WASHINGTON — Proposed legislation that would allow the government to revoke American citizenship from people suspected of allying themselves with terrorists set off a legal and political debate Thursday that scrambled some of the usual partisan lines on civil-liberties issues. The Terrorist Expatriation Act, co-sponsored by Senators Joseph I. Lieberman, independent of Connecticut, and Scott Brown, Republican of Massachusetts, would allow the State Department to revoke the citizenship of people who provide support to terrorist groups like Al Qaeda or who attack the United States or its allies.

Following the attempted car bombing outside the Viacom building at Times Square in New York City this past Saturday, some of the immediate speculation has turned to information. Much of the rest remains informed speculation but speculation nonetheless. With over 48 hours now past since the initial incident, an analysis of knowns and unknowns is warranted. It is important that the American public access and understand this information, particularly those who live and work in the New York City metro area, for 'home' remains Target New York.

new website has appeared that should earn the support of tea-party critics such as CNN's Anderson Cooper and his compatriots: CrashTheTeaParty.org. It beckons, "Let's get to work. This Tea Party isn't going to destroy itself … Or is it." But whether the website succeeds remains to be seen, because a random assortment of visitors to the new site so far haven't been enamored. "Just TRY to show up at the rallies! We've got your number. We have LOTS of security. And many veterans, Oathkeepers and other well qualified people who can spot phonies, trouble-makers, SEIU thugs – and MORONS –...

Over the past few weeks, a number of local columnists (such as my colleague, David Rosman, and the editor of the Columbia Tribune, Hank Waters) have posted columns defending or praising the administration’s decision to prosecute Khalid Sheik Mohammed and four others in a New York civilian court while trying the remaining terrorists by the military tribunal structured by Congress and the Supreme Court for that very purpose. The only area in which I find agreement is that it can be done.

Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And three of the SEALs who captured him are now facing criminal charges, sources told FoxNews.com.

FORT HOOD, Texas (Nov. 8) – A key U.S. senator said Sunday he would begin an investigation into whether the Army missed signs that the man accused of opening fire at Fort Hood had embraced an increasingly extremist view of Islamic ideology. Sen. Joe Lieberman's call for the investigation came as word surfaced that Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan apparently attended the same Virginia mosque as two Sept. 11 hijackers in 2001, at a time when a radical imam preached there. Whether Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, associated with the hijackers is something the FBI will probably look into, according to a...

OSLO (Oct. 9) -- President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples," the Norwegian Nobel Committee said, citing his outreach to the Muslim world and attempts to curb nuclear proliferation.

The left has launched a massive campaign to destroy Glenn Beck — who right now, and along with Rush, is the most eloquent, fearless and effective warrior standing between Barack Obama and a collectivist state. The politics of personal destruction is what the left does best and in many ways it is all the left does. “Purge” — as in defame and then dispose of your political enemies — is a term that leftists invented in the 1930s when Stalin staged show trials of his political enemies, defamed and demonized them, and then buried them.

While environmentalists are making claims that are threatening jobs during one of the largest recessions in recent memory, Ann and Phelim show that it's all bunk. From melting icecaps to dying polar bears, environmentalists are "emotionalizing" issues. Not Evil Just Wrong also tells viewers what the liberal U.S. media won't -- that the British High Court found nine factual errors in Gore's documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, and won't let schools show it anymore without a warning.

COLUMBIA — Dwelling, as many of us are, on the overly emotional catfight over the administration’s health care reform legislation, I find myself likening it to maintaining an automobile. Although the family car might still provide reliable transportation to and from work and to recreational activities, after periods of operation it will require certain preventive maintenance — oil changes, engine tuneups, new tires and, in some cases, a visit to a repair shop.

There is a 500 pound gorilla in the health care debate room that nobody is talking about.I defy anyone to name a single federal program that resembles its original construction, intent, cost or power. Name a single federal program that doesn’t cost more than projected, have more power than originally intended, or touch more people than originally advertised.

Call it what you will, Fort Sumter redux or Lexington and Concord, but a first shot was fired last week in St. Louis, MO at a town hall meeting on health care reform. The battle has been joined and first blood drawn by members of the open-minded, big tent, first amendment loving American leftists trying to shut down open public debate, and with that first blood, we now know what Candidate Obama meant in July, 2008 when he called for a civilian national defense force.

LEBANON, Pa. (Aug. 11) – Jeers and taunts drowned out Democrats calling for a health care overhaul at town halls Tuesday, and one lawmaker said a swastika was spray-painted at his office as debate turned to noisy confrontation over President Barack Obama's plan. The president himself was treated more respectfully. "You'll be gone, by God the bureaucrats will still be here," one man told Sen. Arlen Specter, D-Pa., at a town hall in Lebanon, Pa. "If they don't let us vent our frustrations out, they will have a revolution," Mary Ann Fieser of Hillsboro, Mo., told Sen. Claire McCaskill at...

After more than 60 years together, Jimmy Carter has announced himself at odds with the Southern Baptist Church -- and he's decided it's time they go their separate ways. Via Feministing, the former president called the decision "unavoidable" after church leaders prohibited women from being ordained and insisted women be "subservient to their husbands."

One of the things I learned a long time ago, is that I am so average that my thinking is very similar to at least 75% of the American people, regardless of political party affiliation. Let's see if that holds true in this case. If so, politicians beware!!!

Barack Obama is vowing to sign climate change legislation and overhauls in health care and financial regulations this year and is dismissing his critics as naysayers. Obama warned more than 400 of the Democratic Party's top fundraisers Monday evening that winning policy fights will become more difficult. Obama ran through a list of successful administration initiatives, including a $787 billion economic stimulus, a budget resolution, a fair-pay bill and a reversal on a ban on federal funding of stem cell research.
