Republican National Committee member Randy Evans said Wednesday that Donald Trump would likely be able to secure the Republican nomination if he captures anything more than 1,100 delegates, short of the 1,237 delegates needed for a simple majority. "If Donald Trump exceeds 1,100 votes, he will become the nominee even though he may not have 1,237," Evans said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." Evans' comment is good news for Trump if it's a sentiment shared by other RNC members, since Trump is at risk of falling short of a majority of delegates by the time of the convention in July. But...

Seen any walnuts in your medicine cabinet lately? According to the Food and Drug Administration, that is precisely where you should find them. Because Diamond Foods made truthful claims about the health benefits of consuming walnuts that the FDA didn’t approve, it sent the company a letter declaring, “Your walnut products are drugs” — and “new drugs” at that — and, therefore, “they may not legally be marketed … in the United States without an approved new drug application.” The agency even threatened Diamond with “seizure” if it failed to comply. Diamond’s transgression was to make “financial investments to educate...

Published October 18 2009 Nelson 'Modcoms' are without principle By: Ross Nelson Most Americans are bored to tears by politics. Perhaps 30 percent can be described as avid liberals or conservatives. The bulk floats along quietly with whatever direction the political stream is flowing until directly impinged upon by large tax increases, or particularly outrageous political stunts. That’s the main reason we find ourselves as a rogue superpower warring across the globe while our currency’s value implodes. Conservatism of old used to be very wary of presidents, George Washington being the exception. They were thought to be possible prototypes of...

Tue, Aug. 12, 2008 American Airlines has truth on its side, still gets beaten up By TREBOR BANSTETTER tbanstetter@star-telegram.com It sounds like another of those "greedy airline" stories that are always so popular around the water cooler: American Airlines is forcing soldiers heading to combat duty in Iraq to pay baggage fees for checking duffel bags loaded with military equipment. In a startling announcement, that process got under way Friday when Navy Adm. Tim Keating, commander of the North American Aerospace Defense Command, announced that NORAD would be moving out of the legendary headquarters that is burrowed deeply inside Cheyenne Mountain - a granite...
