Juneteenth is not a hate whitey party, but a celebration of freedom in America. Juneteenth is recognized as a state holiday or state holiday observance in 29 states. Many more states recognize Juneteenth through Gubernatorial proclamations and annual resolutions.

Juneteenth is celebrated by Americans of all races, creeds, countries of origin, etc. In 1997, during the 105th congress, it was former Senate Majority Leader, Trent Lott (R-MS) and former Congressman J.C. Watts (R-OK) that sponsored and passed legislation with both houses in congress unanimously recognizing Juneteenth Independence Day in America. Sen. Obama was not a member of congress at that time. Similar legislation continues to be unanimously passed every year in congress.

The only hate I see is that coming from those who falsely label Juneteenth as a hate whitey event instead of a freedom celebration.

Together we will see Juneteenth become a national holiday in America!

We are not asking for a paid federal holiday but a National Holiay Observance to recognize Juneteenth. There will be no coast to tax-payers. So, your comment concerning Congresswoman Maxine Waters has no merit.

The National Juneteenth Holiday Campaign efforts are for a National Holiday Observance, not a paid federal holiday, (for example: Flag Day). It amazes me that anyone can come up with the conclusion that we are asking for a paid federal holiday from any of our campaign web sites or materials. It appears that attacks on Sen. Obama concerning Juneteenth have no merit and are based upon deliberate distortions of the truth.
