Just to make sure the right people are being criticized - it’s not the RNC that was shooting her down, it was the NRSC. Michael Steele has enough of his own problems. This one was all John Cornyn.

No we would not be better with RINOs than Democrats - because these same Republican leaders are the ones that pretty much primed the pumps for the current Dems to empty America’s future. We need to get our house in order, elect consistent conservatives and counter the indoctrination.

You are foolish if you think the majority of those GOP’ers who will take over those committee chairs will snap out of their beltway brainwashing. They’ll just go about business as usual, give lip service and hope the electorate calms down by the next election.

If we do not get the GOP steered correctly and they DO take power and screw it up by doing nothing (as they surely will) than that does it for conservatism for at least a generation.

For all the talk of failure - Obama has been a VERY successful president in getting almost everything he wanted accomplished in two years. Sure it will likely cost him his Congressional lapdog and reelection, but he has changed the game.

We need our own game-changers and Castle, McConnell, Alexander, Ensign and Cornyn, etc. are status quo candidates.

It doesn’t make sense if you have blinders on...

Which one is more important for the GOP?

    1) Someone who will almost definitely win the seat - and when he does maintain his leadership position in the Senate.

    2) Someone who might be vulnerable in the general election - and even if they are elected would be at the bottom of the ranking totem pole.

See, it has very little to do with philosophy. It has all to do with party. It’s little things like this that created the fertile ground for the tea party to grow.

Plus it’s not like McCain is like the typical NE Republican. There are some things he is actually conservative on... basically things that don’t involve the Constitution.

As far as Palin goes, she is very conservative on most things, but she has come out herself and said she is a Republican and wants the Tea Party (conservatives) to come to the GOP. If McCain wins the primary, this position will have won in Arizona.

If Hayworth wins, and especially if he wins the regular election in November, then it will be up to the GOP to come to the conservatives.

Right now, the conservative movement has the attention of the political parties. However, they know from past experience that time is on their side. Citizen movements have limits, because citizens have lives and jobs and families that will eventually cut into their fervor. For politicians, this is their job.

If this truly is a movement for the ages - like the 1770s, and 1850s - then it is important for the movement to stand by its principles, even in the face of defeat.

Now, does that make any better sense?

Another funny thing - the coach that was just hired to save their bacon is an American-Iranian out of UCLA - Afshin Ghotbi.

Many soccer journos believe he was hired because the federation didn’t think the team would make it, and they could blame the failure on the American.

However, after winning the club championship with Persepolis - Ghotbi’s first two games with the national team were a road draw and a home win - meaning a win in their last game and they are either in the WC or at least still alive in the Asia playoff.

One BIG reason Santorum lost is the same reason the GOP is in big trouble.

He turned his back on his beliefs and supporters by throwing Toomey down the well last time and supporting Specter.

Partly 11th commandment stuff, and partly hoping Specter would return the favor two years later. Guess what didn’t happen...

Conservatives are tired of being taken for granted and either the GOP will change its ways or go the way of the Whigs with a new conservative movement taking its place.

So you’re saying you’re as bad as the leftists you complainted about?

    Hmmm.

What Glenn’s point is - the Constitution sets up the process of determining the president. When the process is finished, the winner is the president.

We lost. Face it. Learn from it. Let’s have some real change now.

Let’s make sure that our ideas are taught in school, and elsewhere. And just as importantly, let’s make sure the RINOs don’t set up a similar primary calendar and rules next time out - no cross-over/open primaries and primaries in liberal states before true red states have a say - otherwise the conservatives will never have a chance.

Our problem in this campaign was more the flawed candidate at the top of our ticket rather than 0-bama. If we had put forth someone who spoke as strongly about conservative ideals like Reagan did during Goldwater’s campaign - we would have mopped the floor with Obama even if he raised a billion dollars.

The longer we bitch and moan about how he’s not OUR president, the more damage we do to our credibility - and the less time we focus on strengthening our position.

Because now she can speak for herself without the limits imposed by the McCain ‘doctrine’ and without the hindrances of ‘aides’ supplied by the Bush and Romney camps.
I’ve followed Palin’s career for close to four years since she challenged the heirarchy in Alaska.
She is the real deal. I believe the results would have been much, much worse if she was not selected. You need to excite your base at the outset and there is no one else on the national stage who can do it as well as she can.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I’ve been following her career since she took on the corrupt establishment in Alaska three years ago. If McCain didn’t pick someone with her abilities, and credientials (basically her or Bobby Jindal or maybe Rick Santorum) there was NO WAY I was going to waste my vote on him.

Here’s the total (unabridged, unlike the Gibson interview) SPJ Code of Ethics - which ABC, and much of the MSM are violating every day...

    Preamble
Members of the Society of Professional Journalists believe that public enlightenment is the forerunner of justice and the foundation of democracy. The duty of the journalist is to further those ends by seeking truth and providing a fair and comprehensive account of events and issues. Conscientious journalists from all media and specialties strive to serve the public with thoroughness and honesty. Professional integrity is the cornerstone of a journalist’s credibility. Members of the Society share a dedication to ethical behavior and adopt this code to declare the Society’s principles and standards of practice.

    Seek Truth and Report It
Journalists should be honest, fair and courageous in gathering, reporting and interpreting information.

    Journalists should:

    — Test the accuracy of information from all sources and exercise care to avoid inadvertent error. Deliberate distortion is never permissible.
    — Diligently seek out subjects of news stories to give them the opportunity to respond to allegations of wrongdoing.
    — Identify sources whenever feasible. The public is entitled to as much information as possible on sources’ reliability.
    — Always question sources’ motives before promising anonymity. Clarify conditions attached to any promise made in exchange for information. Keep promises.
    — Make certain that headlines, news teases and promotional material, photos, video, audio, graphics, sound bites and quotations do not misrepresent. They should not oversimplify or highlight incidents out of context.
    — Never distort the content of news photos or video. Image enhancement for technical clarity is always permissible. Label montages and photo illustrations.
    — Avoid misleading re-enactments or staged news events. If re-enactment is necessary to tell a story, label it.
    — Avoid undercover or other surreptitious methods of gathering information except when traditional open methods will not yield information vital to the public. Use of such methods should be explained as part of the story
    — Never plagiarize.
    — Tell the story of the diversity and magnitude of the human experience boldly, even when it is unpopular to do so.
    — Examine their own cultural values and avoid imposing those values on others.
    — Avoid stereotyping by race, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, geography, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance or social status.
    — Support the open exchange of views, even views they find repugnant.
    — Give voice to the voiceless; official and unofficial sources of information can be equally valid.
    — Distinguish between advocacy and news reporting. Analysis and commentary should be labeled and not misrepresent fact or context.
    — Distinguish news from advertising and shun hybrids that blur the lines between the two.
    — Recognize a special obligation to ensure that the public’s business is conducted in the open and that government records are open to inspection.

    Minimize Harm
Ethical journalists treat sources, subjects and colleagues as human beings deserving of respect.

    Journalists should:

    — Show compassion for those who may be affected adversely by news coverage. Use special sensitivity when dealing with children and inexperienced sources or subjects.
    — Be sensitive when seeking or using interviews or photographs of those affected by tragedy or grief.
    — Recognize that gathering and reporting information may cause harm or discomfort. Pursuit of the news is not a license for arrogance.
    — Recognize that private people have a greater right to control information about themselves than do public officials and others who seek power, influence or attention. Only an overriding public need can justify intrusion into anyone’s privacy.
    — Show good taste. Avoid pandering to lurid curiosity.
    — Be cautious about identifying juvenile suspects or victims of sex crimes.
    — Be judicious about naming criminal suspects before the formal filing of charges.
    — Balance a criminal suspect’s fair trial rights with the public’s right to be informed.

    Act Independently
Journalists should be free of obligation to any interest other than the public’s right to know.

    Journalists should:

—Avoid conflicts of interest, real or perceived.
    — Remain free of associations and activities that may compromise integrity or damage credibility.
    — Refuse gifts, favors, fees, free travel and special treatment, and shun secondary employment, political involvement, public office and service in community organizations if they compromise journalistic integrity.
    — Disclose unavoidable conflicts.
    — Be vigilant and courageous about holding those with power accountable.
    — Deny favored treatment to advertisers and special interests and resist their pressure to influence news coverage.
    — Be wary of sources offering information for favors or money; avoid bidding for news.

    Be Accountable
Journalists are accountable to their readers, listeners, viewers and each other.

    Journalists should:

    — Clarify and explain news coverage and invite dialogue with the public over journalistic conduct.
    — Encourage the public to voice grievances against the news media.
    — Admit mistakes and correct them promptly.
    — Expose unethical practices of journalists and the news media.
    — Abide by the same high standards to which they hold others.

The SPJ Code of Ethics is voluntarily embraced by thousands of
writers, editors and other news professionals. The present version of
the code was adopted by the 1996 SPJ National Convention, after months
of study and debate among the Society’s members.

Sigma Delta Chi’s first Code of Ethics was borrowed from the
American Society of Newspaper Editors in 1926. In 1973, Sigma Delta Chi
wrote its own code, which was revised in 1984, 1987 and 1996.

Don’t know if this is a planted question or not... but why are you asking people here what YOU should think? Isn’t that up to you?
Group-think stinks on either side. I would imagine that Christians have a similar background (as do freepers) and that that similar background can lead to many of us having similar positions.
Informing yourself can modify that position, but “what if it was Chelsea?”, is something you have to look in your head and heart to find how you would feel, not on a message board.
