A viral clip of an interview with President Joe Biden’s economic adviser Jared Bernstein shows the official struggling to explain why the U.S. government chooses to borrow money when it can just print more. "The government definitely prints money, and it definitely lends that money … by selling bonds. Is that what they do? They sell bonds, yeah, they sell bonds. Right? Since they sell bonds, and people buy the bonds and lend them the money," Bernstein, chair of the Council of Economic Advisers, said when asked why the federal government borrows currency it can print. "I guess I’m just,...

"More than half of the Republican conference voted against GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson's omnibus funding bill, rebuking the leader's efforts to avoid a shutdown ahead of Friday's deadline. The House voted on the spending package brokered by Johnson on Friday, passing the bill by a vote of 286 to 134. The bill needed 280 votes to pass. But while the legislation garnered enough bipartisan support to push it to the Senate, 112 House Republicans and 22 House Democrats voted against it. Only 101 members of Johnson's party voted in favor of the package. "

"Fired CNN talking head Brian Stelter landed a fellowship at Harvard, the former host of the since-canceled “Reliable Sources” said Monday. Stelter broke the news on social media that he’ll be joining the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard’s Kennedy School this fall. “Personal news: I’m joining the @ShorensteinCtr at Harvard Kennedy School,” Stelter tweeted. “This fall I’ll be the Walter Shorenstein Media and Democracy Fellow, convening discussions, some of which will be live-streamed. Grateful to @nancygibbs and her team for the home!” According to Harvard, Stelter “will convene a series of discussions about threats to...

After attracting everyone's attention with a $44 billion Twitter deal and a dramatic entrance with a sink in the offices of the micro blogging platform, Elon Musk has again stirred a new conversation with a screenshot of an e-mail asking him to take a course to manage Twitter
-
The billionaire’s plans, which were reported in The Washington Post last week, would account for 5,500 of the 7,500-strong workforce. Mr Musk previously described Twitter’s workforce as bloated, saying it had a “strong, left-wing bias”. Before the deadline to agree on a deal on Friday, October 28 , TIME reports that it has seen a draft of an open letter that Twitter employees plan to circulate. The employees demand that Mr Musk commits to preserving the company’s existing workforce. They argue that he should not discriminate against employees based on their political beliefs. There are also demands that the potential...

Montana leads the nation in gun ownership, a new study by the personal finance website WalletHub found. Montana's gun ownership rate is 65%, and the state also ranks fifth in the study for its "dependency on the gun industry," which the website measured using three dimensions (firearms industry, gun prevalence and gun politics) and 16 metrics. Gary Marbut, president of the Montana Shooting Sports Association, is not surprised by the state's ranking, he told The Center Square. The group estimates that 90%-95% of the homes in Montana contain firearms, Marbut said, with hunting being one reason for that high percentage....

"The election in 2020 was rigged and stolen," Perdue asserted at a recent debate. Perdue's former Senate GOP colleagues, however, are less than impressed. "It's absurd," said Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah, when asked about the remarks of Perdue, his former colleague. "I think the effort to try and overturn an election when there is, at this stage, no evidence of widespread fraud is detrimental to democracy and insulting to the American public." "Hell yes," one of Perdue's closest Senate friends told CNN when asked if he was surprised by his ex-colleague's campaign transformation. "I don't know whether he believes...

BALTIMORE — The Ever Forward returned Friday to the Seagirt Marine Terminal in Baltimore to pick up its containers. The ship ran aground on March 13 in the Chesapeake Bay after leaving Baltimore. The 1,095-foot vessel, which could fit three football fields end to end, did not move for 35 days. A couple of attempts in March failed to free the ship. Crews tried dredging and push/pull tugboat operations. Then, from April 9-16, hundreds of containers were off-loaded from the stuck ship so crews could try for a third time to refloat it, the Coast Guard said. Crews then refloated...

Lansing — The Michigan Court of Appeals rejected Thursday a lawsuit led by Republican attorney general hopeful Matt DePerno that attempted to challenge the 2020 election results in Antrim County. In a 3-0 ruling, the court's panel of judges said the suit made no allegations to support the idea that "purported irregularities in Antrim County 'might have affected the outcome' of the presidential election." Likewise, the panel denied the argument that Antrim County resident William Bailey, DePerno's client, was entitled to an audit of the election there. "The statutory language does not allow private citizens to conduct independent audits, and...

For decades on or about April 15, I published a tax day column pointing out that working Americans in our time are as enslaved as 19th century blacks on cotton plantations. I never in 30 or more years saw any response from any economist, historian, or anyone. I think my statement was regarded as too fanciful for comment. People think of slaves as beings of highly restricted mobility who are bought and sold like commodities. In that sense, we are not slaves. But in a wider historical sense we are. A slave is a person who does not own his...

“You will own nothing, and you will be happy.” The mantra of the so-called Fourth Industrial Revolution for the globalist elites at the World Economic Forum has always been a challenging concept for most Americans to fully grasp. Our nation was built on the precepts of freedom, capitalism, and property ownership, so when the WEF’s mantra creeps into a conversation it is often met by scowls and consternation. Well, not everyone balks. Some fall in line like good little lemmings. Neo-Marxists in America adopted the WEF’s slogan faster than the Che Guevara t-shirts they used to love. Those were replaced...

Thousands of people in Canada are protesting vehemently against government orders like making vaccines mandatory and COVID restrictions. People are holding rallies and blocking roads in different cities of Canada. These demonstrations are peaceful but the number of people is so much that the police seem helpless. Police said on Saturday that some 5,000 people demonstrated in Ottawa. At the same time, hundreds of protesters gathered in Canada’s largest cities such as Toronto, Quebec City, Fredericton and Winnipeg. Speaking to Reuters news agency, protester Robert in Toronto said that we are fed up and tired of mandates, threats and living...

"Multiple reports are coming in that Joe Biden will address the nation on Tuesday to unveil another round of draconian lockdowns nationwide. The rapid spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 is the latest fearmongering tool being used to exert perpetual control over the masses. But the narrative will be a tough one to sell because the agenda to jab every man, woman, and child in the country is contradicted by Omicron’s apparent immunity against the injections. They’ll need to mix in gaslighting, fake science, and outright lies in order to deliver both sides of the message with a straight...
