I could use a little help here from some of our Constitutional Scholars. When President Trump signed a Continuing Resolution yesterday for another 21 days for budgeting the entire Federal Government, did he do so willingly or was his decision forced upon him? I believe the President has the can return the Bill to Congress, with comments as to why he won't sign it. (VETO) Has to happen within 10 days excluding Sundays. To sustain his VETO it takes a 2/3's vote from both houses (Representatives and Senate). Otherwise the VETO is over-ridden and the bill becomes law. Here comes...

To Jim Robinson and all the gang that can trace their way back to the White Water Board days, but most especially to Jim Rob, Thank You from the bottom of my heart. The one thing I had begun to think would never happen ... HAS! Billary and Hillary Xlinton will now be relegated to the place in history they so richly deserve .... The Ash Heap. My Bucket List is complete and much is owed to you Jim. Thank you again. ImpBill (Impeach Bill)

HOW LONG DOES THE USA HAVE? This is the most interesting thing I've read in a long time. The sad thing about it, you can see it coming. I have always heard about this democracy countdown. It is interesting and concerning to see it in print. God help us, not that we deserve it. How Long Do We Have? About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier: 'A...

By Ron Popeski 2 hours, 25 minutes ago MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia rejected talk for now of sanctions against Iran and France warned on Friday against conflict with Tehran, raising doubts whether it will face swift penalties if nuclear work is not halted by an August 31 deadline. Responding to an offer of economic incentives to stop enriching uranium, Iran hinted to six world powers on Tuesday it could rein in its program as a result of talks to implement the package -- but not as a precondition as they demand. The reply seemed tailored to crack the brittle united...

Sat Aug 12, 9:55 AM ET CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - President Bush welcomed a U.N. resolution on Saturday aimed at stopping the fighting between Israel and Hizbollah, saying the guerrilla group and its sponsors Iran and Syria had brought an "unwanted" war to the region. The fighting continued on Saturday, with the Israeli army saying it had started broadening its ground offensive in southern Lebanon. The U.N. Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution on Friday calling for a "cessation of hostilities" in the war between Israel and Lebanon's Hizbollah militia that has killed about 1,000 Lebanese and 123 Israelis and...

Some guy wrote a letter to the White House complaining about the treatment of a captive taken during the Afghanistan war. Attached is a copy of a letter they received back: The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington, D.C. 20016 Dear Concerned Citizen: Thank you for your recent letter roundly criticizing our treatment of the Taliban and Al Qaeda detainees, currently being held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. My administration takes these matters seriously, and your opinion was heard loud and clear here in Washington. You'll be pleased to learn that, thanks to the concerns of citizens like you, we are...

Japan, Korea Halt U.S. Beef Imports on Mad Cow Scare Wednesday, December 24, 2003 12:15 a.m. ET TOKYO/SEOUL (Reuters) - Japan and South Korea, the two top buyers of U.S. beef, suspended imports Wednesday after the United States reported its first case of the deadly mad cow disease, triggering fears humans could become infected. Singapore also said it was suspending imports of U.S. beef, while other key Asia buyers such as China had yet to comment. Alarm over the brain-wasting disease, bovine spongiform encephalopathy or BSE, which wreaked havoc in Europe in the 1990s, drove down share prices of fast-food...

<p>"Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech."</p> <p>It says a lot about the power of those 10 First Amendment words that it took the Supreme Court 298 pages of legal contortions yesterday to get around them. We'd have all been better off if the Court had simply taken a hint from the Founders and struck down campaign finance reform.</p>

VIRGINIA BEACH , Va. (AP) -- The U.S. State Department has condemned an on-air suggestion by religious broadcaster Pat Robertson that the agency ought to be blown up with a nuclear device. Robertson, who heads the Virginia Beach -based Christian Broadcasting Network, made the remark while interviewing author Joel Mowbray on "The 700 Club" television program last week. Mowbray wrote a book called "Dangerous Diplomacy: How the State Department Endangers America's Security." "I read your book. When you get through, you say, 'If I could just get a nuclear device inside Foggy Bottom, I think that's the answer.' I mean,...

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - Facing almost certain defeat, the United States and Britain delayed a vote to give Saddam Hussein an ultimatum to disarm and signaled they might compromise to try to win support from Security Council members who oppose a rush to war. The Bush administration had talked of a vote as early as Tuesday, but with France and Russia threatening to veto the current draft resolution, and without the minimum nine "yes" votes, it held up action in the council. Instead, council members agreed to hold another open meeting on the Iraq crisis on Tuesday and Wednesday at...

FLASH!!!Just in from CNN & CNBC. Florida, at a cost of over $600 million, has replaced their voting machines across the state. Gov. Jeb Bush at a news conference stated that the problem before was that the VOTING public was never taken into consideration when the last machines were selected. This time, from all across the United States, a think tank was formed to address this very confusing issue. Never again will Florida be made the laughing stock of America in an election. So, with great pleasure , I present you with the NEW FLORIDA VOTING MACHINE!!!!

Vanity Post While in discussions with fellow South Dakotans of the same view considering our Senior US Senator I offer this thread as a request of sorts. In the future when referring to our Senior Senator both in the written and spoken word, those of us here in South Dakota humbly offer the following spelling/pronunciation. Senator Tom D'ash-hole The concept came to mind while I was reading the thread about D'ash-hole "smirking" as he described to the press how he beat our Presidents tax cut plan.

"President Clinton wants controversial hand recounts sought by Vice President Al Gore in Florida to be conducted, if necessary, after Inauguration Day -- even if Gore loses all his court challenges and Bush becomes president on January 20. "There are another 892 (Gore) votes in in Palm Beach County that we know about," Clinton said Thursday at a benefit for cancer research in New York City. "That's enough to put him over the top." Clinton's bombshell remarks supporting a post-inauguration challenge to Bush were first reported Saturday in the New York Daily News: "What if the process ends in the ...

Time for America's remnant to stand strong The Washington Times - National Weekly Edition December 7 - 13, 1998 Linda Bowles Most Americans grew up anchored in place by certain ideas and values. They organized their lives around them. There was consensus about right and wrong, and good and bad. They knew what the rules were, and moral guideposts clearly pointed in the direction they should go. But somewhere along the way, somehow, somebody changed the rules and tore down the guide-posts. Those institutions - marriage, family, religion, schools - which historically have preserved our social learning curves, and served ...
