But in most cases we died long before degenerative disease presented ! Moreover, we lacked the means to prolong the lives of the afflicted for as long as is now possible.

In every instance there’s always cost/benefit ratio to be computed. Denying prolongation of respiration hasn’t a “cost” is pissing to windward with the expectation those to leeward will agree with the results ! >PS

Mostly because the OA doesn’t want to “turn over this rock” and reveal the worms under it ! IOW, the “decline” stems primarily from those that have exhausted their benefits, (hence conveniently “removing them from the roles”) or have otherwise “given up” on their job searches that make up the bulk of “reports” sent up the chain. All it takes is a nameless clerk’s notation, after all...... >PS

The “New” Holder DOJ has already proclaimed its opinion “voting fraud” is a minor problem. Its also iterated its intransigence in opposition to any attempts to investigate any presenting evidence of “voting registration issues”, as well ! IOW, not only won’t the OA investigate cases of voter intimidation, but won’t investigate cases instances of “phoney registration” as well !

Or is just possible, “Sheriff Joe”’s establishment has been too successful ?

Recall BATF Voth’s missive to his agents “you can always find work in the AZ Sheriff’s Department for “$30K/yr. “

One has to wonder why Napolitano is headhunting Mr. Arpaio’s band of “low-buck” deputies” that apparently are doing far better work than her 5/6 digit staff ! Not for a moment do I believe the “Civil Rights Violation” accusation orginating from Napolitano’s office ! IOW, “how does a criminal alien - and possible terrorist - suddenly become imbued with “civil rights” ? >PS

    Here’s another side......

My MIL, a serious student of English History and literature, and former bank president, is now little more than a child in her dotage. Witnessing the agony of her daughters trying to cope with her declining mental/physical state is trying, to say the least !

How do you comfort a wife whose mother is little more than an infant ? A mother whose greatest pride was her mind, ( and her greatest fear was its loss) ?

And I’m facing the same issues myself, it seems !

So who “determines dignity” ? For my MIL, it seems it devolves upon her daughters. I can only be supportive. In my case, I’ve already made certain determinations based upon defined presenting conditions.

At some point we all must ask ourselves how much moral/ethical/legal burden are we willing to place upon our wives/husbands/children in these “end of life” decisions ?

There’s never been any doubt regarding President Obama’s “anti-gun”, agenda or history. He served on the board of the Joyce Foundation; a most virulent anti-personal arms organization. Its apparent he regards his “oath of office” as segmented and subject intrepretation and/or his ignoring inconvenient aspects.

Hence, there’s “no doubt” in my mind the OA took advantage of an established, ( but terminated as “ineffective” by no less than Phoenix BATF SAC Newell ), Bush era sting op. It saw this program as the means to support the President’s, (hasty and inaccurate) “90% claim” circa Feb. 2009. And, as subsequent events have revealed, multiple levels of AFT, (and others in DOJ) used the “discoveries” of this program as justification for “Demand Letter Three” ! >PS

    Well that’s a relief, POF !!

Oxygen deprivation is insideous in its effects. Strangely, in its early stages it can cause an euphoria akin to a couple of strong shots of alcohol. And, like alcohol, everyone’s response differs, even individually on a daily basis !

I know the USAF (and other military orgs as well) spend a good deal of effort/funds in making crew aware of these limitations. But what does that lone jock do when both his machine and its ergonomics betray them ? >PS

When it looks bad for the designers/test/evaluation group, blame the dead pilot !

Seems obvious the pilot was “mousetrapped” by a series of design flaws creating a hypoxic state was unable to overcome. No, you don’t have to “lose consciousness” to become “incompaciated”; particularly if oxygen deprivation occurs slowly over time.

Like WJC’s debate over the definition of “is” and, more recently, Holder’s over “intent”, “voting fraud” is in the eye of the beholder ! If you confine the definition to “identify misrepresentation at the polls” I suspect “voting fraud” is probably not significant. But, if you include, (what ACORN, the Dems and other leftist pressure groups don’t wan’t), tens of thousands of phoney registrations that will “pass muster at polling places, but are false to fact in their registery, then “voting fraud” becomes a fact !

IOW the trolls struck at the weak link in the system; voter registration ! So long as the name appears on the “voters list” poll workers can’t object to the voter. But what if that list is bogus ? And that’s precisely where ACORN and other socialist groups have struck their iron ! Like Ahab, they’ve plunged their iron to the heart of the whale in hopes of reaping a rich harvest ! >PS

DT racing is only one of a great many business/sports that would have been effected ! A lot of “small businesses” (and that’s most farmers, BTW), even rural municipalities with dirt roads would have been impacted. Hosts of other small businesses from landscapers, to small surface mines, to sawyards come readily to mind.

Worse, implementation of this measure could/would have been erratic being determined solely at the discretion of the EPA - or rather - its Director ! And that, I suspect, is the reason there was so much bi-partisan support !

Electees on both sides of the aisle are well aware of the Obama Administration’s record for appointing radicals, former terrorists, criminals, even avowed anti-american socialists to regulatory positions of power whence they’ve created economic chaos. One, Cass Sunstein, is a ticking bomb that, while presently out of the limelight, is working “under the radar” on a number of economic and social issues important to our society. >PS

Tomorrow’s HCOGR hearings ought to prove interesting !

While AG Holder’s, (and the Obama Administration et al), contempt for our laws - except when they can advantageously manipulate them - has been well-documented, its largely been a fantasy to those getting their “news” from the lamestream media. Perhaps the next round of hearings will force the “majors” to taking at least cursory notice. >PS

STwo aspects of the governments’ “statistics” are they don’t account for those that have abandonded job searching. And none of the “stats” they publish seem to have a line for new job seekers. ( IOW where’s the “accounting” for new “job seekers” trying to introduce themselves into the marketplace ? ) Every administration has “played the numbers game with the unemployed. But a very real emerging “stat” is a lot of “skilled jobs” are going begging for lack of qualified applicants ! A “factor” the current administration seems content to ignore ! PS

Anyone that’s takes basic flight training learn two memonics to account for this: “True Virgins Make Dull Company” and “East is least/West is best” to account for “variation” when plotting a Dead Reckoning course. Do student pilots even learn these anymore ?

What its reminding is there is a difference between true north and magnetic north. All aerial maps give that information in the form of “zones”. I know that “magN” has been moving a lot in my lifetime, and the story confirms its been moving more rapidly of late. Almost every airport of any size has - or had, IME - a “compass rose” to enable pilots to “swing” their magnetic compasses and adjust them for accuracy.

IAC, there’s a lot of cyclical events Gia experiences. Not all of them are pleasant, or transparent to modern technology, I suspect. Certainly the earth’s magnetosphere is important to our existence as its our shield against solar wind effects. Loss - even temporary - would no doubt prove lethal to civilization, if not mankind ! >PS
