  • Federal Challenge to Restrictive NJ Concealed Carry ‘Regulatory Scheme’

    11/03/2020 1:08:38 PM PST · 10 of 10
    MCFujiTanker to PROCON

I am a retired LEO. FYI, FLEOA is also suing NJ concerning their restrictions for retired and active LEOs. NJ has been ignoring the law for years called LEOSA. NJ doesn’t even want active or retired LEOs to conceal carry. They make it as difficult as possible.

UPDATE: FLEOA Lawsuit Against State of New Jersey over Preemption of LEOSA
    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
    October 14, 2020
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA), provided the following update regarding FLEOA’s ongoing lawsuit against the State of New Jersey regarding their preemption of federal LEOSA law:

On October 13th, 2020, the Attorney General for New Jersey sent a letter (attached) to the federal court requesting that the court dismiss their previously filed Motion to Dismiss our LEOSA lawsuit. In their Motion to Dismiss filing, New Jersey asserted a position and arguments that were incongruous with the lawsuit.

FLEOA and the NJ FOP initially replied to the New Jersey Motion to Dismiss (attached) and argued that the grounds New Jersey requested a dismissal on were incoherent to the original issues the lawsuit was filed under - that the federal LEOSA statute pre-empted federal law and if a law enforcement officer meets the qualification criteria outlined in the statute, no state could bar that right including the use of hollow point ammunition.

On October 8th, 2020, as reported last week, the Department of Justice weighed in with a Statement of Interest (attached) in support of our and the NJ FOP position in the lawsuit.

These developments are positive and show that FLEOA’s arguments against New Jersey’s application of LEOSA have merit.

Stay tuned to more developments as we continue to work through the federal court to ensure law enforcement LEOSA rights are protected.

Because I was military and overseas a lot, I was used to voting absentee. I returned to my hometown in Jersey for a few years after retirement from the USMC, voting was easy, I would drive my elderly Mom to my old elementary school to vote with me. Last year I moved to Florida, Hillsborough County. It was so easy to vote by mail in the Primary, I decided to do the same for the General, plus my wife is still working. Boy, am I glad I did. The ballot was huge, with 13 referendums. The local paper here is an echo chamber of the national MSM, they are no help at all, it’s safer just to vote contrary to what they recommend. That said, when I received the ballots in the mail, the top races were easy. It took research on the internet to find out which judges were worth voting for. 2 ballots sent in Friday. With all those questions on the ballot, the lines will swell when people take the time to read them. Hopefully that will make non serious voters like D-Rats turn around and go home.

  • “Why Japan has so many vending machines” video makes some good points, but misses key factors

From 1977 - 2007 I lived in Japan 17 years. Vending machines were really convenient. In Yokohama I asked a Japanese cop once if they had problems with underage kids using the beer, whiskey and sake vending machines. His reply was “no, because it’s illegal”, boy was he naive. I’ve spent a lot of time in the PI, Thailand and Korea too. None of them had the proliferation of vending machines like Japan. The last time I was in Japan was 2012. My 3 favorite vending machine drinks from 1977 were hard to find by then, Georgia Coffee (it used to be just about the only canned coffee you could find besides UCC), Fujiya mixed fruit nectar and Hi C green apple drink. I live in Jersey now, lucky for me there is a Mitsuwa nearby! http://www.mitsuwa.com/locations/edgewater/

Your handle intrigued me, so I logged in just to answer you. I usually just stop by to read the news and don’t log in much anymore. I grew up in the 1960s in North Jersey and found myself always listening to Shepherd on WOR at night. I went to college in Louisville 1972, but I could usually pull in the WOR signal and listen to Shepherd there too. Over the years I collected many of the Playboy magazines that featured his short stories. That said, my daughter went to Evergreen 2001-2005. When she told me that’s where she wanted to go in 2000, I had never heard of it, so she said “it’s where Matt Groening went to college”. We were living overseas at the time, I was working for the DON. I sent her the first article about Weinstein, she thought the students were “outlandish”, but she’s a Marine kid and behaved herself there. I still owe $31K to Sallie Mae for her pleasure, the place was not cheap for an out of state student. I was deployed when she graduated, so I didn’t get to see the place until 2010, a nice campus and Olympia seemed like a decent college town. What’s going on there now is out of control. What’s changed? When I got to Louisville in 1972, “Colors” were performed by the campus police, because the Navy and Air Force ROTC students were attacked by Vietnam War protesters. There will always be jerk offs in the world.

Naval Criminal Investigative Service, started out as ONI, then NIS, mostly civilian, investigates felony crime in the USN/USMC. The Army has CID, the Air Force OSI and the Coast Guard CGIS. There are 3 TV shows about NCIS now. Not sure what the Navy connection is to Moochelle.

I met CUCCINELLI the week before the election, he was doing a meet and greet at the Burke VRE station at 0515 in the A.M. I was out of town on the Saturday he had his NRA rally to attend my 35th HS reunion, but I was up early at Bonnie Brae to cast my vote for him on Tuesday. I just transferred back to VA after being overseas for 7 years. At my kids’ back to school night, you had to listen to school board members’ videos. His opponent’s video was abysmal....how did she ever become a teacher? I think his vote will hold, except for some absentee ballots, Fairfax County is all electronic. Semper Fidelis.

I won't fall for this trap, I mailed my ballot in to Virginia a month a go!! The day I received the ballot, another mailing from the local dims came too, with the exact same address, down to the punctuation. They must have a mole working in Fairfax County, unless it's public info? I haven't received any mailings from the GOP. Hopefully, since I'm already a known contributor, they decided to save the cost of a stamp. Some wise a$$ in my office added me to the SCHUMER email list, so today I got another email from him, asking me to volunteer for WEBB. He said that WEBB was still 3 pts behind. Probably the Navy wouldn't let me put a lawn sign up in base housing anyway here in Yokosuka. Semper Fidelis!

I had one of those too, it was black plastic. My Brother had the "Flying Tiger" model, but he crashed it into a telephone pole. Next time I'm back in Jersey I'll have to check and see if my Mom still has it in the garage. No radio controlled stuff back in those days. I used to always have trouble getting the engine to start!! As a Marine it breaks my heart when something like this happens. We have to wait until the process plays itself out, which will takes months (Article 32-GCM). As a Military Investigator I've seen the worst. Since I joined the Corps in 1976 hundreds of thousands have served honorably, and hundreds have given their "last full measure of devotion". Unfortunatly the MSM concentrates on the handful of murderers, rapists, child abusers and thieves that we have booted out of the Corps. Leavenworth has it's share of Marine prisoners. We will show the world that we have the moral courage to deal with this. There certainly hasn't been a "coverup", because if there was, we wouldn't be here today discussing this. Semper Fidelis.

The word "admit" is B.S. The allegations were made months ago and a case opened as soon as the USMC found out. A comprehensive criminal investigation is being conducted and was ordered by the USMC. "Coverup" is another B.S. word here. The Marines are innocent until proven guilty, they will get "due process" and have plenty of time to tell their story. Remember the NY USMCR 1LT they went after? He was found "not guilty" at a GCM. As a Marine I can tell you, the members of that Courts Martial will weigh the facts and determine what is appropriate, and not pay attention to what conclusions MURTHA has drawn in advance. I've been reading these posts. I've been to the UAE many times, Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, by USN ship and Fujairah (FUDGE) by USN aircraft. Their Military and Police are very cooperative and always play ball with us. The Sailors and Marines usually enjoy liberty there and always feel safe. I was never mistreated by anyone there. We get resupplied and refueled safely. One time we had a Senior Chief on liberty stabbed by a PLO bubba , but that was solved and resolved, quickly by the local police. Sometimes the Sailors got rowdy, a Benz left running was stolen, someone at a hotel pool "mooned" a helo of local VIPs, but they always let us discipline those guys (the car thieves were court martialed and the "mooner" went to Captain's Mast). This is a tempest in a teapot. As soon as I saw that the two goombah Senators from NY were carrying on this morning (I'm in Yokosuka, Japan now, so when I wake up FOX News has Neil CAVUTO on), I knew the whole thing was a bunch of baloney. Patience!! Semper Fidelis.

  • How Do Japanese Dump Trash? Let Us Count the Myriad Ways

In Okinawa a couple of months ago a US Sailor was murdered, found stabbed to death by Marines. It took a couple of weeks to solve this "who dunnit". The suspects (other US Sailors) advised that since they watched "CSI Miami", they had disposed of all their bloody clothes, knives, etc. in trash bags and dumped them at a Japanese garbage station off base. Even after two weeks the evidence was all still there...the Japanese garbagemen never picked up the stuff, because it was unsorted in the worng color bags. Very ironic. Semper Fidelis.

I used to shoot .22 pistol in college for NROTC back in the 70's and did well. I tried .22 rifle, but just never had the patience to get my sling just right, plus my arm was always falling asleep. I've always been a good shot (always expert in the Corps), but never sniper material, I always have ants in my pants and have to move around. That's why I went tanks. Now I just shoot every quarter to requal with my issued 9MM Sig 228 and twice a year with our office Mossbergs...I miss our old Remingtons. Semper Fidelis.
