An interesting ferry ride home from Seattle for my wife this evening. Plugged in watching a dvd on her commute like she always does, who should sit down beside her but none other than Rep. Jay Inslee from Washington State's 1st District, obviously on his way home for a weekend pep rally at the local feed store (seriously, that's what he's doing on uber-liberal Bainbridge Island Saturday). During the hand recounts in Broward and Palm Beach Counties the Canvas boards in both counties gave votes to Gore and Bush on the basis that if there were punched out chads throughout the ballot but NOT FOR PRESIDENT it had to be assumed that the person voting MEANT to punch out their own party's nominee for president. So, as we all know before the election the Dems were screaming that Nader would cause Gore to lose. So it would be possible to assume that many if not ALL of the hand counted ballots for Gore were really NADER votes. ...

Why could Bush not ask for a complete 3rd recount by machine, which while it was being done, request a hand count in ALL 69 counties. The second recount was done by Florida State law. Would not a candidate have the right to ask for a 3rd. And since his 72 hours has run out on the first perhaps it would be possible to do a Democratic Party type of end a round.
