Guns and Church Since I identify with the people who fall into Barrack Obama's elitist description about people of faith who keep firearms I'm not very happy with Barrack Obama's recent remarks.

While many pundits are pointing to corporate greed and a lack of government regulation as the cause for the American mortgage and financial crisis, some analysts are saying it wasn't too little government intervention that cased the mortgage meltdown, but too much, in the form of activists compelling the government to pressure Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae into unsound – though politically correct – lending practices. "Home mortgages have been a political piñata for many decades," writes Stan J. Liebowitz, economics professor at the University of Texas at Dallas,

AUSTIN, Tex. - "Aponte?" the Fort Hood soldier asked. "I'm here to pick you up." And with that, Bronx G.I. Jonathan Aponte was back in the hands of the U.S. military - his fate uncertain. On the flight back to his base yesterday, Aponte came clean, admitting he indeed hired someone to shoot him in the knee, hoping to get out of returning to Iraq. The alleged gunman, Felix Padilla, charged $500. The cost to Aponte is now much, much more. He faces charges in the Bronx and a possible court-martial at Fort Hood. He also is dealing with the...

CBS) NEW YORK The death and destruction of U.S. troops fighting in Iraq seems to have become so rampant to one local soldier that he actually staged an attack on himself -- allegedly hiring a hitman to non-fatally shoot him -- so he wouldn't be sent back for another tour of duty. Now, 20-year-old Jonathan Aponte is under fire at home in the Bronx for his decision that may send him to prison. "There are some people mentally that can handle it. There are some people who just can't. You need to know when to say enough is enough," Aponte...

WHAT IS A VET? What Is A Vet? Some veterans bear visible signs of their service: a missing limb, a jagged scar, a certain look in the eye. Except in parades, however, the men and women who have kept America safe wear no badge or emblem. You can't tell a vet just by looking. What is a vet? He is the cop on...

ATLANTA - A military rocket launcher was found Tuesday near a rail-transit station, but the FBI said it looks to be a less-powerful model commonly used to train soldiers and would be unable to bring down an aircraft or destroy a train. The M136 AT4 launcher is used by the Army to destroy light tanks. It will be examined further to be sure it is only a training model, said FBI spokesman Steve Lazarus. "If it is indeed a training device, it's something you can buy at any gun store," he said. Lazarus said there was no cause for public...
