schools on military bases and helping families transition when a service member returns home. This is in addition to $62 million in commitments that exist. "Right now we are in a pivotal moment for our military families and our country," Obama said at an event at the...

President Obama may have represented Illinois in the Senate and he may consider Chicago his hometown, but some Illinois lawmakers still worry that the Obama Foundation, led by a Chicago friend of the president, might choose another state for Obama's presidential library. Perhaps Hawaii, where he grew up, or New York, where he went to college. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, the president's former chief of staff, said the best way to secure the library is to make a big down payment. "We're going to remind him oh-so-subtly this is where his wife and family are from, this is where his...

(CNN) -- A key part of the Obama administration's green policies received surprisingly strong Supreme Court support on Tuesday over efforts to curb air pollution. A 6-2 majority of justices issued a decision upholding federal agency rules to control coal-fired power plant emissions from 28 states. Obama takes on coal industry It was a rare environmental victory in a conservative majority court that has in recent years generally sided against the federal government's nationwide clean air policies. The issue was complex -- whether an "upwind" state that is polluting a "downwind" state is free of any obligations under the so-called...

Have we gone stark raving mad? The question is brought to mind by the gun law signed last week in Georgia by Gov. Nathan Deal. You might have thought that since the United States couldn’t possibly have more permissive firearms laws than it does now, nothing more could be done to coddle the gun lobby and tip the balance of our statutes away from law enforcement. Alas, you would be wrong. -snip- Oh yes, and while conservatives claim to hate the centralization of power, this law wipes out a series of local gun regulations. The gun supremacists just don’t trust...

Elkhart County Sheriff Brad Rogers is standing firm in his decision to travel last week to the Nevada ranch of Cliven Bundy, site of a showdown between the federal government and critics of federal overreach. He dubbed the effort a "peacekeeping mission," responding in a Facebook post Sunday to a critical Goshen News editorial. "The knowledge and experience I gained from this trip is going to serve Elkhart County in the near future when something occurs here," he wrote in the post. "I was also there on a peacekeeping mission to keep people from getting killed, on my own time!"...

John A. Boehner apologized in a closed-door meeting with Republicans Tuesday morning for comments over the recess that some in the GOP Conference perceived as mocking opponents of comprehensive immigration overhaul — and the speaker reassured lawmakers there is no conspiracy to bring up such a bill over their objections. Boehner said he meant to make a joke, but not at his members’ expense, when he flippantly noted at a Rotary Club meeting in his district last week that some Republicans are reluctant to consider an immigration rewrite. At a press conference after the meeting, Boehner told reporters the same...

National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre, now speaking to the NRA Annual Meeting’s Leadership Forum, held at the Lucas Oil Stadium: “One hundred million gun owners will not back down, not now, not ever. Freedom has never needed our defense more than now.” “The core values that we believe in the things we care about most are changing and eroding: our right to speak, our right to gather, our right to work, our right to practice our religion and raise our family and protect them they see fit. If I suddenly told you I was hiring Johnny Cochran to be my attorney, you’d think – well, first of all, you’d think it was peculiar, since Johnny Cochran is dead. Maybe I’m looking to save some money. But, assuming I mean the metaphorical Johnny Cochran, you’d be pretty sure I’m in some kind of really serious trouble. Or if your wife mentioned she had hired a lawyer, and you found out the attorney specializes in . . . divorce. You’d probably start checking some apartment listings. Which brings us to the strange case of President Obama’s decision to hire...

LAS VEGAS (KSNV MyNews3.com) — Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., called for Congressional hearings into the BLM’s stand-off with cattle rancher Cliven Bundy. Heller requested the hearings during a joint appearance today with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., on the KSNV-TV News 3 program “What’s Your Point?” Nevada’s junior senator noted that he wants to determine “who drove” BLM policy into the tense standoff that ended Saturday. Heller said that he took issue with the BLM “coming in with a paramilitary army. It made a lot of people very uncomfortable.” “It’s obvious,” Reid noted, “the federal government can’t just walk...

Employees of U.S. intelligence agencies have been barred from discussing without authorization any intelligence-related matter - even if it isn’t classified - with journalists, under a new directive issued by Director of National Security James Clapper. Intelligence agency employees who violate the policy could suffer career-ending losses of their security clearances or out-right termination, and those who disclose classified information could face criminal prosecution, according to the directive signed by Clapper on March 20. Under the order, only the director or deputy head of an intelligence agency, public affairs officials and those authorized by a public affairs official may have...
