  • Do You Have to Try Every Stupid Thing You Think Of? (Islam, First Amendment)

Allowing the federal government broad authority to declare professed religions as ‘not actually religions’ is about the stupidest way I can think of to handle Islam.

I think (correct me if I’m wrong) that the people behind Gates of Vienna are Europeans. If they were more familiar with our government, the steady erosion of constitutional rights via judicial activism and the hostility of the elites to the Christian faith, they’d know that 99 times out of 100, any such power would be used against Christians, not Muslims.

The Constitution is in a sorry state as it is. Conservatism is about shoring up what’s left of it, maybe restoring it as far as we can to its original state (hope springs eternal). I leave poking holes in the Constitution to expand state power to the other side.

Even the supposedly-not-liberal Globe is calling semiautomatic rifles “assault rifles.”

The libs know the way you win battle for minds is by winning the battle for language, e.g. “reproductive rights,” “undocumented immigrants,” “homophobia/transphobia/Islamophobia,” et cetera.

A non-Christian liberal writing about evangelical Christians is completely clueless? Color me surprised.

I guess they think if they keep shouting “Trump is racist!” over and over again, people will believe it, even though Trump’s policies would objectively benefit minorities. And the unfortunate thing is, they may be right. Since the left has a near-monopoly on media talking heads all singing the same tune.

That said, taking her straw man at face value, murdering babies is indeed worse than having impolite opinions. But I doubt she’d agree.

It’s refreshing of liberals to admit that illegals will be voting in the election.

Bad idea. The debate was a brilliant move by Trump: pump up Sanders (imagine if Hillary actually lost California) and get Sanders supporters—and potential crossover voters—to listen to what he has to say.

Whoever in the campaign suggested that Trump back out of the debate gave him some poor advice.

Well said. The media perverts have been playing the long game on this one.

First they normalized homosexuality. Now they’re working on transsexualism, which opens the door to pedophilia, i.e. who are we to say that 7 year-old Johnny shouldn’t start on hormones? Didn’t he pick up that doll that his mother gave him?

Although I think they went a little too far too quickly when mainstream liberal rag Salon published this child-molesters-are-normal-people piece last year:

Don’t have to tell people here that these polls are more about pushing the (leftie) narrative than accurately reflecting reality. And since the Trump Is A Joke narrative failed, we’ve moved on to Trump Is Fading.

But if failed neoliberal businesswoman Fiorina is the best they can do, the ‘mainstream’ globalist/open borders crowd is in trouble.

So Putin responds to the establishment of a hostile revolutionary government on his border, in a country that hosts much of his nation’s navy, and now he’s Hitler?

Reckon he’d be perfectly happy with the status quo ante, i.e. the reestablishment of the lawful government of Ukraine and the early elections called by Yanukovych. That wasn’t good enough for the revolutionaries, since they know they couldn’t win a legal election.

If something like this happened on our border, I’d hope that the president—although probably not this president—would crush it posthaste. That’s why the Monroe Doctrine was formulated and applied, since from the Fathers on down, we’ve recognized the danger of letting an unfriendly regime get a foothold anywhere near the US.

The liberals often roll out the opinions of squish Republicans when they agree with whatever position they’re taking at the moment. Hardly surprising.

Russia is not our friend. Sometimes they’re an annoyance. But they’re hardly a threat to the safety and well-being of this country. And they did both us and Israel a solid (albeit for their own reasons) by derailing Obama’s insane plan to set up an al-Qaeda controlled government in Syria.

If muttonhead Romney was on the same side as Obama on that issue, that speaks against him, not Russia.

‘The reality for [Britain] is that the [USSR] is in fact the dominant power in Europe. The United States must decide if it wishes to continue its political and military involvement in the area. Both are risky and expensive. Americans must consider just how those costly commitments will benefit the United States. Eventually the [Europeans] will have to achieve a consensus for themselves as they had been doing it for thousands of years.’

Thank God your father’s generation didn’t think like this. Not that there weren’t shills back then—from paid agents to useful idiots—preaching the cost of defense and the benevolence of the Soviet order. But they got short shrift. Men still remembered the lessons of the Second World War: that projecting weakness invites aggression, and threats to democracy must be nipped in the bud before they spiral out of control. As a result, we managed to keep half of Europe out from under the boot of the tyrant, and grind the Soviets down until Reagan administered the coup de grace.

Even the feckless Obama seems to have realized, in his half-hearted and faltering way, that we might as well pack it up if we allow China—a China with no power progression of any consequence—to bully our Asian allies. And since that country is run by bean-counters, albeit patient ones, they’ll back down. For now.

If the Soviets or Nazi Germany could have produced low-end products for us at bargain basement prices, at the small cost of our consumer manufacturing base, should we have taken the deal?

China has had the great good fortune to come up against a United States run by morons who are paid to believe in China’s pacific intentions. To me, there’s no greater evidence of the foreign policy weakness of the Obama administration than that the PRC no longer cares if its mask
slips. Sure, they want “reunification” with (conquest of) Taiwan. Sure, they want to assert bogus claims that allow them control over resource-rich areas contested by Japan, South Korea, Vietnam and the Philippines. Sure, they can’t achieve these things without an American sellout of our democratic partners in Asia. But what are we going to do about it?

Probably nothing. After all, we need their garbage. Better hope the PRC turns into the big cuddly Switzerland of the East sometime pretty soon. Except that ‘pretty soon’ has been coming for at least 25 years now, or so politicians on both sides of the aisle tell me, and all I see is a China growing stronger and more aggressive. If contrary to all expectations it doesn’t happen, and China makes a move for Asian hegemony instead, I guess you could say they screwed up.

But at least we got some cheap TVs.
