Sure, mechanical sentries and AirSoft turrets are novel, but there's nothing like whipping out an electromagnetic pistol to show folks you mean business. The Gauss GP-219 looks like it came straight from level 5 of Duke Nukem 3D, and rocks a PIC microcontroller, dual coils with "precision pulsing" to fire steel projectiles, twin infrared sensors to assist in positioning, and even a laser sight to keep your enemies pegged. Powered by an NiCd battery pack, this bad boy also features a bar display to track "capacitor bank charge progress," battery and fault LED indicators, and is "completely silent" when fired....

Facebook has enlisted a team from law firm Covington and Burling to advise them on combating perceptions of bias against conservatives. One minor detail: Covington and Burling is the firm of Barack Obama’s left-wing former attorney general, Eric Holder. According to Axios, the team will be led by former Senate Republican Whip Jon Kyl. Kyl was a vocal critic of Holder during his time in the Senate, and was rated highly by conservative organizations. After Kyl retired from the Senate, he joined Covington & Burling, where Holder had previously been a high-profile partner. The former attorney general is still a...

Morgan Roof, the younger sister of the Charleston shooter Dylann Roof, was arrested after taking two weapons to school and posting to Snapchat that she hoped students protesting against gun violence in a nationwide walkout “get shot.” Roof, 18, showed up at A.C. Flora High School in South Carolina with a knife, pepper spray, and marijuana. She faces weapons and drugs charges. A judge released Roof on a $5,000 bond but ordered her to stay away from her school. Though she faced no charges relating to her Snapchat post, it did cause alarm, reported WIS-TV. In her post, Roof wrote:...

NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY could ever call me a Never Trumper. In fact, I was perhaps one of the very first Trump supporters on this forum. However, by using his Executive Order to ban bump-stocks as machine guns -- despite the fact that they STILL PULL ONE TRIGGER FOR ONE ROUND BEING FIRED -- he has just done something in an extra-judicial manner. Despite the clear language of the law that defines automatic weapons -- that one trigger pull discharges multiple rounds continuously -- his EO causes the language to be ignored. Now, I get that Trump bashed the...

An Ohio middle school student who shot himself to death in a school bathroom had plans to carry out a massacre, according to “disturbing documentation” on his cell phone. Keith Simons, 13, expressed admiration for Columbine school shooters Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold and said he wanted to leave “a lasting impression on the world,” in notes recovered from his cell phone, police said. The memo indicates he had access to firearms, and also included an 8-step plan to shoot up the Jackson Memorial Middle School, Jackson Police Chief Mark Brink said in a news conference Thursday.

I think I have come up with a really elegant retort to those that call for banning firearms after the Florida school shooting. Liberal: "WE NEED TO BAN GUNS TO PREVENT ANOTHER SCHOOL SHOOTING." Me: "I say we ban children instead. It would be more effective than even gun bans at preventing another school shooting." It does two things: It shocks the person who uttered the gun ban line, and it demonstrates the absurdity of trying to ban things to prevent school shootings.

I created this. It illustrates the dozens of systemic failures around the Florida school shooting. But the conclusion for liberals? "LET'S BLAME GUNS!" (This will serve as the basis for a long editorial. Keep your eyes peeled.)

Kyle Lamar Myers, more commonly known by his YouTube moniker FPS Russia, was raided by federal agents following his arrest. According to the Athens Banner-Herald, Myers had been caught receiving illegal narcotics through the mail. While he was incarcerated, Myer’s home was searched by federal authorities. ATF spokesman Nero Priester announced that more than 50 firearms were seized by the federal agents, but no illegal explosives were found. The 30-year-old Georgia native was arrested on August 8, 2017 by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office in Carnesville, Georgia. He was later released on a $10,000 bond and faces charges of possessing...

Former president George W. Bush said he believes Russia meddled in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, departing from President Trump, who has been skeptical of intelligence agencies’ findings that the Kremlin had interfered to help him win. “There’s pretty clear evidence that the Russians meddled. Whether they affected the outcome is another question,” the 43rd president said at a summit in Abu Dhabi on Thursday. He added: “It’s problematic that a foreign nation is involved in our election system. Our democracy is only as good as people trust the results.” Bush has been critical of Russia, slamming it for working...

I intercepted a note from a combatant in the government shutdown. I shall publish it here: Dear Wife, I take my pen in hand, during this Damnable Goverment Shutdown, to inform you that I am well at present and hope these few lines may find you all enjoying the same blessing. Tis hard to see the mighty prancing Democrat Congress, trampling the dying veterans and children beneath their merciless feet. No dear wife, near to speak a word of comfort. No living sister or Mother to administer relief in that hour the most sad in the history of humanity. O...

Johannesburg (CNN)South Africa will issue a diplomatic protest to the United States Monday over US President Donald Trump's "shithole countries" comments, according to its foreign ministry. During an Oval Office meeting on immigration Thursday, Trump expressed frustration with people coming to the United States from countries in Africa and elsewhere, sources told CNN. Trump on Friday denied describing certain nations in such vulgar terms, tweeting: "The language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough, but this was not the language used." He also defended himself Sunday night, telling reporters he is "not a racist."

You may love chocolate, but you should probably start preparing yourself to say goodbye to it: Scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have predicted that cacao plants are likely to go extinct as early as 2050 due to climate change. But there’s one glimmer hope on the horizon: Mars—the candy company which makes such chocolate treats as the Snickers and the Twix bar—has teamed up with the University of California on a new method that may help save future cacao crops.

A "belligerent" and "uncooperative" Connecticut woman tried to snort cocaine inside a police station Monday while she was waiting to be searched by a female officer, according to a police report. Officers with the Ledyard Police Department said they arrested Nicole Hunter, 25, on Monday following an unrelated incident. The report said police had been looking for a black Kia SUV with New Hampshire license plates following reports of an erratic driver. They found the car in Hunter’s driveway, with her still sitting inside of it, the report said.

IAMOND-HARD ARMOR The media tends to depict bullet-proof armor as something that’s thick and heavier than regular clothes. Despite being for bodily protection, the added bulk of that armor might restrict a person’s movements. But scientists at the City University of New York’s Advanced Science Research Center (ASRC) have found that diamond-hard armor doesn’t need to be thick. The key to less-bulky protection is graphene, a tightly-packed layer of bonded carbon atoms one million times thinner than a piece of paper. The researchers discovered that two layers of graphene stacked on top of one another can temporarily become as hard...

War with North Korea can be avoided if the Trump administration uses sanctions modeled after President Barack Obama's much-excoriated Iran deal and if everyone just avoids "irresponsible" war predictions that risk "millions of lives," Ohio's Republican Governor John Kasich wrote on Monday. Kasich—who battled Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination last year—outlined a plan for stronger U.S. sanctions against North Korea in an opinion column in The Washington Post published Monday evening. He slammed Republican Senator Lindsay Graham of South Carolina and other politicians for "predicting odds on the probability of war" against North Korea when there is still...

MY version of Jingle Bells: "Allow notice of the aural input of rapidly-vibrating brass-handled klaxons, "Allow notice of the aural input of rapidly-vibrating brass-handled klaxons, "Allow notice of the aural input of rapidly-vibrating brass-handled klaxons, to the entirety of the experience, "It is somewhat pleasurable to purchase and experience livery in a single-equine-mammal-powered snow-capable transportation unit with no side-panels or roofing. "Travelling rapidly through frozen precipitation, "Still situated in the above mentioned snow-capable conveyance, "Further travel indicated over savannas of grassland with minimal variation in elevation, "All whilst allowing convulsive indications of pleasure to emit from our vocal chords!"
