I am having a "No Football On TV" anxiety moment. I started watching State HS Tournaments back in November and NCAA Conference Championships. In December I got to watch all of the NCAA Divisional Championships, I, II etc, etc. The Holiday Bowl week was fantastic. The culmination of all this was the Rose Bowl: U Texas vs U Southern California. One of the best games ever on national TV. Now I have a tremendous longing: I want more college football. The NFL will suffice for A while, until the Super Bowl. This season was the BEST College Football year ever. If...

Rescuers Race to Free Trapped Submarine By VLADIMIR ISACHENKOV PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, Russia - Russian crews labored late Saturday to drag up a mini-submarine snarled in a seabed antenna deep in the Pacific, hoping to get the seven trapped crewmen close enough to the surface to escape before their air supply ran out. American and British rescue teams equipped with robotic submersible vehicles were hurrying to the site. Authorities hoped those vessels could cut the mini-sub free if two Russian ships were unable to lift the heavy entanglement with a cable they looped under it. Official estimates varied on how much oxygen...

MADISON - Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle's top aide had hundreds of used hypodermic needles delivered to Assembly Speaker John Gard's Capitol office on behalf of a woman protesting the legislator's stance on stem cell research. Gard's staff immediately called police about Liz Kastner of Fish Creek, who said she asked the governor earlier in July to deliver the needles to Gard for publicity, according to police reports. Investigators warned her not to do it again. She told police her daughter, Isabel, suffers from diabetes. She was angry at Gard, R-Peshtigo, because the Assembly passed a bill that bans therapeutic cloning,...
  • US Senate (Vanity)

I was on the phone with a friend of mine from CA and he was wondering why we needed the expense of two Senators from each State. I replied, that in his case, being from California with two lady Senators, they needed someone to go to the bathroom with. Ladies tend to do that. Barbara Boxer probably says to Diane Feinstein, "I have to pee, let's go together, OK?" Or vice versa Diane Feinstein says " I don't have to pee, but I have got to get out of this lock box, let's go together, OK?." They each get up...

    The Australian News ^ | November 03, 2004 | Valerie Elliott
Valerie Elliott, London November 03, 2004 BRITISH scientists were yesterday playing down fears of a new "mad cow" epidemic after news that the fatal brain disease had jumped species for the first time and been diagnosed in a goat in France. Alarmed government officials have already agreed on a mass cull should the disease take hold in sheep or goats in Britain. Fear was also spreading among food safety chiefs and farmers throughout Europe. Scientists have long known there was a theoretical possibility of bovine spongiform encephalopathy, known as mad cow disease, affecting goats and sheep, but there has never...
